Dear Nairalanders and Advertisers.

Nairaland's server was taken down by our host's abuse team because of an abuse report that wasn't attended to on time.

After rectifying the error, we brought the server back for a few minutes, but they decided to take the server down again. Since then, we haven't heard from the abuse team, yet the support team keeps insisting that only the abuse team can help us.

So we had to transfer Nairaland to a temporary host in order to bring it back to you. A VERY time-consuming process. We are not fully back, even though most features of the site are working. We still have a long way to go. Additional downtime is likely; don't let it alarm you.

There's a lot more to say, but I have to go back to work to ensure that our return is permanent. Please forgive us for the stress we caused. We appreciate the love and support that you showed us during the ordeal. Nairaland is too important for us to let this happen again.

Best Regards,
Seun Osewa.
Best of luck,baba

Seun move your site to host that doesn't give a fuvcck about any abuse usage.

Since they know your site can be taken down by reporting to some whatever host, expect more take down grin grin

Hi sir, nice to hear that nairaland is partially back. But can you explain to us what the abuse was?

Yes, we need to know

I would never had admitted that I was addicted to Nairaland.

Wow. I had to go looking on X. Sadly I saw that there are lots of unhappy people with Seun Osewa's Nairaland.

This is a learning curve for Seun too, and I believe he is the man to take his lessons home.

People always run around saying this..."Nairaland is worth Bleep". You have no idea what it costs to BUILD your own data centre. Let's not even talk about operating costs. Even reddit does not own it's data centre na come Nairaland.

how much does it cost to own a server ? sever no be big thing as you think you can have an premium online cloud specially designed for nairaland with no restrictions

So nairaland is still depending on a host ? Why ? When you can own a server and take all abuse, and nobody does anything.

Where will he put his server? In his house? And does self hosting mean that Nairaland will be able to tolerate abuse without consequences? Excess abuse and whoever is supplying them bandwidth can withdraw that bandwidth and they will be offline. Or the suppliers of the software they use can ask them to desist from using their software.

Good but put measures in place to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Seun! Seun! Seun! How many times have did I call you.. Its time to move nairaland of commercial hosting (either partially or fully). You can buy your own server and co-locate or even host your own self. Its not easy or cheap but would pay in the long run. See as oyinbo hosting just disgrace nairaland. For a business like yours they should not be taking too long to answer your requests (except you are not an important customer). Nigeria loves nairaland so this should be the last time this kind of thing is happening....

I hope you truly learned a lesson here.

The abuses, insults and tribalism on Nairaland that you have allowed to go on for far too long in the name of generating traffic will one day be the end of this Forum if you continue to be indifferent to these issues.

A stitch in time, as they say, save nine!

You have been oozing prophesies about dooms day for this forum Nairaland..

So cloudflare has mind to take you down for days.
Despite money you pay to them.

How much is NL paying that cloudflare will want that to tarnish it's brand reputation?

So you are one of those who sleep on nairaland from morning till night.
If you said so. I have more than enough free time from daily duties. So, I prefer expressing myself where I could get sufficient resource for my projects.

Will that "Premium online cloud" be situated in Seun's house or will it be seated in a data centre? Will that data centre be also owned by Seun? How about bandwidth will he also own it too?
