It is only an economic ignoramus that sees debt as a bad thing grin. Debt is a financial tool and can be used for financial freedom and economic gain. The States with the highest debt are the best-performing states in terms of infrastructure and IGR in Nigeria just like the USA is among the top 10 indebted countries in the world with the strongest economy and largest infrastructure.
No other state can compete with the listed states in terms of development and infrastructure grin

They said most indebted state, not debt free state, so don't think your state is excluded

Yes that is why Akwa Ibom borrow against that money and send the debtors to FB

That state is the best state in Nigeria in terms of financial state

They just haven't had smart leaders who would build a their human capital development

Building roads won't do it, building factories won't do it either

Abeg they should go and ask fg why they chose to abandon Akwa Ibom - Calabar road for many years

State like Delta was not suppose to be in that list, despite being an oli producing state, due to high corruption, there is nothing to show for it.
Pdp Delta State, despite collecting the highest allocation from The FAAC since the resumption of democratic rule in 1999?

Nothing to show, then we have Zombies from Delta State blaming the Federal government of Nigeria for their self inflicted woes.

Mumus it is Bola Tinubu & APC that is their problem, now again, they have gone to elect a semi illiterate as their present governor.

The dodomayanas from Southwest hate to see this list, grin very dumbo brains next is to mention US and China, they always trying to use IGR to cover shame, while their leaders borrow to pay salary, I don't know when these guys go get sense, every year same stupidity grin grin

They enjoy borrowing, I pity Nigerians, by the time they are through Nigeria will be most indebted country in the world with nothing to show for

Pity yourself first you hypocrite. Mention your state and letโ€™s see if itโ€™s better than the Southwestern states mentioned above.

You must think that building people is just some vague concept. Bros, it requires investment in a wide spectrum of areas, including education, infrastructure, industries, loans and grants, scholarship, etc.

Yes, you are wrong. Building infrastructure and industries help to improve the lives and GDP of a state. If not, show me one rich state without infrastructure and industries.

Lagos state with #1.97 trillion in debt stock, has the highest IGR but yet has:
1. No running water from the state water cooperation service.
2. No functioning drainage system as the landscape is riddled with stagnant gutters filled with greenish effluents.
3. Insecurity is rife with large swaths of Lagos being controlled by non-state actors (read: Agberos et.al) extracting rent and unofficial taxes.

Yet some unemployed cretin from Osun state, who has never done an honest day job in his life, will soon jump on this thread and say "Go back to Anambra".

Lagos, a Mega City, like Tinubu's brownish teeth.

Before I opened the thread, I expected Delta to be in the top 3 and I wasn't disappointed.

Delta state always comes top 3 In everything, top 3 with highest federal allocation, top 3 least developed, top 3 most indebted

Most rich states are always more indebted than poor states except some poor ones that didn't use their heads.
Just like rich nations like USA,China etc which are the most indebted in the world,it is much easier for them to pay because of their high IGR.
Lagos has the propensity and ability to pay up all its debts in two years which might actually take a state like Anambra more than 100 years to pay.

Before the entity called Nigeria, SW already had Lagos port and it was generating billions of naira (based on current evaluation). I am talking about as far back as 1890s. Look the list below to see those inhabiting Lagos then.

The population of the entire Lagos was less than 1,000,000 as at that time grin

The city has really come a long way
