As the "tumultuous" DCEU comes to an end with the release of Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom, it is kind of a relief, as it never really got "going", distorted and disjointed to say the least. I did enjoy some of the features. Barring when i see Aquaman 2, below is my ranking from my most fave to least.🎬

JL had it's problems, even more than BvS, but i just enjoyed it more. I could easily sit through it again and rewatch, but i think i saw BvS just once and never opened it again.

Anyway, I'm not even batting an eyelid. If I was close to a cinema, I'll go and watch Aquaman 2 fast.

I have never seen a movie that was bang on, set up to fail both "commercially" and "critically". Amazing to note, the first one made such a huge B.O success. I remember seeing it at the Cinema in 2019 and the hall was packed full.
There is actually a plathora of reasons why the failure of this was written in stone ages ago, and if a was a proper betting man, i would have put my entire funds on it failing terribly and that 36% RT score currently is merciful, as i honestly thought it will be lower.

In case many people still forgot, Aquaman grossed $67mn in the US opening weekend in 2018 and was the lowest opening of a DCEU flick at the time. Funny enough, it still is became the biggest grossing DC movie ever (inflation unadjusted).
Everyone forgets its actually Christmas....one thing peculiar with Xmas releases is low opening gross but superb legs. So on paper, if Aquaman 2 performs slightly similar (with superb legs) as its predecessor, then $600mn is in play.

Aquaman 2 might flop hard but it definitely grossing better than the nonsense KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON box office Variety and the likes were using sweet words and gaslighting to make it look like a success.

Any Hollywood box office enthusiast worth his salt knows December/Xmas box office opening weekends are nothing compared to other months but their "weekdays holds" is where the money at. Xmas films has exceptional legs because of the holiday season and since it's Christmas most people don't really come out enmasse in weekends but during weekdays.

Honestly. It was difficult to tell what was real or not. The cgi was near perfect. It blended well that one wouldn't notice they aren't real . Talking about the aliens. This is a rewatch but felt like the first time it was played .

The "headline" may be a click bait but i think, it being a flop is subject to context as i think they are comparing it with how Superheroes movies have "failed" this year compared to how well they used to do back then because they were the ultimate blockbuster flicks, for reference, Avengers Endgame earned $100m within 17 hours, and ironically that was Martin Scorsese's beef with CBM lol, that they had no "soul" yet they make so much money.

The fact critics gave this movie 24% should be punishable. This movie was really cool to me. any other thing i say would be a spoiler

Average movie but visually stunning. Not sure why Momoa decided to act like he did in Fast X here with the over the top corny jokes and mannerisms.

If you hate Amber Heard well she's in the movie alot although you could tell that they cut her footage as much as they could.

Black Manta was just there and the ending was just meh with no pay off for the supposed tension between him and aquaman.

A disappointing end to the DCEU, James Gunn your Superman legacy better slap o.

Maybe. Maybe not.
But they also know a lot of fans ain't that interested in Kang or where disappointed with the portrayal. Some wanted him more badder, stronger and menacing, especially the fans angry Antman could have defeeated him.

I know Variety has been having an agenda to trash on CBM films all through this year.
My main gripe with them ain't really particularly about Aquaman 2 but more or less why their bias is blatantly skewed favourably towards some movies while they're brutal to some or plain lying through the teeth.

Whether it was an Apple production or planned for early VOD release doesn't really mean much cos ALL these films are destined for VOD nonetheless by their parent companies. Also, it was obvious Apple was serious about this movie and would get a wide theatrical distribution with their deal with Paramount and Sony for their upcoming films (Napoleon and Argyle included). So the rules still somewhat applies. CBMs as well has been having early VOD releases throughout the year. Some within a month and a few weeks as well.

My issue with Variety is posting dubious "success" for their perceived "friends" movies and then badmouthing others like BALLAD OF THE SONGBIRDS. Variety was actively painting that film as underwhelming while that film has largely been a success while hyping up KOTFM when hardly anyone was interested in it.

That's just clown work to me.
