oyaskii:I actually believe this is my most active movie year this decade. It's just that my focus on all media fronts, except anime series, was on my backlog. A current movie would've to appeal to me over that to get moved to the front. |

oyaskii:Killers of the Flower Moon will be devoured today, and I'm very much interested in seeing American Fiction and Poor Things. I just hope they are not among the three getting VOD release next year |
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by abduleez1(m): 6:03pm On Dec 08, 2023 |
oyaskii: MAESTRO comes out on netflix this December. POOR THINGS might release this December too. Who knows. American Fiction seems truly geared for next year. Modified: Just saw Poor Things just releasing theatrically in the US this Friday. That means VOD release is all but next year. |

"Killers of the Flower Moon" (2023). mundane, gruelling, 3hrs slow burn with a nice payoff! Martin Scorsese's big screen feature about the Osage county murders seeing him combine his already well know crime drama skills with Romance somewhat to tell in intricate details of the harrowing crimes by the "white men" looking to profit off the oil money by pretending to be friends with the Osage nation. It might not be for everyone as it is brutally slow and the ridiculous run time of 3hrs + didn't help but the slow pace is deliberate and they needed all the time to piece together this incredibly intricate story and the pay off is worth it, but i personally fear for the replay value, i don't i can sit through another watch again. The 3 leads were fantastic, LDC for best actor norm wouldn't bring no frown but Lily Gladstone! oh my God, she acted her socks off!. She kept a very bleak persona that added serene gloom to the narrative, hall of fame acting!. Oppie slightly edges it in my opinion, but it is a top shelf motion picture. 7/10. 1 Like 1 Share

Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by oyaskii(m): 8:58pm On Dec 08, 2023 |
Nickshrapnel:Although Andor came after Rogue one, chronologically, you were supposed to see Andor first before seeing it, and the 2 directly tie to each other, Andor is like a prequel to Rogue One. But for the entire Star Wars Universe chronologically....the pic below might help.

I'm watching star wars. My favorite movie is Star Wars The Force Awakens. It was the greatest part of star wars for me because of Harrison Ford. I liked his acting and character very much. Moreover, I was amazed by the neopixel RGB lightsabers used by the characters. This is what makes this movie more exciting and phenomenal. |

Watchmen (2009)....8/10 A bit conflicted about the ending of this one. Adrian's plan to unite the world against a common enemy (Dr. Manhattan) worked but I personally have issues with this plan whenever it's used in media. In this movie it's clearly established that something had to be done soon because humanity was very soon going to destroy itself with nuclear weapons. So you could say Adrian made a strict but logical plan. Very similar to the Code Geass ending. However the issue with these endings are that these people do not properly address the nature of humanity. This movie does not highlight the fact that this "peace" is merely temporary and short just like all the previous "peace" born through bloodshed that has occurred throughout humanity's history. While I understand the need to take action to save humanity...these millions of lives that were sacrificed matter. The story did not properly address how these lives mattered. They were just numbers... statistics, all just to create a peace that was fleeting at best.... In a few years, humans will fall back to default and wars will return...so was it worth the lives of these millions of people sacrificed? Adrian being called the smartest man in the world should have had a better and more detailed answer to that... He should have known that his actions were only fleeting... It is man's nature to war and have conflict and the death of these millions only postpone the inevitable... So what would Adrian do the next time this war is on the horizon again? Would he kill another tens of millions to unite humanity once more?, Watchmen did not answer this...Code Geass did not answer this... They both ended on a "and peace reigned happily ever after because the story told you so" Although Watchmen did hint at Rorschach's diary being found and the truth of Adrian's plan being revealed.
