Nigerian Senate Asks Tinubu Government To Push For Ceasefire In Israel-Hamas War

Aliero lamented the war's death toll and the possibility that World War III could result from it if it is not stopped right away.

The Nigerian Senate has asked President Bola Tinubu's administration to work with the United Nations to ensure an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

The lawmakers equally urged the Federal Government to press for a Two-State solution to end the conflict, in which thousands, including women, children and aid workers had been killed.

This comes after the Senate considered and approved a motion proposed by Senator Adamu Aliero (PDP-Central Kebbi).

Aliero lamented the war's death toll and the possibility that World War III could result from it if it is not stopped right away.

Senators who contributed to the debate were Barau Jibrin (Kano North), Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South) and Sani Musa (Niger East).

They all condemned the killings on both sides and called for an immediate end to the killings and the safety of lives and property, according to The Nation newspaper.

In a related development, SaharaReporters earlier reported that South Africa and Chad had recalled their diplomats and ambassadors from Israel for "consultation" in response to the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

A South African minister, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni on Monday in a news conference disclosed the decision taken by the country while announcing the outcome of a cabinet meeting held on November 1.

In the last 24-48 hours, boko haram killed about 19 farmers in Borno, ipob killed a guy's friend today as read here on NL. In Benue,many frared dead today. Nigerians lose their lives daily but they don't care.

Had Nigerian leaders attacked these killers the way Istrael attacked hamas for killing over 1,000 of their fellow citizens, we'd say, we have good leaders. Nigerians' lives don't matter to them.
