Beuberry:Cloudflare didn't take down Nairaland server. Infact Cloudflare is not a webhosting company. Also note that the take down was not due to comments here, there is another serious reason eg. a fake address of the website owner in the Whois record of Nairaland can lead to a take down. Or the upload of prohibited files on the server by the owner eg. a malware or Trojan or even using Nairaland server as a C&C to control a Botnet. Finally we cannot rule out the possibility of self take down carried out by Seun Osewa in the incident of a hacking that occurred, in this case a self takedown is to clean up the server and get rid of any malicious file or program. Explanation is needed from Seun Osewa. |

Beuberry:What is the basis for your anger? Or is it that you misunderstood me? I said Cloudflare is not the webhosting company that took down Nairaland. Cloudflare is just a Content Delivery Network (CDN). Meaning Cloudflare can't take down Nairaland. The official webhosting company that took down Nairaland is called OVH SAS,and the server is located in Granville, France. |

Those people advising Seun Osewa to get his own server to host Nairaland are just telling him to permanently shutdown Nairaland, because it is clear that Seun cannot handle the high level of cyber attack that will face Nairaland... Come to think of it Seun Osewa felt like a god to the extent he ignored abuse report from his hosting provider, then you expect him to do what with his own server? Bottom line is if Seun Osewa should host Nairaland on his own webserver then he must be ready to follow all international abuse rules, else the domain name (Nairaland.com) will be seized. Then you get something like Nairaland.org or Nairaland.co, if things should go this way then Nairaland is dead. 1 Like 1 Share |

o123456789:Ok. Tell Seun to host this site on private server make OVH SAS no dey hold his blokkos. Moreso, why do we see cloudflare interface before logging in or attaching pic? |

Re: Nairaland Is Partially Back; A Work In Progress by o123456789(m): 1:40pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Beuberry:Yes, we see Cloudflare when we login to Nairaland, because Nairaland uses Cloudflare as a CDN to make the website more faster during browsing. And Cloudflare is also an anti DDOS service. On the other hand I will not advise Seun Osewa to do self hosting, as this will give him the false impression that no matter the abuse Nairaland can't be taken down, but simple truth is that the domain name nairaland.com can be seized and if the abuse is against the USA, UK or Australia, anything connected to Nairaland.com including buildings, computers, vehicles etc can be confiscated for ever. My advice to Seun Osewa is to continue to use paid webhosting and also take abuse report seriously. 1 Like 1 Share |

Yampotatocarrot: In business world, if a company is not improving, not moving forward . Or meeting the standards of todays market . They have to change the CEO, Apple does it. Amazon does it. You want Nairaland to be stagnant forever. Thats selfishness |

airsaylongcome: Absolutely agree. The focus should indeed be on rectifying the underlying issue that has led to the decline in Nairaland's quality over the years. Prioritizing efforts to cleanse the platform of the tribalistic content is crucial in restoring its integrity and ensuring it fosters healthy, constructive discussions. |

Seun:@Seun, Nice to have this Website back. I was on NL the very day it suddenly lost host connection and I got to know finally through Punch newspaper online and several online media that you posted on X that Cloudflair suspended NL temporarily. I tried visiting alternate Websites but NOTHING compares to Nairaland with that eye-friendly green monochrome background. I've been a veteran NL member since 2005 with an older account and will continue to be. You also have to start working on putting in place a major contingency plan in case you are indisposed and not readily gonna be available so that NL can continue to function without you. Welcome back again. 1 Like 1 Share |
