I will repeat "again and again" that I do not see Obi as a gift. He is a noise maker. Obi has only compared data...period!

What should he have done? Yes, the starting point is the comparison of data to show there are problems, But beyond identifying the problems, what are the possible solutions?

Also, Obi has not for a single day tried to understand what this administration is doing, but blindly criticizing everything without suggesting any solution. I am not a fan of this administration, to be honest, and I still do not see it coming out successfully, though, I used to see Jagaban as a resourceful guy. But after the revelation of his dark side, I don't respect him anymore.

If I was Obi, I would criticise or praise the solutions they are presently trying out. But is Obi doing this? Nope. He is only showing us there are problems cos of some figures he has identified. Does this give me the assurance he can fix Nigeria? Absolutely not. I am even more scared he is only beating the drum very noisily like Gen Dullard Buhari who didn't know the solution but got people who gave him Jonathan's administration shortcomings.

Obi needs to do better.

Lastly...the single factor we need to take into consideration is the effect of the multi-ethnic groups that are blindly tribalistic on the nation. Does China have this? What could have been the effect on China if it was there? Hmmmmm! This factor we want to cover up. And I repeat that this is the main factor that has been feeding corruption. This tribalism factor is the single factor I have identified as the reason corruption cannot be defeated. And is there any nation presently in the world having the same issue as Nigeria? Please, if you know, kindly tell me ....and let us analyse the nation also.

If Nigeria must be progressive, we need to tackle tribalism so we can reduce corruption drastically. No policy can work amid corruption. So, let us get rid of the source of energy of corruption first. Any policy anyone is bringing won't work as long as we cannot arrest corruption. EFCC, ICPC, and many other solutions have failed. And the reason is that we have not yet addressed tribalism.

If you ask me, I think Nigeria cannot address tribalism because this issue is too deep. So, the one solution I have is splitting Nigeria. Nigeria seems to be a nation destined to fail. Please, if you have a solution apart from my idea, bring it on board.

Thank you!
Inasmuch as I don't see Obi as the messiah like some of his supporters do, I think he's doing the right thing as the opposition leader. Comparing statistics is a good way to understand the present situation so as to map out a functional plan to move forward.

Also, he has been very clearly vocal about his line of action if he were president. Consumption to production was basically his theme statement during the campaigns. Now you can't expect him to be specific as to his favoured lines of action because he is no privy to the information that is available to Mr president whose current policies are not showing any promise except we decide to be blindly optimistic of we just show reckless fanaticism.

I agree with you that tribalism is an issue but I don't think it's a major one. Corruption and lack of accountability are the banes of all our problems. Forget about the online noise. Many of us have friends, colleagues and business associates from diverse tribes and ethnicities and we're doing just fine. By the way, China has 56 recognised ethnic groups and it doesn't pose any problems to them. At least I've never heard of any.

I think that if we can find a leader that can put mechanisms in place to minimise corruption and ensure accountability we'll definitely step out of this doldrum.

Cheers.

You talk about the money but not talking about the business and investment benefits it'll bring to Nigeria in return.

Is like when insensible person lamenting on how much invested in business while ignoring the gains that money invested will brought back to its investment which may not be immediate but gradually the gains is guaranteed.

Which Business benefits, where is the ROI here? Signing an MOU is just signing a documents the main crux is what is the timeline for execution? We have seen dozens of MOUs signed over time and nothing came out of it. Abeg go and rest abeg.

Anyways we all know that Nairaland is the government properganda display board for average Nigerian.

The use other good topics to keep it alive but the main work is programming the minds of the average Nigerian into thinking the way they want them to think and from here those fake local ideas and induced idealogies go round the population.

We all know that no amount of stories from the opposition can unseat any government in Nigeria.

Inflation and low money has beaten Nigeria citizens into dust shocked

While your assertion about tribalism being the clog in the wheel of Nigeria's progress, it's imperative that you come to the realization that it didn't emanate from the individualistic or inter-ethnic apathy.

Our leaders, since time immemorial have fanned the flames of tribalism and are now feeding off the energy of it's embers.

A war strategy comes to mind: divide and conquer...or in this case...divide and subdue. As long as Nigerians remain at daggers drawn by reason of ethnicity or religion, these leaders will never get the comeuppance they deserve.

As for Mr Obi, he's not entirely wrong for not sharing his 2 cents on the elixir to our woes because when you think about it, if he did, would this current administration even bother to listen let alone attempt to administer it? I think not.

As much as i agree with much of your views/opinions, citing "Tribalism" as our major problem is a NiL for me @least according to the 2023 election, Tinubu is frm SW and he got more vote from North than Sw, asides from the East APC had votes from all sides.

[/b]The Major problem of these country is Poverty[/b], which is a deliberate effort by our leaders to keep the people below poverty line so they can keep the people under leash.
when you don't have money you are vulnerable to control and contented with little,

We worship money tew much in these part of the world and that is what fuels "Corruption".
The president of Nigeria must get extremely high votes from the north. So, if Tinubu had not gotten such votes from the north, he wouldn't have become the president. It is simple...he had to sacrifice votes from his region for the greater cause. For example, he lost Lagos...do you think he can ever lose Lagos? That was a deliberate loss for the greater good. Of course, Sanwo Olu couldnt have lost Lagos. Not possible. Tinubu lost in Lagos 2 weeks before Sanwo Olu won massively. So, they will always do the worst to win Lagos...but Tinubu's lost was a sacrifice for a greater good. Therefore, I disagree that getting more votes from the north nullifies the effect of tribalism.

Now, let me explain why I said tribalism is the main problem. There was a time when I said it was corruption like every other Nigerian...of course, no one disagrees that it is corruption. But then, I realised that it is deeper. I started seeing overpopulation as a huge factor, and I voiced my opinion. Perhaps, some of my posts on overpopulation are still around. Later, I realised that mehn!...illiteracy is the main tool politicians use to still overpower Nigerians. So, I agree with you that politicians deliberately keep Nigerians at the poverty level. But how...by making sure more Nigerians don't have access to education, especially in the north.

But beneath these factors we have raised (corruption, overpopulation, illiteracy and poverty), there is something which will not make all efforts to address these issues work. And this is tribalism. You see tribalism as a tool for installing the president and nepotism in appointing public officers alone...but it goes beyond that. Tribalism is the reason thieves are not punished, and why we cannot fight corruption. If we cannot fight corruption because I will always support the person from my region no matter the shreds of evidence against him, then, how do you expect things to work well?

So, tribalism aids poverty infliction on the citizens because that man who steals what should be given to the poor can easily get away with it as soon as he meets his fellow men in his region.

You said tribe is Nigeria's problems and that no other country with much tribe difference that can go forward, you are wrong.

Without going far, INDIA has more tribal differences than Nigeria and India also has worst religious problems than Nigeria but India is matching forward.
You that is educated and exposed, so...you call India a progressive nation. Na waooo. What are the criteria you used to say India is moving forward? I want to know. A nation with gdp norminal per capital of $2,612 progressive? And Nigeria has $1,755... what is the difference?

There are many many countries with this tribe issue and religion issues than Nigeria but are economically better and doing.
Mention another one...I have just given you the main factor to consider. That you say India is progressive says a lot about you. For sure...you are the one not exposed at all. Have you ever travelled outside Nigeria? Just imagine ooo...this one says India is progressive. Lol. You don't want to know the number of people in India. Or should I give the poverty index of India? Mehn! And you are exposed. Chai!

So, mention another nation with multi-ethnic groups that is progressive ooo.

Statistics are the starting point to solving any problems, so u are wrong again.
Of course, statistics are needed, and I said it...and I said...beyond this...Obi should mention solutions.

Oga...do you know your problem now...it is still tribalism. You are an Igbo and you are supporting Obi vos he is Ibo. This is still the problem we are talking about.

See...if you see the positive thing in this post.. and you can address Obi to start making suggestions instead of just pushing out data every time without any solution, he may change. The man did the same foolish thing all through the election. He even went to Egypt to see a copy of their electricity....lol...meanwhile Egypt has more and more debt than Naija from the IMF. We dey shout Buhari borrowed...do you know how much Egypt has borrowed? Lol. Egypt of all nations. I just dey laugh.

My broda, we are all in thia together but if we can realise that we are wrong then we will find the solution instead of remaining in ignorance

My broda, walahi...we are in this thing together oooooo. Yes, we are all wrong....and the first we need to accept is that we are all tribalistic....and nepotism will flourish more. And the solution lies in first addressing this issue. And if we see that we cannot, we should agree to part ways gently without war this time. No more Biafra war...we just need to part ways peacefully. No be by force to be Nigerians na.

Exactly my point sir. He cannot see everything the president is seeing....and then, he comes and gives statistics. At least, he should look deeper and try to figure out what this administration is trying to do. Sure, we can see how reckless they are, but deep inside...what can we do about it is my concern. He too will get there and do the same thing because they close everything. What about having a system that puts everything open there? Why can't we have an open book for operational expenses of all states and Abuja? Why not? Why can't we set up a system that is an open book for us all to see? It is possible, but we won't do it. Yoruba aren't talking now cos Tinubu is there just like how the North did not talk when Buhari was there. And then Obi would come on board and the same cycle continues.

I agree with you that tribalism is an issue but I don't think it's a major one. Corruption and lack of accountability are the banes of all our problems. Forget about the online noise. Corruption is the cancer killing us, but tribalism is the main nutrient fueling it. I have talked about this in my posts.

I would like to use China as this case study..and I am just hearing that there are many ethnic groups in China. Could you give me a reference to study this? I will then want to see how strong the ethnic groups are. Maybe they aren't strong anymore...and maybe they deliberately killed it.

I want to see if they use state of residence or state of origin there. Do you get me? Cos if they are presently using state of residence...they have killed many ethnic groups. Tell Lagosians to adopt a state of residence and you will see war. Lol. Tell the Igbos to allow it in their region also...ams see war. Igbos who do not want to give anything to their females are the ones who will allow other people to come to have the same rights as them in their state.

Now, do you get where I am heading?

I think that if we can find a leader that can put mechanisms in place to minimise corruption and ensure accountability we'll definitely step out of this doldrum.

Cheers.

Sir, I do not think any leader will be able to put any mechanism in place as long as we don't deal first with tribalism. No Hausa or Fulani will ever be accountable for anything taken from the south. Have you seen where anyone from the north accounts properly for the oil taken from the south? They know what they have done wrong and it is why they aren't going to ask FG to start mining Lithium and Uranium from the north. There are supernatural resources that can make Nigeria extremely rich there too and they prefer to do ilegal mining there. Meanwhile, they want to take the whole crude oil and gas from the south. Mind you....I see Tinubu bombarding these natural resources there...and I see Obi doing same. Is this still not tribalism?

I stand by my point...as difficult as corruption is to fight, it is no way on the level of tribalism. And this tribalism is so cruel that it hides beneath many problems....so that it is the last thing one sees. And when one sees it...they won't one to talk about it....attack herr and there.

I like this point. Bro...from what I have seen....the effect of tribalism has been killed in many of these nations. One example is UK Wales and Scotland. Another is Catalan in Italy. Someone told me about China also that there are about 56 ethnic groups there too. And what about the United States?

But guess what? There is a simple system I have been proposing....this system is what all these countries used to kill the effect of tribalism...what is it? Using the state of residence system instead of a state of origin. You see the Igbo man who has not been to Igbo land oooo... and he is fighting for the land he has not stepped his feet. Lol. Can a Lagosian accept that Igbo have the same benefit? Is this not what plays in the quota of universities in Nigeria? Someone who doesn't live in Lagos but whose origin is Lagos gets to enter Lagos State University ahead of that Hausa and Igbo boy his parents pay Lagos taxes oooo. What kind of a useless system is this? And you say tribalism is not the problem here?

As soon as that English man crosses to Scotland, and fulfils certain conditions, he has the same right as the English man...and vice versa. The same goes for the man originally from NY and as soon as he crosses and fulfils the rights to be a resident of CA, that is it. Can you same the same here? A beg...this issue is deep.

What is meant by tribalism is a situation whereby tribal agenda is set over and above any other national agenda.

Oga, the bolded issue is exactly what caused the Biafra war. Do not let us go there...cos if we go...I will lay out facts. APC is just doing a modern repetition of what has been in existence, sir. You only want to say it now cos it is not favourable to you. Thats it. I beg...it has been there even before APC.

So, are you saying Ipob, Ijaw and bla bla bla are all going about it the right way? So, Nnamdi Kanu's threats are ok. Asari Dokubo's ways of threatening people and all the "jam jam" in the Niger Delta are ok? Oga, so have you seen the benefits of the Ijaw militants? They are only enriching themselves. The same Asari Dokubo that did the biddings of Tinubu...and cos his tribe aren't many in the govt, he called Tinubu out. Are these things right?

Agitation for Biafra existed under PDP but no one affiliated with the party turned it to instrument of demonising the region.

APC has just shown the deep tribalistic wickedness in us. Oga, Nigerians are desperately wicked...and it is not an APC thing. You are only tribalistic here cos you are from the East. This is still the problem. Tribalism will never allow us to solve the problem. How can APC which was established in 2015 our main problem when the issues of the Biafra war started in the 60s and have not been solved?

You are just being tribalistic.

Can you ever support the idea of using state of residence in Nigeria instead of using state of origin? It means that a Hausa man or Yoruba man can be the state governor in your state. Can you allow it?

Since you are sure you are older than me without seeing me....lol.... anyway....I am going to discuss issues only and not do this beating of the chest with you. So...quit this. If you meet me in real life...you will be shocked. So, just leave this nonsense and let's face the real issues here.

Na waooo! I won't try to even say anything here.

Won't say anything here either.

I said you're younger than I am and I stand by it. You don't know anything about Nigeria or even the countries you mentioned. You just lumped everything to fit your narrative irrespective of the facts.
First of all, it reflects poorly on you that someone who claims to know tribalism is Nigeria's problem and is offering solution is a tribal bigot himself. You already assumed I'm igbo because you think it's only igbo that hates APC. It's this narrow view by tribal bigots that we have as our problem and APC is the harbinger of that problem. Anyone who speaks against APC is quickly given a label with which to deride and water down his observations no matter how genuine. Very shameful.
First of all, to show your ignorance, UK's tribal colouring is still very active. No one can become Scottish first minister in parliament except a Scott.
US does not have tribes the way UK or Nigeria do. What US deals with is racism and it transcends tribes. I hope I don't have to waste my time schooling you on the difference.
Your so-call solution is meaningless because countries with tribes like UK or Switzerland don't look to suppress the tribes but instead give everyone a sense of ownership or belonging. That's what PDP at least managed to do but APC have gone the other direction since they took power.
The Biafran war was fought because that sense of ownership was being eroded and it started from 1963 when the NPC was using Akintola to infiltrate the Western region. It led to political instability in the West which was the seat of federal govt and ultimately led to the coup. The military guys furthered it by abolishing regionalism in line with their command structure but they didn't dismantle the regional structure. It was this contradiction that ultimately led to the civil war you're mouthing about but I don't expect you to know since the only thing you know is Igbos were defeated.
Like I already told you, since 1999, PDP pulled as many tribes as possible to the centre and tribal agitations were never weaponised against tribes until APC came and every issue is now viewed through tribal lens just as you just did with me!
