Khyrvxjzy: The Federal Government knows that it cannot sack NLC workers for obeying strike and it cannot call off the strike. An attack on NLC President is a major disgrace to all civil and public servants. These may be the reasons why the Federal Government had to forget about the restraining order from industrial court and to resort to dialogue inorder to ensure that the strike is called off by NLC leadership |

iammo:Oga you're talking about the industrial court, so let's take it from there. There are legitimate and illegitimate strikes. If the labour Congress flouts an industrial court order, if the government deems it fit to sack those workers, there's nothing anyone can do because those workers embarked on an illegal strike. The only thing that's saving these workers is the unity of NLC and TUC. Once that unity is broken, wahala go burst |

Bmaster:. Most there are thousands waiting to replace them Unions can be broken by government.Margaret Thatcher did it It is a question of timing. To achieve this goal government can use a combination of legislation and state power. E.g those people who turn off electricity should face treason charges No strike should be allowed to state it's objective as SHUTTING down the country That should be declared to be treason You only strike if you have a legal dispute with YOUR EMPLOYER Ban Any kind of sympathy strike. Any company that loses money as a result of an illegal strike so declared by court should be able to sue the union for financial losses as well as union leaders in their personal capacity for compensation. Hit then in the pocket and bankrupt them Do you know government deducts union dues and remits to unions They should stop doing that Anyone who wants to pay his union should make the payment by himself at the mouth end You will observe payments drop drastically 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Government can adopt no work no pay. Government can sack workers but to sack the entire workforce will be mission impossible. |

An autocratic and dictatorial federal government will sack workers who follow due process before embarking on strike. |
Re: Can Federal Government Sack Nlc Workers Obeying Strike? by Gajagojo: 7:59pm On Nov 17, 2023 |
Eagle360:strategically you use divide and rule You won't sack them in one day Most workers there now did they get there in the first place?? The civil service is bloated . It is possible to put a condition on new employees. Only employ on contract basis. Gradually the number of unionized workers will be in minority |

Khyrvxjzy:ASUU that Buhari refused to pay, how come P. Tinubu agreed to pay their 10 months or so.. PMB just tried to remove J from Jesus for the lectures.. But on a normal ground they ought to be paid... And don't compare ASUU with NLC.. NLC holds all the workers in Nigeria Public or private.. If NLC give directive for strike government go pay.. |

Who pays the workers, who engaged them. Anyone that does things 2 things can equally disengage the workers. The union is an umbrella to fight for welfare under rule of engagements. |
