Good day everyone,

I have submitted my application (personal details) for Public health at western lllinois university. So I received an email that I am to pay $50 for application fee and also official transcript is needed which is 100k in two places . Currently I am down because to even source for official transcript money from two different schools is crazy in this economy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can I submit unofficial transcript(student’s copy) to the school ,pending the time I would be offered admission? because I am confused, or what can I do please??

Imagine me filling different schools and they keep asking for official transcript,how will I cope and initially some schools will say you can submit student’s copy,at the end of the day you would be seeing official transcript is required 😭

I hope someone can genuinely help me out in this situation !!!!

Hey 🤠

If you are hell-bent in applying to those schools then you do not have any choice than to follow their International students admission policy by asking your Alma mata to send your official transcripts.

There are few schools that will accept your unofficial transcripts and even waive the $50 Application fee .

Use GOOGLE to search for more schools and email their International Admissions office . Even you can still email your present school and negotiate your worry with them .

Your search is not enough . Search for more schools that will BEND THEIR POLICIES.

Yes, she can use your acc as hers since it would be considered family funds.

NB: If you’re going to be a dependent in the US, you will not be allowed to work unlike in the UK.

Type Public Research Universities in the US. Pick the schools one by one then email their International Admissions office after clicking CONTACT US of each school .

By the time you email like 30 schools , you will get your answer.

You didnt give good account of yourself, educational and work experiences and gap.
You finished school in 2015 in Met Engr and now working in IT and you have been at your current job for 2yrs… and now want to pursue an MS program in Computer/IT related field?
2015-2023=8yrs … and you only accounted for 2years our of 8??

Y’all need to SWOT-analyze your answers b4 going in front of VO. If your company is going to offer you back your position when you finish your MS… why is that company not picking up the tab for some of your COA and travel expenses?

I can not answer questions that wasn't asked, should I start explaining educational gap, when I wasn't asked?..... like I said she was reading my profile to me, and only asked few questions

I understand your plight as December is galloping away 😊

You don't have to wait any longer . It is high time you applied for an emergency Appointment which i think should be approved to you.

But if you don't mind traveling to Abuja , i will recommend you cancel Lagos , opt for Abuja, pick any date ...before Xmas you should be able to use your reschedule option to get appropriate date ...as a last resort , you will use your emergency option .

Keep your SEVIS receipt and I 20 handy .

This is not the appropriate section for you to ask this questions but we are ALL NIGERIANS.


1. PhD applicants usually have more fundings or at least most fundings , and they also have the edge of job opportunities in academia .... therefore the CO (Consular Officer) do not really attach importance to their bank statement. Give her any funds you want to use in supporting her and let her use HER OWN BANK STATEMENT as self sponsored. US VOs are very WISE ..they might think that you used her to enter UK as dependent and now you ...

2. GRE is widely acceptable for PhD but many schools can waive this , if she is going for PhD in business related GMAT would be better .

3. Let her write GRE but if she is doing PhD in Business or account related or management let her write GMAT. Either easy or hard , if she has the time let her write it , she has studied up to an MSc level so why would GRE or GMAT be shaking her 😊. Many schools will waive it though .

4. NOTE : You can start your PhD process from anywhere in the world . It's not compulsory for anyone in the UK to do it for you. GO TO UK Student section on Nairaland.

Looks like there's so much backlog or demand exceeding supply, that they have to individually approve appointment requests.

It's really frustrating.

I guess we'll just have to wait.

You’re still not getting it… She saw those gaps in your DS160
Thre are gaps in your stories-they are not aligned. You still need to close gaps in your cv, job, story, job transition, COA, sponsor.

I made a mistake while inputting my date of birth for Western lllinois university ,and I have submitted the form already 1996 I mistakenly picked 1966 .

Proceed with the payment of your application fee . After payment, they will give you payment confirmation, as well as the admission submition acknowledgment. Print both documents out together with the bio data page of your International Passport and attach it to the email you will be sending to the international Admissions office of the school OR Your admission counselor (if you have been assigned one ) telling them to kindly use the date of birth in the bio data page .

Even , without you notifying them , they knows it's an error because your other credentials like waec etc and the bio data carries your exact DOB.... Therefore they follows ESPECIALLY YOUR PASSPORT BIO DATA INFO when issuing your Form I 20 .

Someone helped me pay for the SEVIS from a pay point in the US since Dec 2. and sent the coupon and slip through USPS to Sevis office, up till now, the package has not arrived its destination.

My fear now is that this may take further time to process and I cannot even apply for EA without a sevis receipt. Please who has an idea of the average processing time before I receive the sevis receipt.

Hey 🤠

I want to think that the payer bought a US drawn check or coupon worth of $350 and send it via ORDINARY MAIL (USPS) to SEVIS office . He should have even used EXPRESS DELIVERY .

In the future , try to persuade the payer to use WESTERN UNION ONLY because western union payment is almost instantaneous .

Your SEVIS payment coupon should deliver next week Tuesday (just guessing ) and it can even take SEVIS another 2 to 3 days to input your payment in their record .

Call or email SEVIS by next week Thursday , they will tell you if your record has been filed . Did the payer not snap anything like payment slip or the coupon to you before he or she dispatch it ?
