Godx: Things are getting worse all over most of Africa Someone shared the depreciation of Angolan currency and they didn't vote Tinubu. There is inflation all over the world currently companies closing, massive layoffs going on even where I live and 3rd world countries will be affected more According to data from Layoffs.fyi, a site tracking layoffs since the start of the pandemic, tech companies slashed more than 253,000 jobs in 2023 alone — compared to during the pandemic, when they cut 80,000 in March to December 2020 and 15,000 in 2021. |

Amigoss:Well it depends on different individuals and grace attached to a person. 20m to me is still a tangible sum to invest in and grow to be a king in this shithole despite the rising inflation, security challenges and bad policies bro. One can think of several businesses 20m can recoup good sums for in the future. You can even travel out at will for visiting. As much as the hardship of the country is pushing almost everybody to their limits not everyone would have a nice landing over there with time. Some would even be deported. |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by WhoDeyHause: 3:35pm On Dec 08, 2023 |
BlueRayDick:Well stuff like cement distribution, supplying building materials, food either raw or fast food, transportation, buying bet shops, buying few lands to build on to rent out or lease or just for it to rise in value to sell off in future. The exchange rate has weakened how far that money can go alright but I think it's still okay as at this moment to begin something tangible. 1 Like |

Melvyn11:I agree with you but you know how ladies can be attracted to money and fame all over the world. You will see 16 or 17 year old kids with their girlfriends who some look older celebrating with them during nba or any of their other sports draft picks. Zion Williamson entered into trouble with a thirty something slay mama when he was just brushing his early twenties. If you tell me someone like Bellingham is dating one older lady I'll believe you, cause the fame and money alone is enough to make a lot of women decide to turn to his baby sitters. |

WhoDeyHause: 1. Cement distribution requires u buy at least one Howo Sino truck that doesn't cost less than N35m before the removal of subsidy and floating of naira. U will be compelled to insure the truck by Dangote and insurance will not charge u less than 5% of the value of the truck. If u add N35m to N1.750m that's already N36.750m. Remember u have N20m. 2. Fast food: U will require a space u will pay at least one year rent, renovate the place, equip with modern kitchen wares, ovens, heat extractor, chillers, ice cream machine etc. U will pay tenement rates to the local government, u will pay corporate tax to state government and u will pay for permits to operate ur business without government agencies coming to disturb u frequently. If u are in Lagos, u will also pay for the front of ur premises where customers will be parking. Remember u have 20m to do all these and still pay ur staff salary while u are yet to breakeven in the early days of ur operation. 3. Transportation: Motor parts are very expensive now; If ur vehicle develops major fault it will swallow some of ur money. If u are unfortunate to deal with wicked drivers like Raumdeuter shared his experience that day ; u may even borrow money to clear ur debt after selling the vehicle at a knocked down price when driver show u shege 4. Buying Land: U can buy land worth N20m today and sell it N60m in 4 years yet the N60m would not carry same purchasing power ur N20m today does. Why ? Because of devaluation of naira . I always laugh when those selling land like Adron Homes go on TV or radio shouting that people buy land and keep using that same line. 5. Buying Bet shops: I think Bet shops were profitable around 2012-2017 when online betting was not really a thing. Nowadays almost everybody has bet app on their phones thereby bypassing bet shop owners. Only few unlettered people, artisans or egbon adugbo still go to bet shops. I mean the same set of people u will see in baba Ijebu shops. U might end up selling ur computers cheap due to lack of patronage if u invest money in bet shops in this present day. Except u site it in a major market place or commercial area 5 Likes |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by WhoDeyHause: 4:15pm On Dec 08, 2023 |
Godx:I know bro but I also get the angle he's coming from. With the way inflation is rising everyday and the gradual devaluation of our currency dabbling into any investment without prior guidance or grace might just backfire especially in the most expensive parts of the country. I personally would use that amount of money to try and move abroad but some will still see it as money large enough to set up something worthwhile in this shithole. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 4:18pm On Dec 08, 2023 |
WhoDeyHause: If u don't do any of those stuff in Lagos, then be rest assured u will even make more loss than u envisiaged. Shey na less commercially viable places like Akure, Auchi, Gombe, Eboyin etc u wan go dey run fast food business ? In ur very eyes it will turn to "slow food " business . Abi shay na those aforementioned places u wan buy land keep ? U will still find ur land value barely appreciated after 10 years if u try it. Even the ecement distribution sef; it's places like Epe, Ibeju in Lagos, Ogun state where massive construction projects are going on u will be supplying. U can also supply to farther states but u will be mindful of the fact that the roads generally are bad, u will be more exposed to accident risk and ur driver can abscond with the vehicle and product even if u put a tracker on it. People wey tell u to use the N20m japa na people wey wan save u from future gnashing of teeth The inflation in this country no be small thing. If u stock up N20m , u need to be monitring the cost price while u are selling cos u may not even be able to stock up again when u exhaust ur existing stock in trade. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

BlueRayDick 1) Cement distribution doesn't mean you must own the truck. There are 3rd party companies that haul for a fee. 600 bags of Cement cost less than 4 million naira. Someone with 20 million can commit 2 million to learn the ropes, before fully investing. 2) Fast food have different categories. You can build a little koisk in a high traffic area, sell Shawarma and all those stuffs at night, and learn your ropes till you're able to expand 3) Transportation depends. You cannot buy a Tokuboh Hiace at 20 million; You can also buy 5 Keke Napep at 7 million and put all on Hire purchase. That's the safest bet for Transportation for me. 4) I no sabi Land 5) Woe betide BetKing and Bet9ja Summary: 20 million naira is very much okay to start and live comfortably here. Not saying it is big money converting to dollars, but it's more than enough capital to start many businesses 4 Likes |

Godx:I concur with this. The only problem is that even if you are making a decent money from whatver business you set up, steady decline of Naira renders the proceeds weightless. However, with 20m, one can set up a very profitable business. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 4:34pm On Dec 08, 2023 |
izzou: There's this saying that "To start chaos is easy" (I don't know the original aurthor) I'm not saying N20m will not start any business, If u check my initial post to Whodeyhause I quoted the part he said "invest N20m and "recoup good sums from in the future". Na that good sum/profit in the future I no agree with. So I will use it to address ur post. 1. The scenario I painted about the cement distribution is actually for someone who is a third party carrying products for Dangote. Those ones buy their truck and register under his franchise. Trust me, N20m will not set u up for that business ; I know quite a number of people in that line of business. Except u are referring to those who have shops/depot where would-be customers come around to buy and arrange for transportation by themselves. I don't even think that is really profitable like that. 2. If it's just shawarma , finger foods and barbecue u want to sell in shops, then u don't need N20m at all. 3. Yeah, hire purchase definitely works but u go get soldier, DPO/Area commander, OPC , Ogboni and Babalawo on speed dial to really keep ur debtors in line 5 Likes |
