iokpebholo: The judgement of the court of appeal was very clear. Conduct another ward congress or lose the right to field candidates for election. This is not about primaries. If there is a judgement preventing PDP from participating in the election, it can be used both as a pre and post election matter. Next time, PDP should do the right thing by complying with the judgement of the court. It happened to APC in Zamfara and heaven did not fall. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Most critics of the judiciary seem to be oblivious of the fact that the right to contest an election is based on the electoral guidelines and laws which must be strictly adhered to to avoid ones political opponents from exploiting any loophole. If a candidate is not validly nominated to contest, such a candidate cannot hide behind the claim that it's an internal matter of the party. Although, the parties are at liberty to nominate whosoever they desire, such a nomination must follow due process. Adieu, Muftwang! 1 Like |

Triplerg: It said nomination was a political party affairs. 2ndly, that Shettima never contested for nomination as VP, that he was picked. Therefore, double nomination did not arise. In this Case, it's like there's no PDP in Plateau state. Do you get it? It doesn't have EXCO in the state. So, PDP killed itself. Just as Court said APC doesn't have legally recognized EXCO in Rivers State in 2019 and as such couldn't present candidates for election. Common open your mindset and stop the sentiment bcoz of your hatred for APC. You all laughed at APC Rivers State then. Now, it's PDP and you're shouting Tinubu up and down. Law is not about sentiment or entitlement but justice. 2 Likes 1 Share |

iokpebholo: You either forgot or did not know: it was PDP vs PDP that led to the judgment wherein the court held that ANY candidate the PDP fronts is invalid until the court order to hold proper internal elections was obeyed. Since the court says no PDP candidate is valid, it is therefore a POST election matter as well and any party has the right to challenge it. 3 Likes |

Alphagan: The basic details is PDP's refusal to follow court order. The Judge stated further: “It is a joke taken too far for a political party to disobey an order of court,” he added. He noted that a court of law has jurisdiction to entertain a matter bordering on a political party especially if that party disobeys a subsisting order of a court. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Triplerg: The lawyer for APC said something in his press conference. I think people confuse the right of another party to meddle in the nominee of another party versus a party that does not exist in the yes of the law. From what I understand from what he said, the argument was not in how PDP chose its candidates, that is not APC’s business. The challenge was that by law PDP did not conduct a valid congress in plateau and therefore they do not exist in the eyes of the law. Since they do not exist, they cannot field candidates. 2 Likes |

This is a season of Judiciary- affimation of Laws and Facts - that have been seriously abused by ALL the Political Parties in Nigeria, thinking that the Judiciary will follow Politicians ways of anything goes! Even in America ,former President Trump-was told by the Judge in a Civil Fraud Case recently in New York 'to comport himself because ,the Court is not a Political arena, neither should he be making Political Statements ' We want to hear from their gaulibles audiences,in Nigeria especially, the paid agents- deceitful ones, who don't understand, how the laws works, but because they seat in their Comfort Zones and believe that, since they lost elections conducted on Social Media, then, everything is rigged! Una go explain tire! 1 Like |

fergie001: They have boasted they will use their connect in the judiciary to take power. Infact they said d governor won't last beyond mid January. imagine someone saying over his dead body and swearing with the grave of his father. The PDP house of assembly members will go and if the governor wins at the supreme Court then instability and impeachment is the next option. So with a given set of judges overseeing the Plateau case suspicion is rife. of course you can't accuse the judges of 'par incuriam', they know what they are doing. Do you remember Isa Salami & Katsina Allu brohaha over Sokoto in 2007? it happens but most lawyers pretend as if they don't know what is happening. 1 Like |

iokpebholo: Apc did not challenge the right of PDP to choose its candidates. Precedence on this subject has already been established….it is not on their business. What APC said is that as far as the law is concerned, since PDP did not follow the guidelines for its plateau state congress and disobeyed a court order ( which I assume was filed by aggrieved members of PDP in plateau) PDP plateau state does not exist in the eyes of the law. What does not exist cannot produce something, therefore all candidates of PDP are unrecognized in the eyes of the law. It is not the choice of candidates, that APC challenged, what APC pleaded in court is that there is no PDP in plateau state. And the judges agreed. As for pre election and post election matters he cited section 134 (1). The grounds for disqaualification being that PDP did not exist is plateau state since they breached the rules for congress. Therefore the entire structure of PDP in plateau is null and void and does not exist under the law. 1 Like
