That was prior this ravaging age of tribalism and ethnicity. Meanwhile, I think that the population of the Igbos are being subdued for whatsoever reasons, may be political or so. 31 Likes 3 Shares |

Weird! Igbos use to be about x2 of Yorubas before but now Yoruba speakers are about x2 of Igbo speakers. Probably because they move more to Yorubaland and get yoruabanized on daily basis. Yoruba is now the biggest tribe in Nigeria sha. 7 Likes 6 Shares |

The greatest disservice to mankind is the existence of hausafulani in same country with South East n South South. They have done enough damage to my people over 70 years ago by suppressed data on population and resource endowment that are second to non in Africa. Imagine Igbos with 4million population in 1921 and Yoruba with just 2.1million at same period... 18 Likes |

Corn247:The biafran war almost annihilated a lot of Igbos with killings of over 3 millions of Igbos. The entire tribe could have been wiped out by Hausa/Fulani's if not for timely response of Victor Banjo that surrendered to a Yoruba man by the name BLACK SCORPION. Unfortunately Ojukwu killed him to massage his Ego. Just like the "Peter Obi" lost his election but doesn't want to accept defeat due to Ego. 15 Likes 5 Shares |

Corn247: Many people who called themselves Yoruba today were actually Hausas, fulani, nupe, igbos etc who got yoruabanized over time because of Yoruba liberal nature. Many ethnic group will go into exint in next 100 years while the major groups will swell up 2 Likes 1 Share |

So half of the population of the south was igbo was the civil so bad in the Igbos that they are now the third most populated tribe or is this one of Nigeria's attempt at revisionism 1 Like |

waynetee:Do you think this census only counted Igbos in Igboland? This is your greatest mistake, using SE to represent Igbos. The British counted Igbos Nationwide. If Nigeria include ethnicity in census the result will be the same. Nobody can "yorubanize" Igboman who owns a mansion in his village and returns home every Christmas 15 Likes |

waynetee:But they have igbo names, eat igbo foods, wear igbo cloths etc. If you give them a questionnaire and indicate tribe they will fill igbo there. Even by 1921 when this census was conducted Igbos are already in Lagos and Kano in large numbers but still counted as Igbos 18 Likes |

The economic epicentre of Southern Nigeria have always been largely centred in Eastern Nigeria, and if fairness,is allowed to reign devoid of the artificial meddling of the Nigerian government, it will continue to do so. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

People just go fishing to look for data to boost their inferiority complex 1921 census is of historical value to the extent that it happened I why do you accept census results that favour you and reject those that don't In 1921 the census was boycotted and resisted in many places because of the belief that they were .......were mostly for military conscription, taxation or subsidising the costs of imperial rule. The subjects usually found ways to resist them. You. ANSELM ODINKALU 2 Likes |

igwebuike01: That is what you want to believe That is an idea that is sweet in your stomach so you want it to be true The reality is that the Northerners in particular boycotted and resisted this 1921 census because they distrusted the motives Another census was carried out in 1931 look for it We are talking about an era when the main mode of transport was walking and the bicycle People need to pause and imagine what technology existed in the world in 1921 not to talk of Nigeria There was no radio station in the country at that time Stop for a moment to imagine a census in A Nigeria where most people were illiterate, there were no roads,no cars,no electricity,no radio ,no TV And people resisting it because not everyone accepted Colonial authority 1 Like |
