The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened to embark on strike, should the Federal Government fail to meet its demands. Naija News had earlier reported that NLC and Trade Union Congress (TUC), on Wednesday, suspended their nationwide strike over an alleged assault on the President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero. The unions said the suspension followed the intervention of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. The National Deputy President of the TUC, Tommy Etim, speaking with Punch revealed that the strike was suspended based on the trust the unions had in Ribadu. He said, “The NECs of the NLC and the TUC have suspended the strike. We did this based on our trust in the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu who gave us his word. We also saw that he wasn’t playing politics with our demands and he was ready and promised to follow up with everything.” When asked whether the suspension of the strike was indefinite, Etim said, “It is a temporary suspension. We are going to give them some time after which we will meet and if they fail to meet up, the strike resumes. “We listened to the NSA and he listened to us. He noted that Ajaero didn’t do anything wrong by going to Imo State. We must commend the NSA and it is because of him that there is a suspension of the strike.” Source: https:///Labour-Threatens-To-Resume-Strike-Insists-On-Demands 2 Likes

Suspension without deadline. The arrested culprits should have been mentioned or paraded. Let's wait for conclusion of investigation. We don't want any strike, that will be double suffering on the innocent masses. 1 Like |

2 days ago I made a comment on a thread that this Strike is not in the interest of workers or Nigerians, but those who are always praying for the destruction of the country started abusing me. Imagine what the body meant to fight for the welfare of common man turn itself too. 2 Likes |

seanfer:I hate hypocrites and double standard mofos in my life. The kind of election INEC conducted this year, is it for the interest of workers and Nigerian? The kind of judgments the judiciary has been passing, concerning the electoral fraud that took place. Are all those judgments for the interest of Nigerians? Have you ever wondered what these two bodies (INEC and judiciary) that are supposed to be neutral in partisan politics and protect the interest of Nigerians have turned into? No! You won't think of that because you are a blind APC supporter. Hypocrites everywhere! |

Mbanda: Common sense will tell you that this thread is about NLC. Are you saying those LP members that won their cases in court also bribed the Judges? If things don’t go you people’s way, then the process is bad. But when it is in your Favour all is well. 1 Like |

seanfer:I totally agree with you because of the following reasons: 1. If the strike was in the interest of the masses, how come the Governor won in all the 27 LGs of Imo state? 2. Was Imo the only state owning workers salaries? 3. Why did labour’s decide to strike when the election was very close? 4. Why was Ajaero flown abroad for medical treatment, when labour is opposed to government officials traveling abroad for medical purpose? 2 Likes |

seanfer:Common sense should have told you that, injustice when left untreated will beget more injustices. If you are with your senses, you should have asked yourself why NLC President is brutalized in the first place? And why did FG refuse to act when the news broke out? Besides, talking about LP members that won their cases in court, my question is how many of them succeeded? The corrupt system left one or two LP members to win, just to justify their fraudulent act and for people not to ask questions. we know all that. |
