LikeAking: As fine as you claim the streets are fine who sleeps there at night or bath there....those living in lekki are they minimum wage earners? Those living in lekki, vgc banana island earn more than £10 an hour you know why should a minimum wage earner wants to live there even bobo londoner cannot find a place like that in London to live. Which dogs different from those German shepherd, bull mastiff that people own here in Nigeria that eat any food when hungry....please don't tell me you still rate oyinbo dog more than yourself? rice with one meat on top is better than rice with mashed meat stew on top |

You be werey, the person bought all 5hise item with one hour wage and in Nigeria the monthly minimum wage is 30,000 and you are still comparing Nigeria with US and UK. May be na night school you attended. UK & US ARE OVER-RATED NIGERIA IS STILL BETTER in terms of cost of living see a practical example why doing a price comparison: 1 pound to 1 naira today is N1,001 so are you saying with £10 x N1,001 = N10,001 you cannot buy everything in that basket and collect change in Nigeria today? 1 Sliced Bread = N800 2 Spaghetti = N1400 1 Gesha = N600 1 live chicken = N3,000 1 75cl soya Oil = N1,400 1 Midium size Butter = N600 2 Gino Tomato paste = N1,000 Total = N8,800 so your change is N1,200 that's if you exchange pound to naira at offical rate and buying at the most expensive stores or high brands. If you exchange at black market rate and buy at public market "days" you will collect as much as N6,000 after buying everything in that basket....that's about £6 left. LET'S JUST THANK GOD FOR WHAT WE HAVE AND STOP LOOKING AT AND GLORIFYING ANOTHER MAN'S LAND MORE THAN OUR OWN....OUR OWN NA OUR OWN O [/quote] |

LikeAking: Processed food arent healthy at all. They are the cause of many diseases. This is the difference between rich and poor people abroad. The richer you are, the more organic food you eat, if you are poor, you are more likely to eat processed food. Organic foods are very expensive abroad compared to processed food. Here in Nigeria organic foods are cheaper while processed foods are expensive. Reason is because many are imported. 1 Like |

psalmsjob: I'm certain you lack critical thinking skill. How can you convert pounds to naira to comparison. The right number should be What's an hour minimum wage in Nigeria. In UK, an hour minimum wage is 10 pounds but a months minimum wage in Nigeria is 30,000 naira. Convert 10 pounds to naira at the rate of 1450, that's 14500 naira, half of your months minimum wage here. Its way too expensive for Nigerians to live in their own country. 2 Likes |

StainlessCup: your analysis does not make sense why are you converting to naira? is the person spending naira in the UK the same person complaining of 30k minimum wage in Nigeria, their counterpart in the UK, those earning 1200 pounds per month are also complaining in the UK just because you here pounds does not mean the person is enjoying life in the uk |

psalmsjob: You are not being realistic here. With an hour job, one is able to afford those items. Now how many hours can these be achieved in Nigeria? If one spend 5 to 6 hours doing job a day, you know how much that will be in Nigeria currency? How many people earn that in a month for countless hours in Nigeria? Stop dribbling the brainless ones |
Re: Cost Of Living In Nigeria Is Cheaper Than UK Or US by motymop: 12:59am On Dec 04, 2023 |
Deogratiasfx: another ignorant comment Many people earn small in the UK, few people earn well, it is the same in Nigeria 80/20 pareto principles just because a person earn in pounds does not mean his/her salary is enough for their well keep salaries are paid according to standard of living, the higher the standard of living the more things get expensive. so employer will pay to meet up with the standard of living. someone earning $5k a month in San Francisco might be struggling to put food on his table because of how expensive the city is, but to you when you hear that amount from Nigeria, you will think he is balling when in reality he cant put food on his table. if you bring it back home, someone earning that same $5k in Nigeria will live a wonderful life in Nigeria because of how cheap the country is. someone earning 1m naira per month in Nigeria will live a good life while someone earning the equivalent of 1m ($1226) in the uk or us will be literally poor. That same person earning $1226 per month in the US or UK, if he / she moves to Nigeria, they will live a good life in Nigeria. |

Difrent: Bro you sound very myopic. Did anybody stop you from moving. Or didn't these doctors pay school fees. Do you know the amount the exams cost for you to qualify to practice in uk? Education generally used to be subsidised in Nigeria not just medical training. Instead of you to attack your govt that has refused to allow other Nigerians live a good life you are here attacking those that decided to seek for greener pastures. Lest you forget subsidising Education is the least the govt owes it citizens and stop making it look like they have done any tangible thing from the our collective oil or tax payers wealth. You are as clueless as the op. |

MT: Well, to be fair at least he has a roof over his head and is still able to save something no matter how small afterwards, how many people in Nigeria can say the same in the current economic situation? TV license is per residence so inclusive in bills. Internet is peanuts, you can get more than enough data for ~£15 on a payg plan. The transport network in London is very good, you can do without a car and still get around. I think the point still remains that OP's comparison is not only deceitful, it is incorrect. |
Re: Cost Of Living In Nigeria Is Cheaper Than UK Or US by AsaBlackheart(m): 1:14am On Dec 04, 2023 |
psalmsjob: But you forgot that it's minimum wage over there... hourly to boot. That's #10k per hour approximately... Assuming you work 4 hours a day, that is #40k per day. If you work 4 days a week, that is #160k per week, 640k a month. Minimum wage here is 33k per month. Rethink this. |

Fa44me: Employers here in Nigeria do not pay per hour, also in the UK they do not give you cash per hours, per hour is just a rate for your time work so as to calculate your monthly income. Most of the time, in these type of jobs, the average hourly pay has to be at least the National Minimum Wage. just because an employer is willing to pay you 10 pounds per hour does not mean when you are given your monthly paycheck, it will be enough to cover your living cost that is because 10 pounds is the minimum wage for time work. the same person earning 10 pounds per hours which is minimum wage in the UK his counterpart in Nigeria which is 30k per month cant enjoy the good things of life. both of these individuals are struggling in the different countries they live in. 2 Likes 1 Share |

AsaBlackheart: this does not make sense they are earning in pounds and it makes no sense to convert to Naira because they are not spending in Naira in the uk The person receiving 10 pounds per hour in the UK is also struggling like the person receiving 30k per month in nigeria. |
