It's not worth killing someone because you want to escape arrest. The way lives are being taken deliberately in this country is saddening. Stop endangering your fellow humans.

The driver of the Honda Saloon car with number plate EPE 984 DV that rammed into the Lagos State Waste Management Authority sweepers while they were discharging their duties along Gbagada Expressway on Monday morning has turned himself in to the police.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development to our correspondent on Tuesday.

Hundeyin said the driver would be charged to court on Tuesday for manslaughter.

He said, “The owner of the Honda Saloon car turned himself in yesterday (Monday) night and he will be taken to court today for manslaughter.

"It was not murder, it was an accident and was not deliberate, so he will be charged with manslaughter.”

It was earlier reported that the driver after crushing the two LAWMA sweepers took off leaving his car.

He was reported to have rammed into the sweepers while allegedly trying to escape from officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.

However, the Ministry of Transportation in a statement on Monday night denied the involvement of LASTMA officials in the accident, stating that anyone found culpable after investigation will be punished accordingly.

The statement partly read, “Immediate investigation revealed that no LASTMA officer was involved in the unfortunate incident.

“The Ministry of Transportation wants to assure members of the public that the outcome of the police investigation will be made public and anyone found culpable would be made to face the consequences of the law.”

They are not yet done with the investigation but the poster is already absolving LASTMA of any wrongdoing. Why not wait till after due investigation by the appropriate authorities

You are making a reasonable comment because the news story didn't show the driver's name and you realize that he's Igbo. If that had been the case, it would have been an entirely different comment.

Well, I have repeatedly maintained that the brain of most Black people isn't better than a Pentium One processor.

LASTMA hooligans looked for a way to exonerate themselves by all means.
That aside, the Lagos State government should enforce the use of safety equipment like reflective clothings, cones etc by their street sweepers so drivers can see them on time especially in the dark. If the clothes they wear and the cones they set on the highways are not bright enough, I wonder what else you want.

The lastma guys too should be charged for culpable homicide along with the driver...why chase him? J's snap his plate nos and wait for him at his next renewal....somebody with sense need head that lastma unit.they are suppose to manage traffic situation and not enforcing traffic regulations.a separate squad that's tech savvy can even stay in there office with drones and catch traffic offenders including stupid danfos blocking road to pick n drop passengers ,track and seize the vehicle discreetly for infringement but guess what it won't happen because Nigerians like chaotic systems that's not auditable so they can fester in there corruption and that's d only reason why we don't protest the ineptitude and shenanigans of our politicians.
Am sure a danfo would hv plied that same one way n d lastma officers look away but once they see my car they jump in front or chase
