Once upon a time the biggest pop artistes in Nigeria were on the Polygram Records label. The 2 biggest international record companies in Nigeria were Polygram and E.M.I. There were others, like CBS Records for example, but Polygram and EMI were the biggest.

The managing director of Polygram Nigeria was a Dutch man called Ton Seysener. He made a massive contribution to the promotion of Nigerian music.

However, the Dutch pulled out of Polygram Nigeria during the economic crisis of the SAP era and Nigerians took over the company sometime around 1990. It was renamed Premier Music and there's a Premier Music channel on YouTube where you can find most of the big Nigerian pop songs of the 1990s.
