Much as the tories want you to think your inability to access timely healthcare, get a schoolplace for your child is due to immigration, it is not.

Populations should increase with time . This increase is desirable inorder to provide the funds and human resources needed to power the economy, pay pensions etc.

Its been known for decades that the uk needed to build more houses , hospitals, train more staff. Funding was allocated for this in advance.

What we have seen in the past 13 years is funding cuts every year . What we are suffering now is the result of public services built for the population of 2010 being used by the population of 2023.

According to the ONS here , we did not even grow as much as expected, yet we are struggling https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/populationandmigration/populationestimates/bulletins/annualmidyearpopulationestimates/mid2021#population-change-for-uk-countries

Thank God am not the one the saying this, I would have been termed emotional or hypocrite

When are you planning to leave the U.K to help decongest some of these over crowded facilities?

Let’s have open borders then. Scrap visas and let everyone come in today. 10million in one year. Free for all! You’ll be the first to run out.

I am asking a simple question. The question is when how are you planning to leave?

Your response above doesnt look like a time frame.

I agree with your comment, especially the bolded..
However, it's worth noting that population growth is now being fuelled by migration, and not births. We're not alone in this, it's a similar picture across Europe, but it is still discomfiting to indigenes for various obvious reasons.

Extract from 2023 ONS study
Unlike in 1962, when the increase in population was largely because of a high number of births, the population increase in mid-2022 is mostly driven by an increase in net international migration.

The aspect of visa renewal is still vague, I just feel for those on 2 or 3 years work visas. There was nothing stopping the govt to address that area immediately like the way the nhs aspect was quickly addressed.

They would complain even louder if their taxes were raised even higher to fund pensions and public services due to an aging population and not enough people of working age to fund it. How would they like to work 2 jobs to fill vacancies? They probably wouldn't like it very much

Even if every woman currently in this country has one child today, it would still take 18 years to make any useful contribution to the workforce. Who fills the gap in the meantime ? You guessed it...Immigrants

Lastly , and to me, the most compelling argument You cannot stop demographical change. Empires have tried , failed and been forgotten. ( the spartans tried, didnt work. Japan is finding out to their cost as they are now in demographic uncharted waters) . The demographics of the British Isles have changed over centuries. Its not going to stop in our lifetimes.

You cannot stop it, you just have to accept it

I mean an experienced doctor ( you need 5 yrs of training to be a GP) can usually tell who is making things up or not, cant they?

Why are they not using this training and experience to save public money? Why are they abetting it by issuing fit notes they cannot stick their necks out on?
Surely fit notes cannot be based on vibes alone...

If a doctor like, let them have methuselah years of experience. If the ‘patient’ claims lack of sleep, distress, anxiety and mental health being affected. Mentions general body weakness. The doctor must give sick note.

You speak as though the Tories inherited a very vibrant economy.

You speak as though Labour is eldorado.
Remind us again… how long has Labour been running affairs in Wales?
Is Wales a shining example?

This fit note sounds reasonable in the short term while perhaps exploring a mental health assessment or medication.

Why do you say "claims"?

They did inherit a vibrant economy and have now run it into the ground.
Everything hinges on funding. If Westminster does not fund the devolved governments, there is very little they can do, even with the best will in the world.

Its even more shameful that even with the most funding of the 4 nations, the most people, this is the mess the tories have delivered in 13 years.

Huh Blair-Brown left a ‘vibrant economy’? Are you for real?

Where is a Labour-run Westminster going to get the funds to share out to the devolved governments?

Let me help you with one source: Cancel non-Dom status. Great! How much will that raise?

Question: How will Labour do it differently?
How does Labour intend to tackle the migration ‘crises’?

I am 100% for real. This is from 2017 so hasn't even factored in the dogs dinner since the economy.

I m happy that you are keeping up to date with labour policy. Yes the rich will be taxed till the pips squeak. I shouldn't pay more tax than roshis wife.

As to immigration, labour ll do the common sense thing they have been doing to tackle immigration : set up a processing centre in France,
fund the courts so asylum seekers hearings can proceed faster,
fund more training for people already in the country in order to tackle the current severe skills shortage. Check immigration rates in 2010

I m excited to finally get a tory in debate. I went doorknocking in May. No-one admitted to being a tory. Too ashamed so I m happy that seems to be over. You are welcome to the thread ,Mx Tory.

You cannot stop migration, nor should you want to for it provides many benefits to the host country, but you can control it
which is what the government is trying to do.
Uncontrolled or very high levels of migration creates its own set of problems.

Lols the Tories certainly did not inherit a vibrant economy, because they came into power in the aftermath of the 2008 global financial crisis and after the likes of Lehman Brothers and Northern Rock had collapsed and RBS had to be nationalised. Labour actually left a now infamous letter in the Treasury saying " I'm afraid there's no money" which the Tories have used ever since as evidence to attack Labour's economic record.

Ironically the Tories have ended up doing more damage to the economy after their 13 year austerity experiment and systematic defunding of public services, so Labour is going to inherit an even worse economy when they come into power in 2024/25

If you recently moved address, you can write them a letter/email, pleading your case .... They might be kind to you .......

Wish to cancel mine too coz of the poor network in my area but the said I will have to pay up the remaining balance...
Does it make any different? I signed my two year contract in December last year inside their shop.

Wish to switch to EE coz its stronger here... what do you advise please

And the COS cannot be for more than 4 years, so they can only get at most 3 years COS and upon renewal the 38,700k will now apply. I hope folks are aware.

Hopefully after 3 -4 years of solid workex (plus inflation), they would be able to command salaries in that range

What does that say?

The uplift of the skilled worker salary threshold from £26,200 to £38,700 is significant– won’t that affect a large number of occupations?

The policy change means we are asking employers to focus on recruiting the brightest and best, those earning within the top half of the earnings spectrum for both their occupation and all skilled occupations.
Salary discounts for those towards the start of their careers will still exist, but it is right to focus on supporting a high-skilled, high-productivity, high-wage economy.

Those on student visas and post study are seen as new entrants into the labour market where new entrant rule applies. Salary threshold at 70% of 38700 which is 27k but only 3 years of COS
