How I Spend 10% Of My Income by Omoawoke2(m): 5:42pm On Oct 31, 2023
I’m from a Christian background, and my family church believes in paying tithe.

Well I am human first before anything. So as a responsible Omoluabi, once I receive my pay, after tax. I remove 10% of it. I divide the 10% into 70/30

I send 70% to my papa and the remainder of 30% to mama.
Yea, those are my real daddy Go and mummy GO

I’d never give my 10% to any pastor.
Did pastor pay my school fees, was pastor there for me when I was sick? Did pastor breast feed me?
I’d never call oyedepo or adeboye my daddy when they don’t even know I exist. My parents invested a lot in my and my siblings. A whole lot
I’d never be foolish to that extent.

I give 70% of my income to my dad and 30% to my mum because my dad is the head of the family. Yes I’m a traditional man. Nothing like 50/50
My dad will eventually still spend the money on the family

With the economic situation in Nigeria and exchange rate, I’ll rather send my 10% home to my parents than give a billionaire pastor my 10%.
Na God call am go do pastor no be me send am, he should go and collect his reward in heaven

Same here. I am a Christian and have never given 10% to any church. I give offering but not the 10%.

Growing up in Anglican church as a kid, I remember how we use to sing about 10% tithes and about not stealing from God when tithes are being collected. I never do not miss my monthly stipends I send to my parents even though they do not need it, it's my own way of saying thank you for all their efforts. 3 university degrees including overseas education.

Yes o bro, my parents have sacrificed a lot and if not for their sacrifices, I won’t have made it this far.

10% of my income goes to them consistently in addition to getting them gifts as necessary or celebrating important events

I hope you go to church with your chair, communion materials, fliers, and even space because those things didn't drop from heaven. 10% was heavily involved in putting them in place.

support the work of God. I don't believe in tithing but I do believe in supporting the work of the church of Christ. God will not send money from heaven to build the church, fuel the gen and buy the chairs.
We all have an obligation as Christians to support the work of God through a freewill donation. Give as your heart direct you and please give bountifully

The work of God starts in family, and I’ll start from there

It's great that you're responsible and take care of your family. Your approach to tithing and supporting your parents is a personal choice, and it's important to do what feels right for you and your beliefs. It's true that family support is a valuable way to make a positive impact. Do what pleases you and stop ranting. That you choose not to pay your 10% does not mean is not biblical? And who gave you that notion you are paying to your Pastor? Paid as instructed by God and whatever the money is used for shouldn't bother you just obey.

Most of us don't pay 10%. We've taken it to another level, that's what work for us. Is personal conviction. Even if you stop paying, those who will pay will pay QED.

No pastor will go hungry because you didn't give your tithe. With or without your tithe, God can finance His church.
Since you refuse to give, has your church close down?

Assisting the church in Nigeria = Giving money to lazy pastors.

Let them go look for jobs?

You are doing well. My rule 10% of your income is for others including charity, friends, parents and sibling as gifts or donations.
