Beremx:Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. It is wickedness to build on illegal places, to even settle officials to build those structure shows the builder and the officials are evil people. so they're facing their music. There many empty lands in Lagos to build houses why buy land that is not available only to sand fill? Many sand filling of natural drainage still happening in Ojo Lagos. |

Truth234: You have not built in Lagos. Every construction site in Lagos gets monthly checks by officials from ministry of lands and buildings, LGA officials, Waste Management officials and the owners are mandated to post Approval reference on the wall or any conspicuous place.Even omonile agents are stationed on site 7hrs a day. Any statement that those building were not approved is a lie. If I was a victim, I will sue the state government. Nobody, I repeat, NOBODY builds anything in Lagos without: 1. C of O 2. Approved building plan 3. Payment of waste management fee 4. Evidence of toilet for construction workers 5. Omonile presence to prove you have settled them 4 Likes 1 Share |

If houses are built on drainage route, there is nothing wrong in Lagos state government acting. People that build on a canal or encroach on them, deep down, they know what they are doing is wrong and may have consequences, but as usual, they say, nothing will happen. I will always use Aminu jinadu close at iganmu industrial area as an example. One fella, a biggie came and built a warehouse right on the drainage path. Heavy flooding started. Infact, a thriving industrial area became flooded. Imagine heavy machines, generators, high voltage cables being under water. All those factories closed one by one in the late 90s throwing thousands into the unemployment market. Till date that place is heavily flooded. 1 Like 1 Share |

They are very good at playing the victim card. Slave victimhood mentality has been engrained in their brains since they were born. They can be the criminal or the perpetrator, and they will still be the victim. Such low-life OSU salve a victimhood mindset with an astonishing level of hypocrisy. Ojukwu started a war and still claimed to be the victim, Namdiot Coward Cownu tried the same shit, and is claiming to be the victim now. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Beremx: It is this mentality that will continue to ruin Nigeria as a country. People have done things against the law, the law was active when they did it but you are here blaming the government for not stopping them when they were doing it. You should be ashamed of yourself. I don’t care whether those who own the properties are Igbos, Yorubas or foreigners. Once you do anything against the law, you have yourself to blame. In whatever you want to do, employ professionals who will tell you the position of the law and abide by the law. It is foolish to be defending law breakers. 4 Likes |

If you have seen houses that have been destroyed and the sickness that has been caused by Stillwater as a result of the flooding caused by people erecting houses built illegally on water drainage routes, you will have no pity for those caught up in the demolitions. If you bought a ready built home in an estate, sue the developer. If you built yourself then you knew what you were doing was illegal. If you think you have legitimate papers sue the government. This thing is not by noise or propaganda. 5 Likes |

The man should have asked the interviewer that he is asking stwepid question instead of dignifying them with a reply for the headlines. If they demolish building in Anambra no one cry, why must Lagos own generate issue from the same people. Everything should go thr bleep down if you can’t get the neccessary approval even if the house is being built by Yoruba, Chinese, Ibo, Kanuri, or aliens. 1 Like |

I live in America. Two years ago I had a house built for me. The way it works in US is that building contractors work with the government to create new plots of land to be developed. The land is divided into plots and in my case, 5 house designs were approved and assigned to different lot. So, I chose one of them and had the house built after obtaining loan from the bank. I didn't have to know anything about any laws. It's the responsibility of the contractors and the government. Investors both local and foreign don't need to study law to be able to investor in any economic sector. 2 Likes |

1TrippleCee:their is no need for all this cry, you cant tell a people or govt with constituted authority where and when to start out their constitutional responsibility. Just the same way when soludo in Anambala was carrying out it duty, did you see an outsider or yoruba man complaining? We didnt simply because its not our business how you chose to govern yourself in your enclave, so therefore this is Lagos, the ancestral land of the yorubas and they dictate the tune or govern how they deem fit for the betterment of it people, you either respect their laws or you relocate back to our region or anywhere else they can tolerate your excessess damn! No be by force to live in lagos afterall lagos is an overhyped slum according to our flat head brother so why do you want to die in that slum |

Yoruba and other tribe's buildings where demolished also but those ones will never come out to start talking like kids. Just as the commissioner has said, if there is any person whose building was approved among the demolished building, let them come out. We know and we understand the frustration that makes many of these allegation surfaces BUT EVENTHOUGH WE SYMPATHISED WITH THOSE WHO GENUINELY WERE UNAWARED OF WHAT THEY WALKED INTO (AND HOPE THE GOOD LORD WILL STRENGHTEN THEM), WE AGREE THE STATE MUST NOT COMPROMISE ON THE URBAN REGENERATION PLAN AND THE CITY'S MASTERPLAN ADHERENCE. LAGOS STATE MUST BE GREAT WHATEVER IT TAKES AND THE STATE MUST REGAIN ITS GOOD PEDIGREE AMONGST THE COMMITTEE OF ADVANCE CITIES. GOD BLESS LAGOS STATE 1 Like |
