Funny thing is both cities are beautiful and peaceful cities.

I lived in ibeno for a year cos I did my IT at Mobil terminal there.

Uyo is neat and peaceful.

PH also isn't jam-packed with population like Lagos. PH is a very peaceful city as well. My two siblings reside there with their respective famillies and enjoying their peaceful lives. I envied them when I traveled down there. My bro bought his house at federal housing estate, woji. Quiet and serene environment.

I no know how Blueray take observe this violence in his short visit.

PH is a peaceful place to live in.

Where did I say I experience violence ? 🤷🏼‍♂️

I pointed it out here that the state is not as peaceful as the ballz guy is making it sound .

He claimed the state is very peaceful and I pointed it out that it’s a blatant lie . A state where non state actors kill a serving police DPO like chicken is not very peaceful .

I pointed it out that companies envisage kidnappings of their staff this they send security escort to pick them up right from airport to their destination .

I pointed it out that rivers state has a history of violence over the past years and just less 24 hours ago violent non state actors threw IED and incinerated the state house of assembly .

Oya tell me which of these is false ?

What that ballz guy was doing is like someone denying Edo state has an endemic problem of Yahoo Yahoo and cultism or me denying Lagos has endemic issue of agbero and omo onile . I may try to sugar coat it as much as I want but it is what it is

PH violence is sporadic. When violence is breaking out, you will know. Most of the violence is political rather than economic so when politics is hot, you just avoid certain areas. That's where the inhabitants sense of peace comes from

Rivers State in general (outside PH) is not safe and quite unpredictable. The violence there is economically driven especially toward Ahoada, Omoku, Ndoni side on the road to Bayelsa. There was a time between 2015 and 2017 that that East-West road saw one or more kidnappings/killing of road users every night without fail until Don Wanni boys were chased out. There will still be violence and crime there no doubt as there is a power vacuum but not as before.

For the record, most Ijaw towns controlled by warlords are safe except during election time. Ateke keeps Okrika safe and Asari keeps Kalabari safe. But during elections, anything goes. If you know the seasons you'd be fine. Where there is violence is those towns with power vacuum, where you don't have a warlord under amnesty program such as the towns I mentioned above (Ahoada, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Omoku) and sometimes part of Etche, Eleme, and Ogoni. But Ateke has ability to bring Ogoni under heel when it gets too hot as he has many boys there and his mother is from there.

Abonnema itself is relatively safe (compared to militancy days) except at election time due to Asari presence. Abonnema Wharf like Nembe Waterside is in Town/Borokiri and separate from the real Abonnema and Nembe which are in Kalabari (Sombrero river) and Nembe Kingdoms respectively.

My take on Simi/Wike issue is Simi should evacuate Government House than cause an Ijaw-upland issue

You be gangster, you either follow the gangster rules or you come out, don't inflame Ijaw people into a fight with their Ikwerre and upland neighbours

Simi is from far away Opobo, if violence escalates, as usual, na we the Okrikas go spearhead for Ijaw and bear the brunt due to our proximity to the other tribes and our presence in PH. Simi should play by the rules of the game he signed up for and don't bring tribe into this.

Rivers has not seen full tribal war since 1994. Ask those around then what happened over Ken Saro Wiwa issue. We had Okrika-Ogoni war, Okrika-Eleme war and Andoni-Opobo war. These guys will just start tribal war over politics. Okrika and Ikwerre have been avoiding going to war with each other despite several skirmishes over the years, we will not start now because Opobo gangster fell out with his Ikwerre godfather.

That's why I said some areas are generally prone to violence than some other areas. And compared to where we were, those places are relatively safe now. There was a time banks ran away from Omoku. UBA and I think Unity bank have returned

People working in Ahoada used to live in Bayelsa because it was safer travelling to Bayelsa than coming back to PH. Not anymore. I know several people who live in PH and work in Ahoada.

I go to Ekulama from time to time. Anyone who knows where Ekulama is knows you have to get to Abonnema before using a boat to cross to Ekulama. Abonnema is a place I am very familiar with and I was surprised to read here that there are gunshots every few hours. There was a time they used to rob and kidnap at a bad spot between Emuoha and Abonnema but all that is now a thing of the past.

I also concede that election period can be violent but this last election was relatively peaceful. I stand to be corrected, I don't think we had up to three deaths in the entire state. Coming from where we were in 2019 where people were beheaded in their houses, that's a vast improvement.

I don't wake up in the morning thinking I may not return home and I don't know anyone who does.

I honestly cannot agree with anyone who says the state is not safe.

nothing will happen, the people are behind him, unfortunately wike miscalculated, he'd have just left the guy to do his job, and still gotten his respect regardless, how can wike single handedly pick all his appointees? I reckon that sim would have handled it better by speaking to respected Elders like Odili and possibly someone in the presidency, rumour has it that one of the reasons for the fight was sims insistence to revitalise the songhai farm project started by Amaechi, wike got angry and retorted that 'we didn't ask you to do agriculture ' because it was Amaechis project, I'm not happy because everything that played out today would have been handled differently, it's a shame. That Edison guy from Ahoada is also gunning for the top seat after sims tenure, that's why he stood firmly with sim to take down wike, I believe sim has promised to hand over to him since power is supposed to rotate to his senatorial district. Wike had everything Going for him, he just hosted the APC Rivers faction loyal to Amaech last week, his arrogance brought him down, he was starting to feel like God, he should resign and go on exile, his enemies are out baying for blood.

They agreed to all the sharing of appointments before the election. SIM knew exactly what he was getting into.

Maybe I understand politics differently but if someome handpicks me as governor, I either agree to do his bidding and abide by that agreement or I refuse the offer ab initio

Everything he his, everything he has become, he owes to Wike. He can't win this fight. If he manages to survive the impeachment, he will lose his re-election. The people that matter and deliver the votes are behind Wike. Infact, PDP may lose the state altogether. The earlier he listens to the voice of reason, the better for him.

People can be behind Simi all they want. The people were behind Peter Obi but look what Wike did, especially in Obio Akpor

People don't matter. What's best for people is that "other" people aren't armed and violence erupts. The violence is not just for the battle itself but the guns that will stay in the protagonists hands and be used for economic crimes years down the line

This "peace" we dey enjoy for Rivers State so is based on arrangements between gangsters. You say Edison from Ahoada is supporting Simi because Ahoada is next in line. Is Edison at peace with Felix Obuah (sponsor of Don Wanni), and Godfather of Omoku/Ahoada axis? From my calculations, Felix Obuah is on Wike side and is chairman of PDP in Rivers State so given that mostly PDP lawmakers impeached Edison, that means Edison is going against his Godfather (Obuah) and na Ahoada go suffer the consequence. You know how wicked Obuah is, check all the beheadings and violence in that axis from 2015 to 2017.

Then you have other warlords in the different constituencies. I don't see Ateke and Asari going against Wike, and if they do, Wike will arm other Okrika and Kalabari warlords to usurp them in those areas which will burn down those areas like in Odili/Abiye Sekibo days.

The peace we have is based on gangsters agreement. The gangsters should come to agreement, peoples choice don't matter, it's better for the people when the gangsters agree.

SIM doesn't care, he offered to resign, the Kings from bonny and opobo and some Elders and opposition leaders are cheering him on, I don't think Tinubu wants to be distracted by the drama unfolding In Rivers, there's little no tricks now in wikes playbook, I watched his video at the FEC meeting today, he looked distressed, I'm just not happy that the fight started sooner than expected especially when they are yet to complete their court cases. Ateke and even Asari seems to be behind wike, Asari spoke today and he called out sim for being ungrateful and arrogant, I can almost predict the response of fellow machiavellians like Asari and other strong men in the region that has no beef with wike as most of them detest betrayals.

Felix is no longer Chairman and he was in a meeting with Fubara today for peace talks, fubara has disgraced and humiliated wike, there's no coming back from here, he couldn't even wait for a year to severe ties with wike, Its unfortunate. Everybody is minding their business, honestly I don't see a way out for wike except if Tinubu wades in but why should Tinubu wade in, what's In it for him?
