Hello House,

WHICH CONDITION IS BETTER?
Please my brother is trying to come to canada via study route. He has gotten admission for a PGC and first term tuition paid by sponsor (Uncle). We asked our uncle to please deposit 8k usd equivalent to 10k cad into his dom account for one year living expenses just to make his application very convincing, when his visa is approved he will return the money to him.

However my uncle refused to deposit such money in my brother’s account with the only condition that the Dom account must have two signatures ( my brother and one other of his children) just to make sure his money his safe. The VO I believe will frown at this because they will think the money is not readily available to my brother since he is not the only signatory.

We thought about another alternative, now we found a money lender who is willing to deposit such money in my brother’s account with the condition that he will put the account on lien! Is this an issue too? Has anyone successfully used a lien account? Please which option or condition is better for his situation.

Your opinions will be highly appreciated

You can lien the money.....I used it too, and I got my visa approved.
The money is still in your account but just that it is not withdrawable at the time duration u put it for.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by jakeroberto(m): 7:02pm On Nov 02, 2023
It was done for me also, because I am a huge spender....when I see money in my account, I would be hungry to spend it. Since it was lien by me....I didn't and couldn't touch the money until the duration.

You need to demostrate how the second year tuition will come with documentation. Support letter, affidavit of support, . If employed employment letters, salary slip etc and vice versa

Try entering from Montreal. If you use air Canada or Lufthansa, some usually land there first then book a connecting flight to your final destination. Be sure to allow a longer layover time to accommodate the time you will spend with CBSA .

Procedure to open GIC. You can apply for it from Nigeria. I applied for mine from Nigeria

First you go to there website https://pay.cibc.com/ISBO/payment/#/ and create a profile.
1. You are applying for student GIC program

2. Minimum amount is $10000, you can do upto $20000 but bear in mind that this money will only be available on tranches for a period of 8 months or so.

3. Select resident country

4. Do not check the I'd like to pay in canadian dollars box

5.. you will see an amount in USD click on it and continue, that amount will be held for 20 minutes while u fill the form

6. After filling the form you will be contacted by the bank in 1-2 business days with an account number to pay into

7.. proceed to the bank and make the payment from a USD account

NOTE: payment can be only made once before you arrive to Canada. And PAYMENT MUST BE MADE FROM THE SAME NAME ACCOUNT OTHERWISE THEY WILL RETURN YOUR MONEY
can I make the payment with usd card ?
