Backwards how? Igbos had complex government system completely decentralised confederal republican government of different communities.

Igbos are way more ancient than any tribe in Nigeria and far more advanced.

My reasons are based on archeological facts

1. Nsude pyramids Udi Enugu State dated 2630-2610 BC

2. Igbo potteries they're distinct with Uli design which is an igbo artistic style Results indicate that pottery making has been in existence in the Igbo culture region since before 2000 B.C. The earliest evidence to date comes from Afikpo.
3. Igbo ukwu bronze works almost all dates back to the 9th century AD
The arts where first ever bronze work done in not just Nigeria but west Africa as a whole at that time using a lost wax casting method to make the surface well detailed.
The composition of the metal alloys used in the production of the bronze is unique, with an unusually high silver content and is distinct from alloys used in Europe, the Mediterranean or other African bronze centers
The Grove Encyclopedia of Materials and Techniques in Art describes them as being "among the most inventive and technically accomplished bronzes ever made cool

4. Nsịbịdị writting have been dated to 400 AD and even earlier

The list goes on!

Yorubas can't claim to make Lagos a former capital from 1914 -1991 that's a whooping 77 years of being capital. To buttress my point, what was Abuja like before 1991?
and What is it like today with just after just 32 years of federal presence? . The fact Anambra tops other SW states in GDP proves that Lagos wasn't made by Yorubas but obvious truth of its Cosmopolitan nature.

Ibos s never evolved anything more complex than the village level Umunna system of administration. It is romantic and fantastic to call yourself republicans.
What you had was Osu caste system, cannibalism, misogyny and more cannibalism.
A system in which women were made property to be trades with no say in government and no inheritance rights.

Stop all these delusional tales

Now tell us JUST ONE IBO TOWN where non-Iboes came to live among them before 1900.
There is none.
It was not possible to live among a people that practised cannibalism

Please tell us what NSIBIDI MEANS IN IBO LANGUAGE
WHY ARE YOU SUCH SHAMELESS LIARS

How is Nsibidi a n Ibo thing?

Yoruba ethnicity is the most Authentic Ethnicity in ALL the major tribes in Nigeria.......Fact!!!

We northerners , our culture has a lot of Arabic influence.....in our dressings ,greetings etc. Because of Islam.

In SS, look at the names, and mode of dressings, it is heavily influenced by the Catholic Europeans. See how they put cufflings, Bowler Hats and neck ties on their attires.

In SE, look at their first names , mostly English. Look at their Head warmers, it is meant for Winter/Cold Season which has no relation to the South Eastern Climate at all.....this is very european!

In SW, look at their Aso oke, Aso Ebi, their Abetiaja cap[I hope I am correct with the spelling,I am not Yoruba lol]. EVEN in faraway Brazil and Cuba, they STILL wear Yoruba attires for occasions.

I have soooo much respect for Yoruba Culture and its unique Authenticity.......It is not adulterated or watered down like the others

Damn.... Look at all these uncivilized white savages.

SMH.

YOU KNOW THE REAL PROBLEM WITH BLACK FOLK?

WHITE PEOPLE DON BRAINWASH YOU.

THAT IS WHY A THREAD LIKE THIS EVEN EXISTS.

The whole idea that not donning clothes make you ''uncivilized'' is a propaganda view that WHITE EUROPEANS living in a freezing environment, invented in order to force those they conquered to become ''more like them'', wearing clothes from head to toe.

BUT THERE IS NO BASIS FOR LINKING CLOTHES-WEARING TO CIVILIZATION.

Our ANCESTORS who built the great pyramids and temples of Egypt and Nubia, invented mathematics, writing, architecture, medicine, philosophy, law, and the sciences, did not dress head to toe in clothes:

Pharaoh Tutankhamun

Pharaoh and Queen

Don't mind them. The biggest reason why many of them were clothed was because of Islam. If not for that, they would have dressed in a similar fashion to the Igbo women there. The same oyigbo people that they're trying to copy are the same ones promoting nudity in their own countries.

Which humiliation? I've never seen the British compare their past to that of Nigeria. Why? Because they are currently far superior in every metric point.

You only start to make such comparisons when you have nothing to show in the present.

If, truly, your people have been civilised for the past 200+ years, why are you in the situation you're in now? How on earth did the Igbos (who were so uncivilised, according to you) manage to catch up to you so fast?

This thread has been a low key insult to the Yoruba nation and they can't even see it. cheesy

You lied and claimed what is not yours
The reality and contention is that Igbos were quite backward compared to Yoruba and other Southern groups
They should not claim they developed Lagos when we know them to be quite primitive

The truth of the matter is the British developed Lagos, not Igbo and not Yoruba. After the British left, Lagos was still the capital of Nigeria and it was then developed by all Nigerians.

To say that Lagos was developed by the Yoruba is like saying Abuja was developed by the Gwari tribe. I have never seen anyone say the latter so why do you people keep insisting on the former?

My Igbo brethren that insist on saying Igbos developed Lagos are wrong. No, we didn't develop Lagos but we helped to, just like all Nigerians did.

Lagos is Yoruba land but considering its history, as long as it's in Nigeria, Yoruba people have to accept that it's for all Nigerians. You can't have your cake and eat it two.

I think it's better to compare like with like. You're comparing yoruba women with igbo maidens undergoing marriage preparation.
