UK & US ARE OVER-RATED NIGERIA IS STILL BETTER in terms of cost of living see a practical example why doing a price comparison: 1 pound to 1 naira today is N1,001 so are you saying with £10 x N1,001 = N10,001 you cannot buy everything in that basket and collect change in Nigeria today?
1 Sliced Bread = N800 2 Spaghetti = N1400 1 Gesha = N600 1 live chicken = N3,000 1 75cl soya Oil = N1,400 1 Midium size Butter = N600 2 Gino Tomato paste = N1,000

You guys focus on the money earned but not on what the money earned can purchase....the purchasing power of the money. See another analysis for you to stop Lmao
If our bobo londoner works for the standard 8 hours per day and earning £10 per hour and he works for 5 days a week; he would have earned = £10 x 8 hours = £80/ day x 5 days/week = £400/week x 4 weeks = £1,600 per month. With this earning bobo londoner is taking nothing home at month end and cannot afford to buy that kind of £10 food every day if he does he might be in debt see why:
Now for bobo pays average of £1,480 for house rent monthly and pays average of £140 for transportation to work. That's £1,480 + £140 = £1,600 per month ONLY. If bobo londoner tries to buy his £10 food everyday as man must wak that's £10 x 30 days = £300 per month.
Therefore, bobo londoner must werk on Saturdays to survive that's £80 x 6 days × 4 weeks = £1,920 - £1,480 - £140 - £300 = £0.00 per month
So Bobo Londoner must werk on Sundays to have £80 at every month end
Workers in Nigeria do not work on Saturdays and Sundays before you start your comparison again Now I can confirm that you are not only dmb but foooolish. I don't usually lash out this way especially when anyone expresses an opinion but when you refuse to take corrections then it is OK to call you out. First off, anyone making £1600 in the UK will still have about 400 savings and I did the break down in my previous posts on another thread. Now know that most people make far more than that cos minimum wage is even above the 10 pounds you quoted. Please get sense. 1 Like |

From all indications this writeup will not work for most salary earners. If you calculate that perday them you should be earning around #300k per month. How many people are earning that In a month .
Pls go ahead and divide what you earn monthly with 30days and see how worthless those calculations are and moreso, you cost of rent, transport etc |

Coz I don't know anyone who earns that amount monthly ... except secondary school cert holder maybe
Coz even level entry salary of most Govt agencies na from 150-180k UpTo 300k (NNPC) I personally dont know anyone who earn 30k per month. earning 10 pounds per hour in the Uk means you are in the bottom of the food chain and these type of jobs are for very young people or people without the necessary qualification to get an annual salary. also anyone earning 30k per month is also in the botton of the food chain in Nigeria |

Funny when people say this 30k thing in Nigeria...
I don't have anyone in my circle earning just 30k monthly...even in most Government agencies ... entry-level salary na 150-180k First of all, you sound like one coming from a background of privileges. So your circle will be a circle of people with the same background. Step out of your circle and do your findings. Secondly, you don't have to lie to support your point. 150k -180k as entry-level I have people in Federal Govt jobs, who have worked for over 10 years, and barely make between 120 - 150k as salary. Then I recommend you research (as in, actually make calls or ask people people outside your circle) on how much is earned monthly by the majority of state govt workers outside Lagos and FCT, or even professionals like lawyers and accountants and then semi-skilled workers like factory workers and hotel staff Even in Lagos 50-70k is still a cap for many semi-skilled workers 1 Like |

Employers here in Nigeria do not pay per hour, also in the UK they do not give you cash per hours, per hour is just a rate for your time work so as to calculate your monthly income. Most of the time, in these type of jobs, the average hourly pay has to be at least the National Minimum Wage.
just because an employer is willing to pay you 10 pounds per hour does not mean when you are given your monthly paycheck, it will be enough to cover your living cost that is because 10 pounds is the minimum wage for time work.
the same person earning 10 pounds per hours which is minimum wage in the UK his counterpart in Nigeria which is 30k per month cant enjoy the good things of life. both of these individuals are struggling in the different countries they live in. The hourly rate is derived from minimum wage.. Simple logic. UK pays £10.42 as minimum hourly rate with means the average monthly wage is 8 hours x 10.42 x 5 days x 4 weeks = About £1600 Nigeria minimum wage is 30k(funny enough some states still pay less) So do the mathematics |

In London which houses are more readily available (vacant) those of £700 or £1,480 How far off to city center are the vacant houses of £700??
A house of £700 a month in Nigeria will sound stupid to a worker earning #30,000 per month but pays his own house rent on yearly basis not monthly that the Bobo Londoner has to pay N700,000 per month out of his basic £1,600 per month which is about 44% of the salary whereas a similar house of a 2-room self con in same type of location in Nigeria will cost about 34% of N30,000 over a 12-month period.
We have not factored transportation into the salary yet oh...
Those workers in Nigeria that work on Saturdays earn more than the minimum wage for doing just that working overtime but Bobo Londoner will still get only his £10 for those self-imposed or sapa-imposed weekend and overtime works
Why will a £10 an hour worker in London buy a cartoon of chicken can he afford it? I ask you bobo londoner friend
Let's be objective about our country we are indeed lucky to be here break yourself from the yoke of abroad is better....Nigeria is more affordable to live in than UK....I talk ham again with facts You are just arguing like a lame man in the bush, you need to understand to each currency its own economy cos onces a Nigerian here Euro or dollar they rush to punch calculator and start using the Naira value to hallucinate, it doesnt work like that. In europe £700 is below the minimum wage (monthly) and it can get you an accomodation in europe bUt In Nigeria 30k minimum wage if accumulated in a year (120k) can't get a self contain anywhere today. You are just arguing blindly, in Nigeria workers are paid monthly not hourly/days .. however just very few multi national companies pay for overtime in Nigeria. A carton of chicken cost 35k in Nigeria which is convertibly less than £30. i.e with a 3hr work in europe he can buy a carton but thats even too much for a person living alone. Lets me sensitize your ignorant ass again, stop using our valueless Naira to juxatpose gibberish, Under europe ecomomic, the lowest worker will easily make £700 in less than 10days that can sort a studio apartment comfortably and have grace to "Save" the most fascinating part is you have the super privilege to augument your income esp when you have a budget/benchmark, just simply put in for more hours or work extra job shift In Nigeria economy "Savings" have being alienated, someone earning 30k can't have a savings that can pay any house rent in these present Nigeria. yesterday it cost me over 2k to eat bread, egg, sausage and tea minus dinner, imagine common bread Better keep quiet 1 Like |
