Useless banks. Once they know you are outside the country, they even pray you don't return so they can hijack your savings

Stop keeping money you're not using in naira. Stop keeping them in banks. Buy Bitcoin. If you keep large amount in Nigrian banks, it's a matter of time before the robbers in the bank (criminal staff) or the robbers on the street (bad police) or even the boss robbers (professional armed robbers and kidnappers) steal it from you. I remember once driving from Lagos to Abuja at night, how some policemen stopped me somewhere in Kogi or Edo and made me transfer some money to an account on a trumped up charge. If you're alone and at night, you just have no option. Folks, think crypto to save yourself from undue theft. Save the bulk of your cash in a hardware wallet at home and not on your phone. Nigerians are endangered species.
I was loving ur comment until u said 'buy Bitcoin'

Do not deposit your life savings on Binance, I hope you know that Binance is an crypto exchange and not a crypto wallet.

Step by step best way to store then?

Good option. However, those who do not want to tow this path should simply have an alternative account. This account should be frozen (no Internet banking or USSD banking should be enabled). With this setup, one can only withdraw money from his or her account via the counter. Assuming any fraudulent withdrawal is meted on this account, the owner can sue the bank with his or her full chest knowing fully well that it is an inside job.

ECO Bank is a terrible bank. I closed my account with them, when I was withdrawing from their ATM machine, and saw some N50 notes in between the N1000 notes .

The problem is not only with Ecobank but all Nigeria banks. I keep telling people, if you think Opay, Kuda or Moniepoint are not safe, it means you never had issue with traditional banks before.

About 9k was dubiously deducted from my account, up till now, nothing is done to return the money despite visited them several times. And if you call their customer care representatives, they will say you should visit any of their branches near you.

He just took the right step by publicising the matter, otherwise, the bank will do nothing no matter the evidence he provided before them.

I do not personally like any account I open to be inaccessible to family members if anything happens to one.

If I go by this your statement, it means family has to 1st go report demise at bank( even if via email) and go through ALL rigorous paths to get the money with LETTER OF ADMINISTRATION. It is enough for them to be sad, not good adding more burden to them. It is better they eat the money than for bank to use the excuse of nobody coming forth to claim the money due to some bureaucracies.

That is why I tread with caution banks with facial identifications that are apps, u don't put too much for too long there, because if anything happens, u can't get the money at the bank till the facial identification is done.... So, a family member with resemblance to the person has to do it or a twin.

If the culprit was an Igbo or Yoruba, you would have seen hateful speeches everywhere.

What's the origin of the feud between Igbos and Yorubas here on Nairaland 🤷
The foundation is civil war.
What is causing today's own is yoruba romance with hausa that brought Buhari in.

And wat happens when btc depreciates ?
I do liquidity mining with stables and ETH and I also manage my portfolio with Bitget smart portfolio bot. So, if Bitcoin depreciates, I will have more Bitcoin with my stables and if it appreciate. It will automatically take profit from Bitcoin. I also earn some Certain amount in APY doing this in both Liquidity mining and Bitget smart portfolio bot. So, Im not always bothered about BTC going down cos i get more of it as it goes down and we are also still early.

Sue the bank and they will provide the person that his or her sign off was use to debit your account.. Dont even agree you know any of their staff. Your case should be with the bank.

Wema bank but visit or email ( alat) them, don't do their app savings to get more yield.

Palmpay.... Fair money( Has facial identification though).

We have other good banks BUT not for savings to get yields.

No. Those are mere hot wallets because you access them via the internet. You do not put huge amounts in them. CEXs are centralized exchanges like Binance. You do not leave very large amounts in CEXs. Hardware wallets store your funds offline.
