This is what Tinubu tried to do with a woman's papers but he was making so much money from drugs that he didn't conclude his academic journey and so has no certificate to show.

If only he has taken his o level maths and English when Chicago asked him too and none of this certificate saga would have made the light of day.

Too bad

This is what Pit Obi should have done when he was around similar age instead of finding difficult times or problems with any new policies tilumbuubu took for the development of the country..

Why not take an online program? There are lots of verified online universities that can give you a high-quality law education. They may be free of physical lectures but make no mistake, they are equally intensive and thorough.

to study law
ive always wanted to do this but felt i would be too old
as of last year, ive seen a lot of older people graduating or in law school
rotimi amaechi is an example

which private university can i go to, and still live off campus with my family
i am in rivers state
i am excluding RSU and Uniport,
i would want to carry out this endeavour without delay from ASUU strikes

any suggestions?

Since you're in PH you can try Godfrey Okoye university, Enugu state else you should think of the west.

Or open university, since they're now allowed to go to law school 🙄

You can do it. Do not allow anyone to discourage from achieving your dreams. You are not the first and you won't be the last. There's no time specified for people to stop going to school. The quest for education is unending.

There are University Linkage Programmes you can apply for and get your desired degree. All you need is determination, persistence and focus.

Depending on your financial status and capacity; you can study law in some UK universities, through online/part-time studies e.g. University of London, University of Liverpool etc.
You can also find out schools in Nigeria that offer such programmes, although I think NUC was trying to stop part-time law programmes in Nigerian universities.
If you live or work in a university town/city, it may be much easier

Go to Gregory University in Uturu, Abia State. Their fees is 1.8M for law annually. They're very good

I know someone who went back to school to study medicine at age 42( He studied chemistry and has a masters degree in industrial chemistry). He is now a medical doctor. He's been a doctor since 2019.

okay, thanks.
I see it's a Christian school.
as I said earlier, I hope it's a place I can go to school while living off campus.
I am also browsing about them now

Due to your age off-campus might be easy for you to access but if you stay on campus be ready to follow all the rules and regulations which might be too hard for you to cope with. Babcock is not just a Christian school it's an Adventist Christian school.

At 46 years you will be a lawyer. At 46 years you have nothing if you don't start now . The next 6 years will still come anyway. Choose one.

opicgif,

Here are some Private Universities you can study Law in Nigeria:

1. Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti - I've heard some good reports from acquaintances & third parties about their Law Degree.

2. Baze University, Abuja - Well, some report had it few days ago, that they run unapproved Law program.

3. American University of Nigeria, Yola,, Adamawa State

4. Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State

5. Benson Idahosa University, Benin, Edo State

6. Lead City University, Ibadan, Oyo State

7. Etc...

NOTE 1: There are many others. So, you can personal research on this to know which will suit you, putting the following into consideration:

— tuition fee;
— cost of living in the state and/or town;
— security;
— recognition of your prospective alma mater in the job market
— how easy will it be to relocate from Rivers State to your preferred State/Town of study;
— etc...

NOTE 2: This is just my suggestion. You can consider other reasonable suggestions & draw up your conclusion.

Don't let anyone discourage you in your quest for more knowledge and in doing what you've always loved.

Good luck. wink
Nicely said, but you are very wrong on this "recognition of your prospective alma mater in the job market".

One man's food, another's poison. I don't envy you at all. My own dream is to read Maths in a Higher Institution after Mathematics almost scared me out of secondary school. Even though I read English Language and Literature, I have demystified Mathematics. Today, I even teach Maths in different homes for a living.

Ex-Babcock here. The Law campus is on a different property than the main campus. At 40 and with a family, I'm almost certain they'd let you live "off-k". It's located in a village though so have a plan for how your wife would work and what school your kids would attend. BU (as we call it) has a secondary school called BU High School (BUHS) which is a good school if you ask me.

42 for medicine! That's a really long shot though. Medicine require almost 12 years to specialize. By 54, he'd be due for retirement in 6 years. I guess you have to do what you have to do. I've toyed with going back to school to study medicine specializing in General Surgery. I never motivated myself enough to get it started. This was 9 years ago. Of I had, I probably would have been nearing the end of specialization by now.

This actually depends on what you want to do with the law cert. If it's about practicing, then it looks too late to make sense of that profession by the time you are called to the bar.

Don't compare the situation with Amaechi, please. There's absolutely nothing he wants to do with the degree. Most likely, he only wanted to juggle his brain. Like I said earlier, it all depends on what you want to do with the cert. So, you may want to go Amaechi way.

Frankly, I won't support you to do this now. It's gonna be a pure money waste. Instead go for something advanced in your career or go for IT. Don't go wasting your time studying something that even right now has no meaning in the country.

Brother I understand you perfectly
I will advise you use private universities where the admission is easy, if the finance is there.
But I can also assure you that with the current academic policies on ground ASUU strike will not occur even in the next 15 years, federal and state universities tuition fees are affordable, but the chances of getting admission is very tight.

Like in the University of Port Harcourt if you score at least 290 in ur jamb and least 250 in ur post UTME, admission is very possible
