I still had a discussion with a friend yesterday and we both agreed that nowadays the youth learn from people on social media even the simplest of things they should pick up and learn from their immediate environment . Like people listen to people like Davido, Wizkid , Burna etc and think they are always right simply because those are the guys making all the money , buying the luxury cars and what have u. People glamorize some of their indicent behavioris, think it’s cool and won’t mind replicating same in their own immediate environment/society .

Remember that time Davido literally disrespected Dele Momodu over his issues with his baby mama Sophia ? He said “Dele na my boy “ did not end there , but added it to the lyrics of his song . This is Dele his uncle’s friend o; someone that has known him from birth . The youth though it was cool Davido had to give it to Dele and put him in his place…. Blah blah…

Davido has since apologized to Dele but that moral value broken is gone.

Times are hard ; parents now have to look up to kids they couldn’t even feed properly nor give quality education . They look up to those kids to feed well, own a car, build a house , etc .

I am an avid user of technology and I agree the positive outweighs the negatives just like soyinka said but I won't also deny it breeds some form of laziness

I used to have quarrels with my younger bro when he was growing up as a teen he preferred watching movies to reading books I told him that movies are summaries and made to entertain only. When reading you get the nuance, the full story and improve your language

I know if I grew up and went to school in this era of technology with my short attention span I will struggle cos I will spend most times on the internet and never do any concrete study

Also in life social skills are important thats why people who gwt worked up over internet are advised to take a break and go meet real world people

You wont know how much it affects even something as trivial as toasting a babe, normally you have to psych yourself up, read music lyrics or write love letters which improve your grammar, you go meet her in person and often get rejected and you build your inner strength about life. Real life you get more Ls than Ws you get more rejection than acceptance and you build yourself up from childhood

In JS class there was one girl I liked but I couldn't bring myself to talk to her, anytime she is close or even says hello my heart will be beating like I will have a heart attack but some of our friends who had a more rugged upbringing or had elder bros that gave them OT earlier were already nacking babes from JS classes. That thing used to be a major issue for me until I mixed with these boys and saw that they just had better social skills when I got to SS classes of course I grew much taller, I was brilliant, my sentence construction was better, I was able to create likely objections girls will give and I always created a response to it all so I could now toast girls well. At a time it became fun and like a game to me.

When I met with some of my cousins who were richer and didnt have much social life they stayed at home more or with drivers taking them everywhere. The concept of street toasting was like magic to him as in go meet a girl a total stranger and just talk to her. When I get back he will be asking so what did you tell her and what did she say. Of course nothing came out of most of those toasting cos there was no way to connect no phones of social media but just the thrill as teenagers

This week one of my friend in Naija was telling me that his nephew a Year 1 student will just stay on his phone and laptop all day, no dey comot at all
