A ferry with 144 passengers sank on its way from Nassau to Blue Lagoon in the Bahamas, causing the death of a 75-year-old American tourist.

Watched this stuff on YouTube, and it was quite vivid and scary. Seeing nothing but open water without land in sight, knowing you're not a good swimmer is quite scary.

Apart from the life vests, I would have dismantled parts of the boat to use as floatation device. Because people put their 100% fate in life vest; only to enter water to discover it is faulty or just a temporary floatation solution.

Sharks are territorial but there are measures to discourage them from mauling when in the water.
- excessive splashing of water
- direct hit to their nose
- if you're female, make sure you're not on your period.

- having your drowned carcass eaten by sharks
- or have a chance of fighting and eventually surviving (even if it is minus a limb)
