Please where are you? Tell me the local government so I can know what the exact colour of your problem is.
The color of my problem is the likes of you, who haven't moved beyond your father's door mat, coming on social media to mouth off, and say things your empty head can never ever comprehend.

I ask you, which local government do you even reside in? Let's start from there, my empty headed loser.
Is the road you pass everyday world standard? Do you have running water in every household of your local government area? Is there even light right now as you're typing this? grin
What is world standard road? How do you define or know world standard road? Can you give a vivid example? Is such road located in your village? Do you ply such road? Are you en engineer for you to be able to ascertain what world standard road is? Here, I thought so, another loud mouthed comment coming from your diseased fingers.
The country is a rotting corpse where nothing works the cancer killed it long ago. There is nothing I will say about Nigeria that is a lie, if you don't like it cry.
the country is rotten because people like you made it rotten. People like you who see nothing good in it, thereby, contribute nothing other than complain and throw useless tantrum on social media. You, my simple minded friend, is among the cancer killing this country, and you need to be cut off. You're a disease that needs immediate treatment, and the treatment is to expunge you and your kind into the abyss of nothingness.

I won't be surprise you don't even pay NEPA bill, talkless of paying taxes and the likes, yet, here you are, mouthing off as usual.
Many hardworking people have died or gotten their work effort wiped away just by the stupidity of the masses. Go and listen to the son of the creator of Banana Island. This is how Nigeria treats honest and hard working people. This is the "culture" you're trying so hard to defend, a culture of greed and undercutting your fellow man.
Why should I go and listen to the son of the creator of banana island, why can't you post what he said here? Or are you showing just how foolish you are by mouthing off about things you know nothing about?

Look here, little man, you spoke of having water and power supply, if you don't have any of these, then my friend, you obviously fall among the lazy multitude, who do nothing but complain on social media and hope for freebies because that is what you like and crave the most.

Nigerians are doing wonders, yet goof balls like you are busy complaining on social media and showing your stupidity in full HD.

Give one evidence that confirms what you said and I’ll deactivate my account.

Let’s talk like smart people here.

Give an estimate of people that migrate out of the country to the countries you mention. For instance, there are like over 500,000 Nigerians in US, then how many of them are into crime or have been reported prosecuted? If you say 95%, then that means like 475,000 of them are into crime.

So give an evidence of something like this, provide the country, how many Nigerians are there and the number of Nigerians reported doing crime.

I am waiting
I want you to do research online about how many Nigerians are in foreign prisons... Mind you these are the ones that were arrested and prosecuted, some are expert in impunity, they have a way of running from one place to another after engagement in criminal acts!!!

I should go and do a research to confirm your theory?

So are you saying like 400,000 Nigerians are in prison using US as an example?

Do you know what 95% means?? Even saying 10% is a whole lottttt not to talk of 95%

I’ve told you to give me evidence where majority are into crime, and I’ll deactivate this account.

So you posted a link to a law created during the military dictatorship that states the governor can take possession of personal property at will and without compensation and you think this is a good thing? undecided

You also forgot where the man died while fighting the same government in court?

Leaving a widow and a child destitute after stealing their father's assets is the "culture" of Nigeria, theft, destruction and wickedness.

The above submission just confirmed are the daftest user on nairaland, enjoy the rest of your shithole nation. grin

It’s some of the guys that don’t want to date us grin most of my Nigerian friends only want seggs with their fellow Nigerian but will never want to be in a serious relationship with them.

So, it’s both gender.

Last last, everybody go dey alright grin

I have been abroad for a while now and i am curious to know why some of our ladies decline dating or marrying fellow Nigerians in the diaspora. I have tried to date a few any they are often quick to assume i am after them for their papers while i just prefer my own, someone who understands my culture and where i have come from. Even when i try to date the ones that don't have paper, regular work visa holders like me. They seem to want to be with the guys that have papers.

Also, when i am old, i would like to return to Nigeria. Marrying outside would make that transition very difficult.

I study other races, Immigrant groups from India and Asia. they work together well, and don't have these difficulty.

Should i give up on being with a Nigerian or keep trying ?

Regards.

In truth, there is a subset of women who are playing it safe and won't entangle with a new immigrant, because, unlike men, women's mistakes are fatal, and might not be corrected (eg being older and a single mom in debt because a wicked man used you). That's a recipe for permanent singledom.

So I don't blame such women who just avoid new immigrants or men whom they think havent reached a particular level since it's unlikely these men are looking for someone to use.

The heart of (wo)man is wicked, and it's always advisable to play safe, rather than sorry.

Most importantly, the relational dynamic between someone who has something (let's call her Mary), and the other person who doesn't have much (let's call him John), is that Mary has the responsibility to give out more.

Since Mary and John both understand that John doesn't have, Mary will keep helping John, giving him, in the hope that if John is in her shoes, he will do the same.

In such an unequal dynamic, it is hard for Mary to know John's true intent, since it's in Johns's interest to be on his best behavior and keep playing along. The virtue of John has not and cannot be tested in these circumstances.

It is the same dynamic with men who just sponsor girls in uni, and are heartbroken later on because such an unequal dynamic only favors the person that has nothing.

When the virtue of John's will is put to the test, is when he has leveled up and doesn't need Mary anymore. This is a risky game the average woman will not take, and women by default, know these dynamics very well. Women are far socially smarter than the average man.

This is deep. You’re definitely a smart dude.

I am not in the diaspora but I stumbled on a thread where someone made a sensible comment about this same issue.

They said something to the effect of everyone being too smart because of their papers/stay, nobody wants to compromise or make sacrifices, for the sake of an authentic relationship because too much sense is worrying all of you there.Na una know wetin dey worry all of you sha!

From my observations, there's a tendency in most of you japarians to gravitate towards self conceit and a vain superiority complex, where you start to think you're better than other Nigerians because;

1. You've lived in obodo for XYZ number of years or you have papers, so even new immigrant Nigerians are like an affront to you guys (meaning their very presence in your host country is like an offence)

2. You think with your papers you have finally arrived what can any Nigerian offer you again. But your papers alone don't provide healthy social interactions, good friendships or companionship, laughter and fun moments with others.

I see that superiority complex even here on NL with folks who haven't lived overseas for 2 years, I smile and shake my head, thinking to myself, poverty is really not a good thing. When you grow up privileged very little about the white man trips you to a point where you start to insult or look down on your country and fellow country men. Because you grow up knowing what your own people are made of and capable of. It's not so much about privilege alone, but having a healthy dose and sense of self worth, self esteem and self love.

My friend engaged an asian cabbie in conversation in the UK, while riding in his car. The cabbie told her it is very disappointing to see the way we Africans/Nigerians in particular behave overseas. He said we are quick to throw away our cultural values to embrace western ones, we are the ones who are quick to talk back to parents and disrespect them (that was an incident he witnessed in his cab with a Nigerian family)

Whereas he sees Indians, Chinese and some Asians hold onto their cultural values and practices, maintaining the family unit, and refusing to let the west negatively influence them. I think the cabbie's experience and narrative, may help you understand why you are having a hard time finding a Nigerian date.
Very insightful.

You will never see a naija guy in his first 2 to 3 yrs abroad look a naija babe way not to talk of courting her. Its when others he ran to has used him enough to dump him and also tell their people he is a scallywag, he will remember Nigerian babes.
So many of them.
They will badmouth naija babes to their foreign counterparts like they are rodents. Those ladies see the disrespect and you want them to settle for less?
I cringe anytime I'm in a company of foreigners and our guys are around. Sometimes, I will excuse myself cos the humiliation is too much. Also bear in mind, they have motive for rushing those people at first. Papers, boasting and boasting.

Not on this one. You didn't marry your ex, did you? You did business. Why not marry him since he is so good. Asking a man who broke up with an ex to sponsor her trip abroad to be his wife is corny as hell. That's not love or even attraction, but a transaction. If they met up and settled before he travelled out, it would have been better. Not after.

That you don't even see what's wrong with this setup shows me all I need to know.

Smiling and shaking my head. It's their desperation for me and the things they are willing to do for survival overseas. It's such a shame!

One naija guy created a thread 2 or 3 years ago talking about how he was shagged up with a single mother of 2 kids, the kids were rude and he couldn't correct them without the mother being upset or possibly sending him out of her house. He was living under the threat of being evicted if he didn't behave or align like a pet dog (that was my interpretation of his narrative)

Some of his logical gender people on the thread still gave him a pat on the back, with words of encouragement that the white woman is better than a Naija one, because with the white woman he can acquire papers but what can a Naija girl offer him, home and abroad.

The things they are willing to do, to japa and stay japa-ed is disappointing. And it's not like most of them had a bad life in Naija but inferiority complex will not allow them sit down in one place.

Abeg, shut it. You know nothing about hustle. Women tolerate worse just to leech men off their money and divorce them,so what's the issue? At least those guys are not stealing or raping or doing drugs. They just want a better life and are doing something about it, legally. And for a guy who wants papers, yes the white woman is way better than the naija women abroad because they got nothing to satisfy his wants.

The naija women abroad are no better. They run after white boys and other Africans with papers too, get fuqed mercilessly and DUMPED. Men with papers here are no fools. So it's not like the women are with them for love. Get your facts right, baby girl. Love is turning a mirage, and people always use people.

It's not your business why I didn't marry that particular ex. I was only emphasizing to you that people do not always break up on bad terms and exes do not have to be enemies. Not all relationships lead to marriage.

I advised the OP to look into his past and see if there's an available ex he got along with but broke up due to unforseen circumstances such as being separated by distance, or similar circumstances. I specifically suggested to him to avoid the toxic exes. Did you not read that part?

About travelling out, what's to say that any of his exes hasn't travelled out as well? She could very well be in his backyard or in a neighbouring country.

My last reply

No problem. I doubt we'll ever have similar view points about this anyway.
