As we speak, there's scarcity of naira in some states. Pre-election, we were told it was Emefiele; who do we blame for this one? The naira keeps depreciating hopelessly while basic commodities keep sliding away out of the reach of the average Nigerian. In all these, our leaders have asked that we endure the hardship, while promising that 'the hardship is a necessary step to Eldorado of the future'. Interestingly, while the common man is struggling severely to adjust to this government-inflicted hardship, the political class and their rulers have not only insisted on not giving up their lavish lifestyles but have also intensified their efforts in milking the scarce resources available dry. All is not well with Nigeria!
Imagine the hard currency being blown in Dubai by the humongous amount of Nigerian deligates. Even chagouri is on entourage and listed as Mr president's confidante. Someone known for years to have plundered this country.
Anyway, one day, Nigerians will have sense.

A lot of people here state that if we voted for their party....or if we support APC, the economy would improve.

At the end, Nigeria cannot become a better place unless we improve our tax to gdp ratio, deregulate the power and petroleum sector totally, and diversify our export portfolio and then become an exporter of manufactured goods and services.

APC supporters and PDP supporters, your parties are not doing that or have never done that at all. Na oil all you guys know.

We rely on one source of income. Meanwhile we advice ourselves never to rely on one source of income. How come we cannot do the same for our country.

Why do you always advocate for anti people policies & programs to close the tax-GDP ratio?

You seem to prefer that the masses suffer for the greed & incompetence of those in power.

Though I agree about improving our revenue base, with increasing the tax contribution to GDP as one of the ways, I believe the following is what the government should do first before implementing policies to 'kill' the masses;

1. Cut wastages at its level. A recent example is the COP28. Seyi, Chaogury? Nothing more to say about that.

2. Tackle corruption. The stealing is massive. Like really massive. What is stolen in nigeria in a year is more than the national budget.

3. Tackle insecurity. The government needs to be definitive, proactive, innovative & decisive in its approach to security challenges. Investors won't invest in reasonable numbers in a nation with wide spread security challenges. The already impoverished farmers can't even go to farms without being kidnapped by bandits, killed by terrorists or bombed by the military.

4. Last but not least, institute strong tax reforms that tie assets to income to tax payment. That is the actual missing link in improving the tax to gdp ratio.

Imagine someone with 100 mansions paying tax of less than 100k in a year. Someone who's source of income is not clear or known or whose official income cannot build a hut much less a house.

In my opinion, those are the first things the government needs to quickly address before thinking of increasing the burden on the masses.

Just a reminder Tinubu doesn't give a fvck about you or whatever you go through, he doesn't even need your vote or support in 2027 to get reelected...

What is the difference btw obi and tinubu here or the other destiny eaters?

Elections have consequences.
Democracy has an operating manual.

Nigerians should sit down for once to study how things work in other nations before gambling their lives away on failed systems and leaders.

A thousand kilometers or a thousand years on the wrong path will not make for a right destination or the journey successful.

APC supporters, it seems you guys are getting commodities at very cheap prices. Make una show us way.

A prophecy was released last year before Tinubu hijacked the seat of leadership saying Tinubu will sell this nation. There will be severe scarcity of cash. Prices of commodities will skyrocket under Tinubu. Hunger will be so bad that people will resort to cannibalism. However, the people of God will be spared this agony and suffering of Tinubu's leadership.

Stop telling lies to defend APC
Nigeria's tax to gdp has actually improved since APC took power and was at 10% in 2021 from less than 5% in 2015
Power and petroleum has been deregulated except you mean something else
And the economy is diversified as non- oil revenue has exceeded revenue for a good number of years
Find another lie. This one no sell
