Governor Charles Soludo has emphasized the role played by the Bakassi Boys in substantially improving the security landscape of Anambra State during the tenure of the late former Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju.

In a video posted on YouTube by Channels TV, Soludo recounted the challenging scenario when Governor Mbadinuju, affectionately known as 'Odera,' assumed office. At that time, the state grappled with a heightened crime rate, deterring people from visiting, and prompting women to seek refuge in churches at night due to fear of criminal invasions into their homes.

Soludo highlighted a specific incident where armed robbers attacked buses, resulting in the loss of all passengers in broad daylight. Responding decisively to the escalating crime, Governor Odera introduced the Bakassi Boys, a vigilant group recognized for their assertive crime-fighting methods. According to Soludo, this intervention had a profound impact on Anambra's security, transforming it from a state plagued by fear and crime to a more tranquil and secure environment.

In Governor Soludo's words: "Those of us who were old enough at that time to remember that as at the time Odera ascended office as governor, you could not come to Anambra State. I remember at times I will be driving from Enugu, immediately you get to Anambra your heart beat will rise because you were not sure that you were going to go back with your car. Then, people have forgotten that in the night, women will leave their homes with their children to go to sleep in churches for fear that armed robbers and criminals would invade and forcefully sleep with them in front of their children".

Anambra especially Onitsha in the 90s was hell. The introduction of Bakassi Boys was unorthodox but it calmed things down a little.

Then Upper Iweka was at your own risk. In the 90s and early 2000s it wasn't as organized as it is now.

Saying this to Tinubu's MISCREANTS supporters who always ask why Peter Obi did not turn Anambra into Dubai or Paris. πŸ˜πŸ˜•πŸ˜•

This is no different to ugm today. Anambra has always been epicenter of criminality and home of criminals.

That’s wrong and one of the major reason that often leads to breakups

Instead of she to be at home with her husband she prefers church and I can’t accept that

Those are misled women. If your woman sleeps in church then something is wrong with the man in managing his home.
