The Jan 15 coup was basically a group of army officers carrying out their own version of the revolution. Idoubt the British approved (especially since the First republic government was pro-western in orientation)..but with the Cold war, compromises had to be made, so coupists were overlooked.

I doubt Mossad was influencing coups after 1973, when we broke off relations with Israel till 1993.

If the Jan 15 coup had succeded, it most likely would have ended with a leftist government in charge (one of the civillian members of the complot was an out and out marxist...who later got executed by the Biafran government after the Midwest debacle..for plotting against Ojukwu).

IMF would still collect, and no one would invest in a country that defaults on its debt.
