versatile in what?

According to your logic, so if you need a a surgery, you will not look for a medical surgeon, but would prefer someone who has been a tailor, mechanic and carpenter cos he is 'versatile'? undecided

Oga,to handle cbn well, you need to be good in several areas of finance not just banking or economics or both.

Stupid man. Self sufficiency at N55,000 per bag of rice instead of N7,000. Idiot . No wonder Buhari was a failure.

What was his banking experience before becoming chairman of Citi? undecided

Nigerians seem to have an irreconcilable separation from truth

Cardoso was an executive at Citizens bank before he resigned to join Tinubu's govt in 1999

Can you now see this man is no more making sense. You farmers are planning to export excess rice by next year when the country cannot even boast of self sufficiency in rice production. Imagine the price local rice even command in the market. A corrupt fellow having the mouth to talk.
Sentiments apart, he's right. Lifting ban on imports of those products was untimely & wrong. What's the effect of that decision on the exchange rate? Rice is produced in large quantity in this country. Government needs to provide basic infrastructures to transport the products from the farms & if possible mop them up for storage & price control. A lot of the products produced in the North are sold off to merchants from neighbouring countries.

The CBN never placed a ban in rice importation, they don't have d power to do so, it's d power of d Ministry of Finance thru Customs. CBN only banned them from sourcing forex from d official market. That policy unfortunately drove them to d black market and that's one of d reason d black mkt kept expanding. What d CBN has done is to allow them return to the official market. The current exchange rate in d official market is over N750 so it won't make importation of rice any cheaper. Customs already have an import duty of 70% on rice to protect local farmers. Unfortunately local farmers like Babachir Lawal are evil, after receiving cheap loans from CBN, they have inflated d price of their rice such that it's now d same with imported rice

Those men were pure bankers while cardoso is versatile

^^^

You will have to show evidence of this "versatility".

Paul Ogwuma does not have a PhD in economics...in fact he doesn't have a PhD in any subject...which raises the question of why he has always been addressed as "Dr". undecided He "studied" at Bradford University from 1959 to 1962 but what he studied and the degree he graduated with isn't quite clear. He ran Union Bank in the 1980s. He had no CBN (or any other finserv regulatory) work experience prior to his appointment as governor.

Joseph Sanusi does not have a PhD in economics...in fact he doesn't have a university degree at all. However, he worked with the CBN from 1966 for over 20 years, rising to deputy governor in the late 1980s. He also ran the SEC for a brief period in the late 1970s. The man also ran UBA and First Bank for brief periods in the early 1990s...before he was appointed CBN governor in the late 1990s. You see his lack of degree qualifications for CBN governor is mitigated somewhat by his lengthy experience in the CBN system.

Charles Soludo has a PhD in economics and has taught at a number of local and foreign universities. He has consulted for Bretton Woods institutions and the UN but prior to his appointment as CBN governor he had no work experience with the CBN or any other finserv regulator...although he ran the National Planning Commission in the early 2000s. He has no private sector experience outside academia.

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi does not have a PhD in economics...although he has bachelors and masters degrees in the subject. He had no work experience in the CBN or any other finserv regulator prior to his appointment as CBN governor...although he did work with Icon Merchant Bank UBA and First Bank...he actually ran First Bank for a brief period before he was appointed CBN governor.

You will have to show proof of Cardoso's versatility. These former CBN goveernors (except Charles Soludo) actually ran commercial banks and their critics say that simply isn't enough (and rightly so). The suitability of these men for CBN Governor is being questioned even today...so how is Cardoso (who never actually ran a bank) a better fit? undecided Yes...he was a planning commissioner at state level but is that sufficient?

What was soludo experience before becoming governor? Cardoso is the most experienced gov since 1999

You don come again. Soludo was a guru of monetary economics, that is why we always advocate for an economist, especially a monetarist to handle CBN, to head CBN, you don't need commercial banking experience, what is needed is experience in handling monetary policies, which Soludo had, he was an economic adviser yo Obj before becoming CBN gov.

Even Godwin Emefiele was more experienced in banking than Cardoso.

When we tell you guys that CBN does not need bankers as head, you argue, CBN is not about making profit but about monetary policies to attain growth and development. Mind you, I even prefer the deputy governor heading the deve development dept Mallam Dattijo from Kaduna to this Tinubu family friend Cardoso.

Oga,soludo was just an economist lecturer while emefiele was just a banker at first bank.why are you contradicting yourself? Who told you that cardoso is just a banker? He is a devt expert, economist, banker, financial expert, worked with intl organisations.he is the most qualified cbn gov since 1999.

So soludo that was just a mere lecturer was sufficient to be cbn governor while cardoso that has worked with imf, world bank,Citigroup isn't qualified? Someone that was commissioner in Lagos for 8 years, has been on the board of local and international firms, led several research, bagged degrees in several financial fields? Oga,cardoso is far better

Truly, being a supporter of APC is never easy. Godwin have over 25 years experience in banking sector and rose to the position of CEO of Zenth bank, a first generation bank. Cardoso was chairman of a local bank with just 13 brank nationwide.

Soludo was a renowned economist, a monetarist, I know you don't know what bring a monetarist mean. Worked as an economic adviser to Obj, he knew how to play with monetary policies.

Keep defending evil because you are being paid monthly stipends which cannot even buy 25 litres of fuel.

Cardoso is a family friend to Tinubu, reason why he was appointed. The four deputies are more competent than him.

Soludo was just a mere lecturer before atiku nominated him as economic adviser and then cbn gov...compare to cardoso who was state commissioner for 8 years in the biggest state, headed Citi Bank, worked with JP Morgan, imf, world bank, UN,has intl experience....is versed in econs, devt planning, banking
