Investors should look the way of UBA and Chams while traders should look the way of Chams and Japaul. It is like a Venn Diagram with Chams as the intersection set.

i dont see it as mobbing, the total units bought is still under 40-million (for a coy with 34.2b outstanding shares).

i see it more as a signal that the owners of the company see more value in the company going forward at this present price (despite the fact that the price has had a run from 8 to 21 recently)\.

hence it is more of a signalling technique by TOE

really i dont understand how anyone that is holding this stock would sell it for less than 25 (half PBV)

Although it might look like the current performance would not be sustainable given that the major component ( revaluation) is one off but i beg to differ.

On a back of the envelope basis, my take is that UBA EPS going forward would sustain the upward of N8 per share going forward even without revaluation. The revaluation alone add over N800b to the bank asset which if invested in TB at average of 13% is over N100bn profit per year (without any cost) to the bank bottom line i.e. about 3.50 per share which if added to the normalised EPS (before revaluation) of about 4.5 per share would give about N8 per share going forward even without revaluation. Please note that this view goes beyond 2023 to as much as 3-4 years ahead (bar any major mishap from the management)

if 35% of the N8 per share is paid as dividend one would expect a dividend of at least N2.50 (both interim and final) which at N25 per share is a yield of at least 10%.

so i dont understand how any one would want to sell below N25, but to each mallam his kettle.

Selah

Above was just after release of half year result when the price was struggling to hold on to the 15-17 price range

If Tony pay anything btw 3-4 in final dividend (which is very conservative at EPS already at 12.94) then be rest assured UBA would definitely go to high 20s / low 30s

It's the way the disclosure alerts cluttered the page. They should just roll up what each director bought in a week or month. Abi it is transparency best practice to report daily as transactions take place. That will lead to too much mobbing of the page grin

I forecast a final dividend of 1.5 or at best best 2.5 max. This is premised on the assumption that UBA will want to continue growing organically as much as possible. The 2.5 max will be to support undue excessive sell-off and volatility in the share price which will not be a good image.

Do you know what it means to be the CEO of one of the biggest banks in Nigeria. Money spent should be about N500 million, I don't think that is too much based on his status.

You see how firms with a lot of foreign presence as shareholders is very different if the board and majority shareholders are Nigerians. We have a way of treating ourselves without respect . Oando is there waiting to delist at N7.00 YET even without any persuasion or uproar has come out with a fairly reasonable exit price . There is a reason why some of us look at major shareholders of the company before we invest . I agree that some Major Nigerian shareholder have done well with their business but hardly let anything get to retail investors without much hullabaloo and bulaba . When you are forced to take action because of a forced takeover shouldn't be the norm . I hope Oando learns from this but If i know my people, we never learn, we just move on

This ongoing war between Aliko Dangote and BUA is not good at all.

https://dailynigerian.com/dangote-group-accuses-bua/

https://africa.businessinsider.com/local/leaders/bua-responds-to-dangotes-allegations-reveals-agelong-battle-against-his-monopoly/4qm8bvb

I know that BUA has always wanted to becomes Forbes Richest Man in Nigeria and perhaps also in Africa

But this online fight between Dangote and BUA is avoidable

β€œTo Mr. Dangote and the Dangote Group, we say: Let us build, not belittle, Let us cultivate, not conquer. While we may share the marketplace, we need not share malice. We have nothing to do with your self-inflicted issues. Blame no one but yourself," the statement stressed.

BUA reaffirms its commitment to innovation, integrity, and inclusiveness, saying the company's history is marked by hard work, not entitlement.

When they open their mouths wide, I suddenly realise that the Billionaires that I adore, are mere humans.

Reminds me of when Otedola and Tony Elumelu started washing their dirty linens in public earlier this year.

In the next few days, I expect the Grand Master of Letter Writing to respond. And it will shatter all tables completely. Watch out and Wait for the response of OBJ.
