In addition, If you are asked who is sponsoring your deficit, the answer is I am using personal funds, and the amount is available in your bank account. Whatever questions that will follow after this response have put you in a positive position. 1 Like |

Your response here shows you don't have work experience in your proposed course of study, and your previous degree is also not in Computer Science, so that's 2-0. You need to own your narratives about why you chose Computer Science, not my company selected me to go on study due to so so so, own your story and stick to it. working in a company that majors in tech (you could be an HR or Secretary) does not cut it. horlakay: |

TWoods:I am currently working and assaying an array of medicinal plants in the PharmaCognosy laboratory at my school. The department of PharmaCognosy and natural medicine at faculty of pharmacy in University of Uyo is where I currently work as an Intern and assistant to Professor Saviour. It’s just natural to seek a masters in soil and plant science to permanent my work as a junior researcher in medicinal plants. Pharmacy undergraduate major transition to soil and plant science graduate major is not a common succession, but is not odd/awkward sir. |

Don't mind him. Just convincingly explain to the VO how pharmacognosy relates to crop science, the problem your research will solve and postgrad plans. It's funny how people think first degree subject is restrictive. I've seen one who studied Animal science in undergrad pursue grad studies in biomedical sciences, specialising in genetics and stuff along that line. Just be confident, you'll conquer. @ Ebubu 1 Like |

I did my interview on the 16 November and it was approved, I haven't gotten my visa yet. CGI page is blank with Documents Delivery Information. I tried calling, I was told to wait for the email and it's been 19 days already. Any advice on what to do ?? N.B my status tracking is showing Approved |

Ebubu: The truth is simple, it doesn't need to much grammar. Clarify your reason for your choice in course clearly in simple terms. You done it here for us .you even mentioned you're already interning in that field. Your funding and getting a date is what you need to get correct. We're rooting for you. Be confident and it will go well. 1 Like |

horlakay:Apologies I was typing with my phone. You're working post graduate you said your Dad was covering 41m whilst you'd cover 6m, You're at least 5years plus post graduation right? So yes I think your Dad paying majority of your fees doesn't look good. Majority of US citizens parents would and can't pay for their kids tuition so the students take loans in their own name or look for scholarships or work and go to school. These are for tuition fees that are less than fees charged to Intl fees. So bare that in mind. If you were going for undergrad and parents were paying most of it or you recently graduated and parents were paying that's different. For you it would be better if you can cover majority of the fees either with you own money or through GA RA or scholarship then your parents adding to a small deficit would be better. That's why said find reasonable tuition fees (within what you can cover majority of the costs) As an F1 student you are only permitted to work on campus for limited hours. That money can't cover anything serious it's like pocket money. This advice is for both visa approval and actually getting in the US. 2 Likes |

horlakay: Hey ! You are the one stressing yourself UNECESSARILY . MUST YOU PUT ALL YOUR HOPE IN THE ADVICE OF JUST ONE PERSON ON NAIRALAND ? What is bad in using your father as your sponsor ? You said everyone the VO denied used their father as sponsor and you are assuming that the VO is tired of hearing that ...Okay if you don't have any other sponsor aside your dad ..WILL YOU COME AND USE MY DAD OR STOP APPLYING FOR VISA BECAUSE OF THAT ? HERE IS WHAT I THINK CAUSED YOUR DENIAL ========== PS: If you like secure 1000% scholarship VO will still deny you if you don't prepare and aline your career path well. So don't advice people to try and secure full scholarship because not every student can do that. 1. You were too eager to tell your story to the CO (consular officer ) by interrupting him or her . That might be the ONLY REASON he or she denied you because they very few times use their personal emotion to decide your fate . YOU DONT INTERRUPT THE VOs. 2. You have only worked for 2 years in your place of work and you re going abroad for MSc and coming back to take what position ? 2 YEARS IS TOO SMALL FOR A REPUTABLE COMPANY TO OBSERVED YOUR SKILL AND DECIDE TO SEND YOU ABROAD AS A WOULD BE MANAGER . 3. You Majored in mettarlurgica and material engineering...WHY ARE YOU GOING FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE ? Does it relate to the position of job you will take upon your arrival ? 4. You said VO was just typing and not looking at you and you felt your time is up ( LOST HOPE ALREADY) . No ! She was relating what you are saying with your DS 160 story . Therefore , DID YOU FILL THE DS 160 YOURSELF ? Go and reapply and do all needful. She did not deny you because you did not have full funding or because you used your dad as sponsor. She denied you because of other reasons coupled with your NEGATIVE Mien . There is God..don't give up. 2 Likes |

Abdgafarplenty: Hey ! I don't understand your question. Your visa was approved were you not given the success (white paper ) at the embassy ? Common use the paper and go to the DHL center you indicated and pick up your visa . Or did you pay for home delivery ? Go to DHL office and confirm ...you may turn your CGI profile page to television and keep watching distrupted network till next year . GO TO DHL OFFICE AND PICK UP YOUR VISA !! There is God..don't give up. 1 Like |

horlakay:No preconceived notion. You didnt give good account of yourself, educational and work experiences and gap. You finished school in 2015 in Met Engr and now working in IT and you have been at your current job for 2yrs… and now want to pursue an MS program in Computer/IT related field? 2015-2023=8yrs … and you only accounted for 2years our of 8?? Y’all need to SWOT-analyze your answers b4 going in front of VO. If your company is going to offer you back your position when you finish your MS… why is that company not picking up the tab for some of your COA and travel expenses? |

You may have to exercise patience and wait as you were told (even though it is taking longer time than necessary). Maybe they are still processing you visa or making some verifications. Keep tracking your status online to note when it changes from approved to issued (which is likely the time you would be contacted for a pickup of your passport). Abdgafarplenty: |

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by NewBoyKhashoggi(m): 3:17pm On Dec 07, 2023 |
bammydele1: Hey ! If you are a first timer , i mean you just bought your MRV then you will have the option s to book an appointment, options to reschedule, and the emergency Appointment option. If you are applying for the first time and you did not see the option to reschedule or the emergency Appointment option then that means that the embassy has not given you any Appointment at all which i think is what is happening to you ? If you have chosen Lagos you may cancel it and pick Abuja if you re in a haste .....I am sure you will see more dates in Abuja than Lagos . If you had been denied before within the space of 6 months then you just have to wait till the appropriate time the embassy will allocate you a date . Be specific in your own situation . Best wishes 🙏 1 Like |

Arajoe: Hey 🤠 Yes it is possible to have a pending B1/B2 visa appointment and at the same time schedule an F1 student visa appointment. All you have to do is to buy another MRV but you are going to stick to one DS 160. No ! You cannot change an already booked B1/B2 Appointment to an F1 student visa appointment. ADVICE ======= Why not stick to one route ? This will look like a desperation to land in America by all avenues to the CO (Consular Officer). But the best route to easily get Appointment access is the F1 student visa route . Best wishes 🙏 2 Likes |
