Stop comparing nonsense again. The Nigerian economy is in shambles already, let stop blame game, nothing other than restructuring. Simply true. |

The average Nigerian with Japa syndrome is clueless until they land on the ground and quickly figure out that the they not only have to work hard, but must work 2 jobs to make ends meet. Average rent is £2,500/Month. Minimum wage is £10 = £1400/Month pre tax, plus bills like gas, light, fuel food, taxes, fees and tax on your TV. Salary is not even enough to pay rent, this is why they work 2 jobs.. This food thing is a deception regardless of salary. They went to Aldi sef, why not go to the regular grocery stores and see what your 10 pounds get you. 2 Likes

LikeAking post=127287143 Where OP got it wrong is the comparison was what one hour minimum wage in the UK (£10) can buy .... not what £10 can buy. On product quality... do you really believe foods in the US are of better quality than in Nigeria? Bread... bread in Nigeria is general natural... flour ... yeast and water. Bread abroad ... flour ... bromide and water. Yeast bread is wayyy more than twice the price for beautiful soft when fresh bromide bread. Butter from palm oil ... do you really think you can afford such natural butter abroad? But here you are believing margarine is better. Do you know margarine is closer to grease than butter? Try leaving some margarine and some butter outside.... see which one ants/flies/mice/cats go to and which they stay clear of ... see which breaks down or gets mildew and which remains the same ... then think about grease... then which is really not at all good for human consumption. Foods in Nigeria are mainly organic... but you'll have to pay through the nose for same abroad. 1 Like |

Originalsly: This is why you shouldn't have compared in the first place salary or no salary. Monthly rent in the UK is around 2 million per month so salary in Nigeria or not, do you pay 2 million monthly for rent in Nigeria.? 1 Like |

psalmsjob: You must be high on some village junk drugs. 😆 🤣 Most of you go just dey one village in Nigeria talking crap. Minimum wage is the least amount you can pay a worker per hour job. For instance in my state, the minimum wage is $13.65. Mind you, no job pays this little, if not nobody will work that job. So one works 8 hours a day, that's $109.2 which is #125,580. A day. How many persons in Nigeria fit make at least #125k a day at any job? How many persons makes 10k naira a day at their job? Mind you, 10 dollars is nothing to most Americans People go get lunch for like $15 - $20. That's on a normal daily How many Nigerians fit spend 15 _20k every lunch? Daily Whoever tells you you are better in Nigeria is your greatest enemy. Trust .me Please it's madness to compare America to Nigeria in anything. Please 🙏 I beg you. Dont No be for Nigeria person dey snap pic for restaurant to show off the food wey him dey chop, even Celebrities? Person dey use champagne dey boast? Guy, you don't do those here, homeless drug addicts on the streets can afford those comfortably. 2 Likes |

Difrent: You're a bastard Why can't you march to the airports and stop us?? Which education did you subsidize, considering the per capita income in the country? Do you know how many property some families sold in order to afford the fees in those so-called subsidized schools? What's the minimum wage in Nigeria? What's the people's purchasing power? How many Nigerians are employed? What are the salaries of the employed ones? Who told you an average Nigerian family finds it easy to train her ward in Nigerian medical schools? Do you know how many foreign textbooks a medical student buys just for one level/class alone? Or does your government subsidize that too? I spent 32,000 to buy 2nd year medical books in 2003, and this was different from school fees, accommodation fees, departmental dues, faculty dues, lab fees, developmental fees, feeding money, etc, etc,! Do you know how much 32k was worth in 2003? What was the minimum wage then? Do you know how much property my parents sold to be able to raise that amount? So, where's the subsidy? If you're so angry, go to the university and study medicine and then spend the rest of your miserable life working for the government if you believe the training is subsidized. 2 Likes |

Total = N8,800 so your change is N1,200 that's if you exchange pound to naira at offical rate and buying at the most expensive stores or high brands. If you exchange at black market rate and buy at public market "days" you will collect as much as N6,000 after buying everything in that basket....that's about £6 left. LET'S JUST THANK GOD FOR WHAT WE HAVE AND STOP LOOKING AT AND GLORIFYING ANOTHER MAN'S LAND MORE THAN OUR OWN....OUR OWN NA OUR OWN O [/quote] It's not about the cost of things op. It's about the minimum wage. That's the hourly minimum wage in the UK. Based on Nigeria's minimum wage, we earn approximately 120 naira an hour which cannot even buy common agbado |

psalmsjob: You calculated based on exchange rate Why not based on an individual living in each country Eg. We dey use 40yuan chop semo and soup with chicken It's cheap here in terms of say we making it here, but how cheap is it for a Nigerian to eat same using naira... People in America making their money in dollars will tell you that 100dollars na change Now you in Nigeria will see it as big things, each differs cause if currency na same value, 100 dollar na 100 naira (will you see it as big thing) Don't say yours is cheaper or expensive, we don't have same economy Everyone dey run on their own terms 1 Like |

LikeAking: Very funny post. What is the difference btw bleached palm oil and the oil there? Cos you want to make sure you say everything here is inferior. What is the thing that the so called margarine there gives you that is not here. And do you know how chickens are grown? Many of you know nothing about food production and diet, you go just talk anyhow. I agree things are not normal here....the issue of things are cheaper here should not come into play cos such debate is not meaningful, so I wont go into that. What I want to address is this your rubbish post. The rubbish you put here just go support your point. Remove this and support your point with other issues...not this rubbish post. Stick with your initial post and stop there. This one is rubbish. |

According to that topic the person earn £10 per hour work to buy those items. How many people in Nigeria earn up to N5000 per day not to talk of N8000 per day. Most jobs now in Nigeria your per day earning can't buy those items |

psalmsjob: You're missing the main point in that £10-challenge. £10 is the MINIMUM-WAGE PER-HOUR IN THE UK.. Now that you have calculated N8,800,, that's very nice. Does it also mean that N8,800 is also the Nigerian’s Minimum-Wage PER HOUR?? |
