Most assistantships cover tuition in full. Some provide for room and board. Most stipends you receive while working will typically cover the living expenses, you just don't need to spend recklessly.

The only thing most assistantships don't cover is health insurance and students fees, but those can only be paid from stipend since most assistantships offer subsidized health insurance.

You just have to be wise and apply to where the money is.

If you sabi your onion, US schooling won't stress you at all.
Ok ooh.. How come these MBA assistantships aren't readily to US residents and citizens pursuing MBA?

Dont be misinforming people.. Scholarship for intl students is money in the bank… VO would we prefer US scholarship over FG scholarship.
Good luck
Lol I'm not sure what the guy is on about. The first thing that made my interview easy was that the VO saw I had a scholarship. From then on he didn't even ask about sponsorship.

@Najdorf you with @BigIyanga are just advertising fake visa for the purpose of attracting clients . If your visa is real there is a part you can snap for the public to see and cover the remaining details . VO saw that you had scholarship and he did not ask about sponsorship and just gave you visa 😀. Go and tell that to the fools .

I have not met @NewBoyKashogggi but i use to follow his posts and detailed style of explanations. I also observed that you with your cabals usually attack or try to bully newbies on Nairaland which is a very bad omen for the growth of Nairaland .

Don't bring politics into Nairaland , stop mentioning or abuse the authorities on Nairaland . What we are dealing with here is USA visa issues.

Back to your point , i want to support @NewBoyKashoggi that your claim of scholarships is USELESS FOR VISA PURPOSES. What @NewboyKashoggi is saying and which i support is that no matter how good is your Scholarship IT WILL OR DOES NOT GUARANTEED YOUR VISA.

Encourage students to focus on genuine intentions, SOP , Post graduation plans , How to communicate with the CO convincingly etc. Not focusing on unecessary scholarships which takes away all other visa qualification qualities.

It is good to have scholarships if you can access it but after accessing it and failed to garner other qualities , you will use your scholarship in your home library . Or you want to tell me that all applicants in Nigeria will or must access scholarships ?

HAVE A NICE DAY .

Everyone is eligible to work as an assistantship.

US residents work as assistantships.

Who told you they don't work as assistants?

Remember the graduate assistantship positions are limited, everyone cannot get an assistantship.

That's why people are encouraged and advised to apply to as many schools as possible.

Good evening everyone. I have a pertinent question here and I’ll be glad if anyone can give advise.

I came to Nigeria to renew my F1 visa after completing mt masters and it was recently granted. I have offer of phd admission which I plan to resume in January. However, I have reasons to stay behind in Nigeria for now due to reasons beyond my power. I have already transferred my SEVIS to the school I’m going to and in fact did all onboarding process. However I emailed the school about my decision not to enrol at this time. This mean my visa will get cancelled including the SEVIS. If I apply for another PhD admission in the nearest future, won’t this issue cause problem during visa interview? This will mean I’ll pay for another SEVIS and all that.

Hey 🤠

Your question is a teaser , but i will try my best and leave the rest for other positive responses.

© Since you have successfully transferred your SEVIS from your old school to the new one then you do not have to worry , the only fear you should have is IF YOU DID NOT TRANSFER YOUR SEVIS SUCCESSFULLY.

1. To my little understanding, If you were approved a visa and did not travel , or chose to not enroll into your new school, i think this is okay ...

2. And if your visa is still valid till you are ready to travel again , you would not need to apply for a new visa , all you need is a new Form I 20 from your new school

3. You can travel on your old visa (even if the school name on the I 20 and visa did not match ).

4. If you remain in Nigeria till your present visa expires , you do not have any fear or problem to secure another F1 visa and pay another SEVIS fee . DID YOU COMMIT ANY CRIME IN THE US BEFORE YOU TRAVEL BACK ?

5. Genuiness of purpose (good reason why you did not travel and enroll ) with other convincing elements is what the Consular officer is looking for .

6. PRINT OUT THE CORRESPONDENCE BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR FORMER SCHOOL & BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR PRESENT SCHOOL and keep it as a record to show your future Consular officer when going for your visa.

U dey mind him.. lol . With your US college scholarship letter, some landlords and leasing companies would accept it as proof of fund… let him/her try using Naija bank account or FG govt scholarship letter lol.

Everyone is eligible for US visa … how many applicants get approved?
Truth is, MBA full ride scholarships for intl students are a lot more difficult for smart and savy students than stem students… and most Naija applicants in this japa wave… are below or average. Good luck keeping the hope alive!

@ArinzeAminuBOYS.

Thank you for standing behind me . But kindly desist from mentioning me in your post except in a positive manner, so that it won't look as if we are colluding to fan the flame of resentment .

Accessing scholarship is a good thing and it boost %40 of visa success , we cannot totally write off accessing of scholarships.

Let us respect the elders on Nairaland because some people have been here before us despite the fact that you claimed to be an old netizen .

Thank you once again @ArinzeAminuBOYS.

Good morning all, please what is your advice? A friend of mind got PhD assistantship at Kent State University and planning to go with hubby and two kids. She was denied first attempt as she told the VO that the husband would be taking care of the children while she’s studying but I told her to say the husband and kids are just going to help her settle in and would be back in 3 weeks.
Please gurus, hope it’s ok to say that?
Thank you

Hey 🤠

Let her leave the family behind for now if she doesn't want to forfeit her PhD opportunity.

1. Good alternative, she can re apply with the kids without the hubby.

2. Better alternative, she can reapply with the youngest kid and leave the rest behind.

3. Best alternative, let her re apply alone .

4. If she want to go by all means with the whole family then she has to work on lot of things .

NOTE*****

Its not compulsory to quickly travel with your nuclear family , US embassy doesn't operate like the UK or Canada . She also need a good teacher to take her on with good communication gimmicks with the Consular .

Hey 🤠

1. You do not need any medical examination to attend an F1 visa interview in both embassy locations in Nigeria ( Abuja / Lagos).

2. May be your agent or what you heard or what they told you about is BIOMETRIC which IS FREE and will be done for you inside the embassy ON THE DAY OF YOUR INTERVIEW.

3. These are what you should take to the embassy :

*** Form I 20
***"SEVIS fee payment receipt
*** MRV (visa fee) payment receipt
**** DS 160 confirmation page
*****2 Passport photo
Financial Proof ....

NB; There are other US visa categories which requires some form of medical examinations but NOT STUDENT VISA.

Hi guys

I'm new here, I am currently a 400 lvl student in a federal university in Nigeria (my course is 5 years), I averaged well in my 100 lvl but after that it all went downhill, I currently have 5 fs ( not because I was unserious though, just passed through a lot of stuffs), my current gpa is between 2.5 - 2.8/4.0 and I am definitely going to spillover some courses and have an extra year, I saw some universities that accept that range of gpa, but my question is will I be able to transfer to a US university with 5 Fs on my transcript?
Or should I just start over with a bachelors degree (is that legal?), I'm currently 20 years old so age is on my side I think..

Please I need your advice guys

Hey 🤠

Don't be discouraged with your CGPA . At age 20 you still have better years ahead . Summon your courage and be determine to graduate in the next 2 years ( I have calculated your imagined extra year) , therefore by age 24 you would have rounded off your NYSC.

You have spent 4 years in a reputable University in Nigeria, therefore be determined to get that Bsc even if you come out with the poorest CGPA . You may want to contest for political offices , banking Jobs NNPC , etc ...don't put out all hope out of NIGERIA .

HOWEVER
=========

1. If you are too determined to start another life in the USA then i will recommend you start from the begining (Bsc) . Write the year 2024 TOEFL and start contacting Universities in the United States from now .

***** If you start from the begining (Bsc) , you will certainly be among the top students in your department based on your years of study back in Nigeria .

**** While you are applying to the US Universities, don't stop your education with your present schoo in Nigeria until when your visa is on your table .

2. If you don't want to start from the beginning , yes you can transfer to US Universities from your current school but no one here can determine your acceptance probability.

***** Send emails to Universities in the USA, explaining your CGPA situation to them and tell them the department that you want to enrol in . They will be glad to reply you and tell you if you are good to start with your transfer process .

3. Start like this ; Google search Public Universities in the United States. Take the schools one by one and email their International Admissions office . By the time you have sent mail to like 25 schools , you will receive responses .

Good afternoon everyone,

I’m trying to get Abuja US F1 Visa interview date for fall 2024.

I don’t know if you know any platform or group that actively shares date and such resource.

Would be glad if you can link me up. Thank you 🙏

Sophie004:

Dear Sophia,
Yes, the person that you replied you is correct. Don't fall to some persons who came to this platform just to rip people off their money in the promise of getting them appointment date.
I fell victor to one guy who first claimed he is a student was refused, but he got a date so easily thereafter and then, when I inquired deeply he directed me to another person to contact, which later become the same person seems correct.

I was refused visa on July 31, 2023 Lagos Consulate and deferred to Spring 2024, and looking for date and fell victim to this guy. My dad has this guy name, account number he sent to us and account name and if my dad wants to setup and arrest him, it is very easy, but my dad told me and my friend, that we should forget about that guy because he did not put gun to threaten us to pay me neither did he force us to send him the money, only he capitalized on my impatience to rip small money out of my dad.

I said we should bring N250,000 and i told my dad my dad sent him N75,000 first to get a date. First he claimed he is a student and was denied as well but got new appointment with ease within one month of his denial. So, we though he could be waking up every hour night and day to be checking date. We fell victim. He even told my Dad that he is working with the US Embassy in Nigeria, which my dad rebuked him as my dad told us (me and my friend).

Anyway, to cut the story short, I gave him my password to my booking portal after my dad sent him the 1st N75,000. But what me and my friend discovered, that he switched to the US Embassy Abuja in my booking portal and then selected ''visa not refused within the past 12 months'' instead of visa refused within the past six months''. and then he switched back to the US Consulate Lagos portal. If you are refused visa within six months and you purchased another visa fee and try to get a date you will keep seeing '' no available appointments now'' until after six months, then the dates will show, but if you select the option of ''visa not refused in the past 12 months, you will see dates showing up.

My friend was surprised why did this guy change to ''visa not refused in the past 12 months''. we told my dad and my dad called him and he denied that he is not the one that did that. He is the next person that has the password. So, we changed it and left it again, and he told my dad that he will still get us a date within 5 business days, then 3 business days passed and yet not date and he is just checking to see if December 28, 2023 will come up for me (with the status as ''visa not refused in the past 12 months'') so he can book and get us the date within late December 2023 and then demand for the balance from my Dad. But you know the consequence and penalty for false selection of an option and even though he has booked the date, it may be possible that appointment may be cancelled and then I get a new fee and who knows whether they may even ban me for the next two years with my passport and records not to book visa appointment again. My fiend advised that we change my password and then ask my dad to call him and tell him to forget in order not to put me into trouble and that N75,000 my dad sent to him is a waste.

We do not blame him, but myself because of impatience. So, I decided to put this information so that other people in this panel will learn. I am sure after January 31, 2024, my portal will be opened for dates for me to book for Fall 2024 intake. I am already deferring my admission to the FAll 2024.

I think others in this platform should learn not to fall into the hands of dupes because of impatience.

Thank you all.
