The Federal Government has flagged off the Lagos to Calabar Highway. The Honourable Minister of works His Excellency Engr David Umahi in company of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State His Excellency Obafemi Hamzat flagged off the project
The project is expected to cover 650km and will be the handled by HiTech Construction Company Limited. The road is to be constructed using cement technology and will involve the construction of bridges and rail lines

The road is expected to be carried out in two phases and the Phase one starts from Lagos to Calabar

The Road will start form Victoria Island, goes through the Lekki Phase 1 and links Jakande

It connects to Alpha Beach Rd and comes out at Eleko Bus Stop

It then goes through Dangote Refinery and connects to Folu, passes through Araromi Village and a bridge connects them to Ondo State

The Road when completed will enable the Refinery and other companies have easy access to evacuate their products instead of going through the Epe-Ijebu Ode axis

Instead of imposing cement road construction on the country, why didn't Dave Umahi go to other countries and see the materials used to fix their roads? Afterwards, he will come home and try it.

Days ago, a Nairaland thread popped up of how some roads Dave Umahi constructed in Ebonyi State are already dilapidating. If that could happen to state roads, imagine what would happen to federal roads that always have to absorb pressure from trucks.

What's the business case for this highway, waste and dissipation of funds. What happened to the existing highway

I am not standing in for the government but for those that know the road very well, work is already ongoing

People need to understand that Government is not building the road from scratch, most part of the road are already in existence

They will probably expand some parts and repair some part.People that live around Folu Village in Lagos travel to Ondo state using a boat ride from that vicinity

This journey lasts for just 40 minutes, the Ondo state government is already constructing their own end of the Road.Probably the Federal Government will probably build the Bridge connecting the Ogun End and Ondo End

Also, the Road will create an alternative for products which will be produced when the Refinery,Sea port and Trade zone commence full operations.A futuristic government will start preparing for alternatives to avert what is happening in Apapa

Wailer like you thinks this government is similar to the one ruling your state.

As bad as the government of former president Buhari is, they performed really well in road and rail constructions. For example, Abuja, Kaduna, Kano road which is about 1000 kilometers because it's a dual carriage road is almost completed, the areas yet to be completed is within Major towns where many houses, filling stations, companies are situated and needs to go down which you should know is not going to be easy.

Jebba, Ilorin road was completed within three years of his first tenure.

I don't need to say a word about rail, you should know that yourself.

Summary of my epistle is that, you are used to maladministration in your region.

We are grateful to God, the Federal Government, our forebears who led us with great examples and everyone who will support us to realise this audacious goal for Nigeria. This highway, rail lines are still coming up to complement the 4th Mainland Bridge by the special grace of God.
