Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reportedly told Hamas leaders that it will not join a broad war against Israel at this time.

Khamenei said Iran was not informed of Hamas's invasion plans on Oct. 7 (unlikely given the year of planning it required) and that the Palestinian group is effectively "on its own" from a military standpoint.

In a separate message to the Americans, Iran stressed that it is not looking for an escalation of hostilities in the Middle East. It prefers to advance its hegemonic schemes at its own pace.

But the ayatollahs did warn the US that if Israeli "aggression" against Gaza continues, "all options are on the table."

This activity was done in parallel with the IDF activities to locate and thwart terrorism in the hospital.
