Hey !

If your niece is going for student visa appointment these are what i know she should take along :

1. Signed Form I 20. 2. MRV Payment receipt . 3. SEVIS payment receipt . 4. Her academic credentials . 5. Bank statement /scholarship award letter . 6. US embassy Appointment Confirmation printout . 7. DS 160 confirmation print out (showing his or her photo).

To my knowledge those re the necessary stuffs. I don't get the APPLICATION LETTER you mentioned.

Dear Forum,
If anyone looking for student visa interview dates see that they the US Consulate in Lagos and US Embassy in Abuja have opened dates in December 2023 for the Spring 2024 intake, please kindly inform the forum.

I am looking for dates for my F1 student interview to book for the Spring 2024 intake, and the system keeps saying ''no available dates now'' both in Lagos and Abuja. I was refused a student visa F1 in July 2023 and have to get another Form I-20 with another course and lower tuition and higher scholarship amount.

Thanks
Bethy

Hey !

VO s usually ask ..Why this University ? Why did you choose this program or what will this program do for you ? What's your post study plan ? Those are usually 1st questions of VOs.

In anyways mention Bsc . Have it in mind that you have been admitted for a Bsc program because your host - University says you will complete it in 4 years to bagged a Bsc. So you re going for a Bsc program . However if the VO wants to tackle you and say ..But your I 20 reads an associate program ..tell him that your I 20 can read associate program but the school will Honor you with a Bsc certificate after 4 years . Print out a correspondence (email) between you and your admission counselor to show the VO ..IF THE SCENARIO ARISE . But be positive.
Good pointsโ€ฆ even though the original question didnt come from me, I was trying to find it out what is the offered degree program in his/her I-20?

If itโ€™s a BS program, I would not make mention of any associate program since I have been offered a 4-yr scholarship.

If VO brings it up, I would say that itโ€™s a 2-part program.. 1st part entails taking prerequisites within associate degree curriculum.

Then, 2nd part entails taking core major courses culminating in a BS degree completion.

I would like to know from OP, why did you choose undecided major?

Hey !

The answer is NO ! You can apply for normal appointment without SEVIS receipt but to apply for F1 student visa EMERGENCY appointment, the attachment of your Form I 20 and your SEVIS payment receipt are part of the requirements to qualify . Go to Cotonou yourself if you cannot find anyone in the US that will assist you to make the payment . SEVIS FEE PAYMENT IS A MUST !!! Don't give up.

Okay thank you for your responses

Hey !

Travel agents have been in existence before the advent of internet and they will always exist because not everyone has the time of DO IT YOURSELF. Nevertheless, if you want to patronise a travel agent be 100% certain that he or she is genuine and knows about the job.

HOWEVER ....Nobody can claim any SLOT regarding an International Conference or Seminars, if one conference application is closed there is always another conference that will be available all through each days of every year. In that respect , the agent that claimed THERE IS 4 SLOTS REMAINING was only trying to rush you into applying (although he or she may have a good intentions).

Another point is that after the conference and hotel reservation , you will have to face the music of the process of B1/B2 visitor's visa which no one can guarantee 100%.

Having said this , if a genuine and EXPERIENCED travel agent handles your visa, the probability of the success is 85% compare to a novice or someone who doesn't know anything about visa processing.

BE CAREFUL ANYWAYS AS YOU PROCEED WITH YOUR SOJOURN..... Don't give up.

Hey !

Your list above is interwoven ...BUT I WILL CHOOSE.

1. Payment of SEVIS fee ...because it will cement your Form I 20. SEVIS department are the one responsible for your I 20 record . YOU also need to attach SEVIS receipt to be able to qualify for emergency appointment if need be .

2. Payment of Visa fee... Without it you cannot book an appointment.

3. Filling of DS 160.....you need the DS 160 confirmation number to be inputted in your CGI page and it must reflect in your appointment confirmation letter . The US embassy also knows everything about you via your DS 160 confirmation number .

4. Going ahead to book your appointment.

Cheers .

Why cant you find a conference that is relevant to your field/interest by yourself. A travel agenf doesnt improve your chances of getting approved during interview.
Matter of fact, US Embassy discourages applicants from using agents/brokers.
