Whats the origin of the word okada?

Because the first bike rider in Nigeria was from a town called Okada, in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State. . . Okay, this is a joke.

Every Nigerian ought to own a portion of the Federal Capital Territory. Abuja is our common heritage as Nigerian citizens.

There is a town in Edo state called Okada.
The Esama of Benin( Chief Igbinedion) floated an airlines called Okada airways, it didn't survive. Bikes were called Okada because of there speed and swiftness in getting you to your destination. Just like an airplane would.

Due to the fact that motorcycles could easy meander thru tough terrain with ease and it was fast just like the okada airline aeroplanes. people started calling it okada, like the airliner.

There used to be an airline called okada

It was based in Benin.

If I recall the name was attached to bikes because of the speed to your destination. And alot of edo slang seems to be organic. Most car nicknames also originated from edo.
