The so-called CBN governor has NEVER managed any commercial bank as CEO. He definitely does not have the much needed experience to manage the banking sector.
Tinubu is just a nepotistic president like Buhari, and he will fail woefully if he does not change the tendency to appoint mostly his ''Lagos Boys'' as FGN appointees.

Cardoso doesn't have an economics degree, infact he did most of his studies on public administration, public administration has nothing to do with economics.

And yes, I will not appoint someone with his experience and educational qualification as CBN governor. In countries with economic structures, yes, but in an economically disorganized country like Nigeria, he is not fit.

Coming from a disgraced thief that used about 300m to cut grass. Dirty thing.

Godwin Emefiele was a former banker appointed as a CBN Governor and achieved nothing other than worsening our economy with bad monetary policies.....

Cardoso is also a former banker and will also achieve nothing other than worsening our economy with bad monetary policies.....All they do now is borrow to fund the Nigeria (import dependent population) forex needs.....thus worsening and over devaluing our naira, cost of living very very high, standard of living very very poor...trickle down effect and multiplier effects is in the negatives....

Who floats their currency?? Leaving the invisible hands of demand and supply to dictate the price of foreign currency (USD) and the value of their own currency (naira).....when we know demand will always be there and always higher than supply hence free fall/ doomed naira......

Only dangote alone (not to mention the politicians and other importers) can mop up 30 billion dollars forex when available at available price talk more of others......

CBN's solution to this is to borrow forex to meet its forex obligations which when injected into the economy is mopped up immediately or sold immediately to the highest bidder......before the end of EMILOKAN 8 years regime forex will be 2000 naira to a U.S dollar....

This is what you get when corrupt leaders appoint corrupt bankers that can easily cook the books (falsify records) for them.....instead of seasoned economists that suppose to be at the helm of affairs of the CBN......

As economists it is easier for us to cook the books e.g earmarking 1trillion naira each year as logistics (this word is complex and can easily be used to encompass a lot to commit capital flight and very defensible in court) expenses.....but like I would always say but since our name as economists mean too much to us as policy makers and true technocrats we can never toe that line of economic jettison.......

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was hunted by Goodluck Jonathan because after auditing the CBN books and balance sheet he discovered a discrepancy of 40 billion unremitted NNPC (now NNPCL privatized) funds and escalated it by making the public aware, upon the whitch hunt by the then president he was still upright to the end.....under his sire of the CBN and that of Soludo who reintroduced coins into our naira denominations to revalue the naira (though it did not work due to poor general acceptability) Nigerians were smiling........note they are economists......

All Cardoso led CBN does is provide temporal-archaic panacea to Nigeria's forecast woes by injecting borrowed forex back into the economy ( which in reality are forex forwards backlogs owed banks) after which the naira slumps and partially dies.......instead of final panacea.....

A banker is a banker, an economist is an economist, square pegs in square holes....

But the CBN Governor has done well so far, I suppose with the tools at his disposal.
Can he/they do more? Sure but it could have been a lot, a lot worse.

I can attest, based on insights from some of my senior colleagues who worked with him, that he has consistently stood out as one of the most professional and astutely structured technocrats, particularly in the fields of economy and banking.

He was Citibank in the era when Citiban was the gold standard for banking in Nigeria.

It is highly plausible that Cardoso implemented measures to curtail the loopholes that cabals, such as Babachir, may have been exploiting.

This guy mam really thought himself to be someone special, he was all over Tinubu during the purchase and submission of nomination form, he did all he could for Tinubu to win the primary thinking that Tinubu will chose a Christian from the north as the running mate not knowing that Tinubu is a political Juggernaut who knows that a grass cutter can not give him a sufficient votes from the north. Since Tinubu did not consider him for the running mate he is been very bitter but that's all he can do.

Central banking is far more than supervision of deposit money banks. The suitability (for CBN governor) of commercial bank CEOs (e.g. Joseph Sanusi, Paul Ogwuma, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Godwin Emefiele etc.) is being seriously questioned (and rightly so) in some quarters...and yet Cardoso (who never even actually ran a commercial bank) is being marketed by the nairaland usual suspects as a perfect fit for CBN governor. What is his position on the key issues?

Time will tell if Cardoso will unravel like his principal Bola Tinubu - a time travelling sorcerer who "graduated" from school a good 4 years before the school was built ...or if he will be able to get us out the deep mess we are in.

Simple questions:
- Where and when did he get his purported PhD in economics?
- What was his banking experience before being appointed Chairman of Citibank of Nigeria?

FYI Cardoso did not run Citibank (that role belonged to Emeka Emuwa the MD/CEO) but was chairman of the board by virtue of him representing the Estate of F.B. Cardoso which held 30M+ shares (very high among Nigerian holders cos Citigroup held approx 90% but dont appoint the chairman), which made him one of the few (less than 10 people) eligible to be the Chairman.

Cardoso was never a banker cos he has no experience in banking operations, but you dont need to be banker to be chairman of the board of a bank.

Another example is Hassan-Odukale, current chairman of First Bank He is a pure insurance guy with no banking experience

Funny you.soludo was just a theoretical economist,a lecturer while cardoso was a practicing one with 8 years experience in lagos.sanusi experience was in first bank while emefiele was just in zenith but cardoso worked in banks and outside.he worked outside Nigeria,worked with world bank and IMF and was on the board of major intl firms.he is more qualified than the rest who are just either bankers or economist.cardoso is versatile
