The word Mermaid was derived from the French word "Mer" which means Sea.So the English word invariably means Maid of the Sea,or woman of the sea.
The word was inspired by encounters of sailors in the medieval times of Europe with water spirits which manifested in forms of half human,half fish.
As the ages went, the term later began to be applied to mythological creatures being half human and half fish.
Now with the advancement of modern science and technology, the cartoon character Ariel in the cartoon "The little Mermaid" greatly popularized the notion of mermaid in the Western world.
But in reality, the mermaid form is a symbolic form often assumed by Water spirits.

don't say they don't exist because you have not seen one,do you know that 90% of the world ocean deep has not been explored,infact we know more about outer space than the oceans,and sightings and eye witness accounts of mermaids were recorded even by the ancient epyptains and Romans,there must be a Spectre of truth in such

I watched a video on X where some fishermen tried to pull out a weird Nd ugly creature from the sea. They call it mermaid Nd it's very very ugly. So are u still saying mermaid doesn't exit...

They are demons. Part of the fallen angels. Just as witches are described as the prince of the air, mermaids are described as queen of the coast.

Their manifestation may not be in form of ordinary eyes seeing them but the spirit possesses humans mostly at conception through linkages with the parents, vows made to deities in the course of seeking conception, family spiritual foundation etc.

Life is a mistry.
