In the spirit of sharing. I applied via both the DHA and VFS visa portal last Thursday.

My VFS application has been acted on and visa issued today- find below. I guess the VFS e-visa route is more expensive for a reason- they have more staff paying attention to it.

Bit of details and context: I am going for a work conference and a frequent flier. My 1-year SA visit visa (sticker) expired 2 weeks ago, but an urgent work retreat came up. Other visas on the passport with multiple years- UK, US, Schengen.

Beyond the above context, if you have valid reasons and all your documents are correct, i think it works well. They sent an email to my colleague in SA to confirm my invitation letter, and then I got the e-visa 4 hours later.

Well, I also applied for the normal VFS sticker visa on Friday and will wait for that to come through after this trip so that I can hopefully have another long-term, multiple entry visa.

Please which of the e-visa application portal would you say gives the fastest feedback in your experience. Is it the VFS evisa platform or the DHA?

For the evisa is it complusory to have a return ticket? And if you don't have a return ticket which airline can you book a dummy trip to be able to get booking no?

Because in the evisa there is space to put the return ticket detials

Please will I apply for a renewal of the expired visa or I will apply for a fresh/new study visa? I will be making the application here in Nigeria, not in South Africa

Is there a reason why such cases like this should be treated from Nigeria? Why not South Africa.

Is it not possible to fix this from South Africa, because visa timings in Nigeria is delayed, unless you know consular sha. Lol
For visa renewal or passport. Fix passport issues first, then visa.

All documents relating to your admission, put in a file incase you are asked. Confirm from the airline if one way is allowed for your type of visa.

It is detailed. I am traveling from Melbourne to johannesburg on the 22nd. Then from Johannesburg to lagos on the 24th. Coming back to Johanessburg on the 7th of January, leaving 10th of January to Melbourne.
I submitted this flight itinerary and they are yet to pick my file. All these flight are booked. Why the delay?

You understand that a multiple entry visa is what you need. So if you are granted single entry visa to Sa, you need another to re enter when you are coming back.

Just plan yourself because you are carrying a Nigerian passport.

It is required that you apply for renewal of your study permit before it expires, according to SA immigration laws.
I hope you understand the system well before you allowed yourself to be in this situation!!!

Their is no discrepancy, it is just the timing. 87 dollars, 23 dollars? It is normal they attend to 87usd faster.
