Firstly you don't know where I come from before drawing conclusion that I hate Nigeria for saying the truth, besides you seem not to be aware that Buhari government collected funds for crude upfront, and few weeks ago Punch reported that FG are considering importing crude from Venezuela.
I am almost 50 years of age and don't have the time to trade banter with some kids online.
There was nothing in my comment that suggests that I hate Nigeria, rather I asked that we lower our expectations for now .
do we have crude oil in Nigeria?
If yes,why will an indigenous company import crude oil?
You said you are about 50,unless you are part of the people who are ruling Nigeria, that's when you should say that I was referring to you as the haters of Nigeria.
Check my comment again,I said that "those who hate Nigeria are the ones leading while those who love Nigeria are being called names"

Yeah I understand your point now, you're right. The people in government don't care about the masses, they're only after the nation's wealth.

You have to consider which one gives you the maximum benefit.

If you are closer to raw materials and it’s costly on your route to market, you have to consider nearness to market.

You are open to all consideration. You can’t win on all. You have to forgo one for the other.
DANGOTE felt he could still get the raw materials cheaply while he situates the refinery in Lagos. That’s why he went for closer to market.

So Rule is not a static rule. You have to juggle things together and know which one is of lesser evil.

DANGOTE cannot risk the unrest going on in south south and then site his refinery there. You know he borrowed the money.

Those refineries in south south were constructed when there were nothing like unrest.

If you are situating your factory, you have to run away from a volatile region. It’s good to setup where it is safe l, even though you are not closer to raw materials.
Dangote initially wanted to site the refinery in the Niger Delta, but in their usual fashion of using their excessive demands to drive businesses away from their lands, they made an unreasonable demands and he jettisoned the idea. He wanted to go to Ondo, but Ambode hijacked him and gave him free land in Lagos.

The biggest refineries in the world are in Singapore,South Korea and India.
They don't have oil.
Having oil and location of refineries are not related

Dangote is

1.Not going to save the economy.

We are not earning enough dollars in the first place. That is our problem.

2.Not going to crash oil prices.

Unless you want government to pay his costs and pay back his loans, fuel from that refinery is going to cost above N900.

If fuel from that refinery cost above #900, does that mean he won't sell in Nigeria, because we are buying at #600?

As lay men, what do you think will be the way out, government increasing the pump price or him selling to other countries (which will negate all the government hypes on the refinery) or government paying the extra (which will take us back to the subsidy that was removed)?

Government should simply deregulate the downstream and let Dangote sell at a profit so that he would have the money to keep the refineries running.

Yes, Nigerians will suffer and yes, I know I am a fool for advocating more burdens on Nigerians , but in the world we live in, people like being paid. For 50 years we have kept petrol cheap and we lost 4 refineries doing so.

Niger sells fuel at over 1000 naira and their refinery has worked well for over 11 years without subsidy. Why can't we do the same?

Anyway, na so e be.

Considering the current government hinged most of their promises on this refinery, the question becomes, is it that they were dull not to have known this reality or they intentionally deceived Nigerians?

Sometimes I ask myself, what age brackets are in this nairaland? Their appetite to reasoning and sense of attack on ethnic and religious sentiments never solves the hardship living presently with them.
Whether you are from the north, south, west or east....
Whether the president is your tribal brother or religious by faith; it is irrelevant. HARDSHIP is hardship. And this is why we leave our country to worry about the western world because it concerns two persons assumed to be religious difference.
Meanwhile, our home is wretched, our governments are looting us dry. We are fighting ourselves (fellow poor masses) poisoning them, kidnapping them and murdering them. Yet the rich politicians are celebrated.

Rotimi amaechi said it. Until u stone us the politicians, we will continue our work that we know best.

If the attack is not obedient personified supporters, it is upon as a region or agbado or arewa.

Shame to us all. Shame to the few that eat crumbs to support evil. Shame to the youths, shame to nairaland owner for promoting poverty , shame to us all

Follow my posts. I don't do tribalism and political nonsense. I have no time for that.

At a time, we all thought this refinery would not receive crude this year, but see now.

I know thr country is somehow, but let's be positive. cool cool

Hope you know receiving crude has nothing to do with actual production. Crude is stored in tanks till they are ready to be used. It can even be sold if they wish. I'm not a hater but at this point, the govt has been into theatrics and celebrating unfinished projects and it's hard to trust them. I will hate to see that in future, we are going to celebrate another milestone of this refinery, maybe tagged something else without actually seeing a drop of fuel. Of course the refinery would surely work. But till then. They should stop the showbiz
