Hi

Please I have a loan currently running and I want to know if this is a challenge for me if I get a fully funded scholarship ahead of Fall 2024.

Do I clear the outstanding loan balance but credit report is good as I have never missed my repayment.
Naija loan or US student loan?

Good afternoon Forum members,

Please, if you see dates for December 2023 open for Student interview slots in US Consulate Lagos and US Embassy Abuja, please we will appreciate you let members here know so we can book.

My checking for dates still saying ''no appointments available'' at US Consulate Lagos and US Embassy Abuja.

I was refused student visa in July 31, 2023 and have got an updated I-20 from another school for the Spring January 2024 intake and have paid my new visa fee trying to get an appointment.

Thanks, and will appreciate your reply.

Hey !

Since you were refused in July 2023 .... I think there is a 6 Months waiting period before you would be able to qualify for EA. Or did you not fill the part that ask were you previously denied visa in the past 6 months ? Despite the fact that it's not up to 6 Months that you were denied i want to think that you still falls into that category . I think the feasible gimmick you can use is to change location and accept the first that that would be presented to you after which you can call the CGI for prerogative of mercy (lol) on emergency appointment. Nothing is impossible anyways . Don't give up .

This sounds like self-imposed mental toll you put on yourself. Why dont you expand your options? If schools you would love to be admitted to, dont accept your application, find a lot of other schools… las las employers dont really care about ur school once you can do the job.

Check Miami University. Purdue University, University of North Dakota, UC Michigan , Boston University ...etc Google Public Research Universities in the USA and pick them one by one by writing to their International Admissions office with your enquiries. They will give you appropriate answers ok ? By the time you write like 15 schools you should see your match . Nobody can do magic , we all know what we knows through constant Research and experience. Pls someone should help me out due to the agent which I used my sevies fee payment was delay and my interview was very near so I went for my visa interview on Sept 26 without paying the sevies fee and during the screening process I was sent back to make the payment then I should reschedule my appointment and come back for the interview but the lady that did the interview hold unto my MRV receipt and gave me a sheet that I won't be paying another MRV that in 24hrs my profile will be open then I should reschedule my appointment ever since then I have been trying to schedule another appointment Is not working and when I click on payment on my profile and I input my MRV receipt what I see next is record not found pls someone should help me out on what to do.

Hey !

Cool down . I will suggest you do the following . 1. Go back to GTB and reverify your MRV receipt by telling a good listener (banker all that happened ) because the VO who interviewed you might forgot to do some necessary things by just flinging your MRV somewhere .

2. Try and reverify your SEVIS fee payment online and make sure that the payment still reflect PAID online .

3. Your CGI page was locked (not permanently though ) because they thinks you want to outsmart the embassy by not following the necessary procedure of paying the MUST paid SEVIS fee ( I understand it's a mistake but embassy will see it as a fraud ).

4. After reconfirming your MRV receipt and SEVIS payment then put your whole information in one side where you will be able to view it and call the CGI customers and explain the while scenario. They will give you guidelines and rectify it. Don't email . Call them from Monday to Friday working hours. Do not panic and don't give up .

NL could have given you better info than your agent.. We ve have said here 1000 times… avoid agents if you’re going for F1/F2, but una no dey listen. Your paid agent messed you up… when you could have gotten some free help/info from NL members here.

You need to go pay your sevis fee. Who paid the MRV fee for you? If you did, you should have a GT emailed confirmation… if your agent did…. Ask him or her to reprint confirmation email from GTB.

Easiest way is to ask a friend/relative in the US to pay for you while you reimburse them in Naira.

OR
You can explore other options suggested by NL members.

Good and practical solutions offered! The so-called agent created a mess and more work for him/her. It seems the agent didnt know anything about SEVIS fee?
How did the applicant forget sevis fee?

Hey !

They VO expects you to dress as you claimed . That means you re a student dress as a student , you re a PhD holder dress as a prospective professor..you re a businessman ..dress as one etc . But no matter what ..Appearance still shows the manner . Nevertheless, there is no stipulated policy or law on what and what to wear ...but be polite and put moderation in whatever attire you wear . Cheers !

Hey !
US embassy (VO) doesn't check your loan or credit background in Nigeria except if you have indicated (mentioned such ) in your DS 160. You have the best chances of F1 visa success with your full tuition scholarship but you still needs prayer and more ideas from the past successes. Forget about the naija or whatever loan and focus on getting appointment, preparing for visa interview and the necessary documents to take along . You will get your visa ...have faith and be positive. Cheers .

Sorry I wasn't aware that you got the admission from a uni with a rock-solid scholarship.. I thought you were going straight to a community college.🙌🏿
Does your 1-20 say associate or bs?
Is this like pre-nursing/pre-pharmacy kinda of admission?

Hey !

VO s usually ask ..Why this University ? Why did you choose this program or what will this program do for you ? What's your post study plan ? Those are usually 1st questions of VOs.

In anyways mention Bsc . Have it in mind that you have been admitted for a Bsc program because your host - University says you will complete it in 4 years to bagged a Bsc. So you re going for a Bsc program . However if the VO wants to tackle you and say ..But your I 20 reads an associate program ..tell him that your I 20 can read associate program but the school will Honor you with a Bsc certificate after 4 years . Print out a correspondence (email) between you and your admission counselor to show the VO ..IF THE SCENARIO ARISE . But be positive.

Please I am new to this thread and I would appreciate some answers from the gurus in the house.
I am a graduate of Pharmacy and would like to do an Msc in biomedical engineering in the US.
Please which scholarship oppurtunity can I apply for?
Must I write IELTS or GRE?

Hey !

Welcome. If you have the time write the GRE or IELTS but i will advice you to Google Universities in the USA that offers scholarship s in biomedical engineering. OR write to the International Admission offices of those Universities. Ask them if they will waive standardized tests (GRE , GMAT..etc) for you and let them know your graduating CGPA in order for them to determine your enrollment and scholarship opportunities.

Keep mailing Universities in the USA. Google is your friend . Be positive ..you will find help with those schools because American Universities count International students as a springboard to good reputation.

Hi guys,
Please how do I pay my sevis fee from Nigeria.

I was able to pay visa fee via gtbank online and now I have gone to so many banks, they have constantly maintained that they only receive western union but can't processed western union for my sevis.

Kindly help guys.

Hey !

Just like BigIyanga has advised .. Having someone paying for you via Western Union from the United States is the best . Alternatively, in the case you may have someone in Cotonou ..Benin Republic, you can also pay from there . Or just go to Cotonou yourself if you have the time . Cheers .

Hey !

The answer is NO ! You can apply for normal appointment without SEVIS receipt but to apply for F1 student visa EMERGENCY appointment, the attachment of your Form I 20 and your SEVIS payment receipt are part of the requirements to qualify . Go to Cotonou yourself if you cannot find anyone in the US that will assist you to make the payment . SEVIS FEE PAYMENT IS A MUST !!! Don't give up.
