Many Nigerians are going to experience more financial pains as Multichoice, owners of DSTV Nigeria, has again hiked subscription fees by at least 16 per cent depending on the bouquet.

DAILY POST gathered that a price increment notice was sent by DSTV to subscribers on Friday.

According to DSTV, the new rate will be effective from Monday, 6th November 2023.

For instance, the DSTV compact or GOTV Supa+ subscription fee of 10,500 has increased to 12,500.

Also, the DSTV Premium increased to N29,500 from N24,500; Compact+ increased to N19,800 from N16,600; Confam increased to N7,400 from N6,200; while Yanga will henceforth cost N4,200, from N3,500.

For GOTV, Supa bouquet has increased to N7,600 from N6,400; Max subscription to N5,700 from N4,850; Jolli package now goes for N3,950 from N3,300 while Jinja was hiked to N2,700 from to N2,250.

This is the second time the company is announcing an upward price review this year.

In March, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, threatened to take action over the price increment, but nothing came out of the threat.

This is what you get when there are little or no viable alternatives to DSTV/GoTV.

***
Who are the DSTV competitors in the industry? There are Startimes, MyTV, TSTV etc. (that's what I meant by "little or no viable alternatives" ).

Of course you have Options to download or stream Internet Contents, go to viewing centers, use FTA, or even to abandon your DSTV Decoder & stop watching TV.

How are there no alternatives?
What are you watching on DSTV that you can't watch on the internet?

Only an illiterate still uses DSTV.

Poor people in Nigeria, unu sorry o.

Now you people will learn that elections have consequences.

ecolime:

You are right.

If they had voted the right candidate, DSTV Premium that was increased to N29,500 from N24,500 for don become N500 or maybe N200 monthly.

We go don build like 4 four refineries in 5 months and fuel for don cheap like water. Maybe N20 per liter.

Let them enjoy what they voted for. Elections have consequences.

You tried to be funny but you only ended up exposing how dense you truly are.

Let me break it down for you like you're 5 years old.

The astronomical increase in dollar rates, fuel price, and gas prices has made the ease of doing business become harder than Further Maths, even a teenager knows this, but you're trying to bend the facts.

These massive increases in cost of living has resulted in the shutting down and relocation of most businesses. It has also ensured that we do not get new foreign investors because nobody wants to do business where the cost of living is unbearably high not to talk of the cost of running their businesses.

As a result, the businesses who choose to stay have to make adjustments to suit the current realities. DSTV has increased subscription prices 2 times this year alone (something they used to do in the span of 3-5 years before), guess what else keeps increasing by the day too? Your guess is as good as mine. wink

So the next time you choose to lie shamelessly and try to shift the blame from your "egbon" who's terrible economic policies have destroyed Nigerias economy barely 6 months after he was sworn in, think again. Not all of us are as shallow as you are.

Elections have dire consequences!

It's total waste of money subscribing GOTV/DSTV, most especially GOTV. Dem nor dey show better thing. Mumu NEPA won't even allow you enjoy it if you manage to subscribe.... I would rather use my FTA decoder where I enjoy MBC channels.

If I wanna watch a particular movie what I do is download it online, it's better than wasting money.

The only solution to dstv wahala is cheap data price.

But we have had terrible visionless ediots handling the communication ministry (including the present ediot) for so long, that internet data is still a luxury for average Nigerians in 2023.

If there is enough data, dstv will beg people to subscribe and making promo after promo to reduce their price.
