Sponsorship is also not the only pathway to settlement in the UK.

For example, in the UK you can apply for leave to remain on the basis of having a British child- as soon as the child is born, unlike the US where the parent of an American citizen has to wait till the child grows up and is able to file for them.

So there are swings and roundabouts both ways.

It is a 10 year route though, so it's mainly used if the non citizen parent is not able to qualify for another type of residence permit.

Also if a child is born in the UK to non citizen or settled parents, and lives here until they are 10 years old, then the child can register as a British citizen, and his parents can apply for leave to remain as the parents of a British child. Once again it's a 10 yr route to settlement.

I am very confused and I believe I am being discriminated against.

Yesterday I got an email which I attach, I responded saying I have no plans to leave my apartment and this hasn’t been discussed with me. Today I got another email saying I have to leave on the 30.02.24 and I am confused because this is not a valid reason to terminate my tenancy. I have also not breached any grounds under section 8. These people have been very dismissive and have not reached out to speak to me.

A section 8 is an at fault eviction so you are deemed to have broken a, some or all the terms and conditions of your rental agreement. Did they state which ones? If yes, then it is a valid notice. You are not being discriminated against. It is one of the proper ways of evicting a tenant.

Your main issues were 1. Not contacting the agents immediately issues started arising and 2. Not documenting anything at all. Certainly the 2 visits to the agents office should have been preceded by an email detailing the circumstances in the house. It is now a he said/ she said and the agents/ landlords likely don't want to deal with that which is fair.

Be that as it may, it is in your best interests to find somewhere else and leave unless you want them to go through the full eviction process ie court and I bet they will have their costs charged back to you.

You can seek legal advice but be prepared to spend money. Do you want to go through that hassle? You'll need to prove that the notice was wrongly issued and even if you win, they'll probably hit you with a S21 which is a no fault notice ie they don't need to give you any reason at all apart from I want my house/ room back and that is also 2 months notice

If I were you, I would negotiate for a longer notice period and get them to agree that they give you a good reference so you can find somewhere else. In fact, get them to pre-write, sign and give you the reference so they don't back track later. Obviously if you don't need a reference then that's a moot point.

It’s true but if the organisation can pay 27,090k so those on student visa or post study can have a chance but the question remain how many companies can and how many folks will get the opportunity. Another challenge is many employers are usually not aware especially when immigration rules change so rapidly.

First of all, you have the wrong person so maybe check the name again.

Secondly, Tiamiyu and my statement are completely two different things. I am asking the OP if by “cast the update”, he wants useful information to be shrouded in secrecy from his fellow countrymen.

Thirdly, people’s grouse against the Tiamiyu guy even makes me laugh, (granted that the Tiamiyu guy absolutely goofed), some people always make it sound like he’s the sole reason why the UK is suddenly clamping down on previous immigration routes.

What other ways are there to pass vital information, pray tell? I mean, that’s what social media platforms are for, I believe. Someone here posted about CV library and that immensely changed everything for me with my job search. That person chose to use text format to pass that info here on Nairaland.

Another person could have chosen to set up ring light and open YouTube channel to pass same info, and there’ll be absolutely nothing wrong with it.

So I ask, is it the method of passing the information you don’t like, or that you don’t want too many people knowing about a useful information that’ll help them? 🤔

Also, what is wrong with a travel agent or a student advising people about how to apply for jobs?

yes that's true, research the policy and whichever angle that qualifies you or satisfies the requirements, latch on it, politely request their review of the decision. afterall, nothing to lose

By mentioning section kinikan, you wan dey scatter HR head be that lol 🤪. They usually don't want to deal with wetin them no understand. They know the overview of the rules but not the indepth part of the Skilled worker guidelines. Some will involve their immigration lawyers if “we’ll get back to you” 🤞 is involved while it's just easier to say no to save them cost and time. Either way, we move 🙂
