Their are ancient links between Benin and Yoruba land that must never be broken because of an Oba's banter. Don't take that bait. At the height of both of their powers, the Oyo empire was significantly larger than its Benin counterpart while Yoruba philosophy co ers West African, South American and even parts of the West Indies and even some states in N. America in scope. In spite of this, Benin and Lagos/Yoruba land remain close kin and kin do not insult each other.
