Merry Christmas house.
Please I have a very important clarification to make; a close friend was issued COS but the company doesn't have shift for him but he got shift offer from another firm in the same profession line,
i. can he do the 40hrs/week from the other firm.
ii. If i. Above is yes, hope this won't affect him with HO.
He is confused and I don't know either, hence this question , your advice will be highly appreciated.

He can only do 20 in the other place. If they offer sponsorship, he can switch

https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/second-job#:~:text=If%20you%20work%20overtime%20in,you're%20being%20sponsored%20for.

If you work overtime in the job you’re being sponsored for, you do not need to update your visa.

There’s no limit to how many hours of overtime you can do.

You can also work up to 20 hours a week in another job or for your own business, as long as you’re still doing the job you’re being sponsored for.

Your work must be either:

in the same occupation code and at the same level as the job you’re being sponsored for
in a shortage occupation

@ the bolded: No. NO. I repeat, NO.
They haven’t. They. Have. Not. They are (probably) extremely very busy and possibly struggling big time too.

Now back to the crux.
What sort of visa do you have?
What sort of skills do you already have (from Naija)?
What types/kinds of jobs are you eyeing?
The answers will help folks to help you with recommendations.

I'm reading all these immigration policy proposals and I'm honestly anxious.

It's just like telling people to go back home without saying it expressly.

Students that came in this September are finding it really difficult to even get into care work with the 6 months UK experience requirement.
How then do they even have hope of the care COS if they can't get a job in the sector?

Please if anyone can help a dear friend schooling in Sheffield to get into care as a student, please help me before this person falls into depression

I went through the link you posted and it states you can have 2 COS meaning you can work for 2 employers as long as they can both sponsor you. Hope I'm correct?

@MissJekyll:
Fun fact: I have personally met James O’Brien.
I shook Nick Ferrari’s hands, but we never really spoke.

I finished reading J’OB’s How they Broke Britain during my commute on December 13th. I note that one of the ‘Theys’ is a certain Islington Politician called Mr Jeremy Corbyn…
Not sure if you will (still be) proud that it’s that same dude you were knocking on doors for, asking the Great UK public to stick into No10.
I have a copies of:
1. Why Can’t we just get along (Ian Dale)
2. How to be right…In a world gone wrong (J’OB)
3. Loathe Thy Neighbour (J’OB))

So you see… my dear sister. We have more in common than in ‘uncommon’

You can withdraw cash from all credit cards ........ An expensive way to use money......

Cash withdrawals would be registered on your credit report and you would appear as desperate to lenders (hence higher risk) + negatively impact your credit score .........

The most important question is, what is on your credit report + your credit score ...........

Have you checked your credit report .........

None of them is good and advisable to withdraw from

If i may ask, why are you seeking to withdraw cash from a CC. You do realize you can pay for most things with a CC just as normally as your debit card or is Cash the only accepted means of payment around you?

Anyways if you decide to go further in applying for a CC. You could consider Amex they are quite lax in giving recent migrants cards (depending on personal circumstance)

My good people!
Can my grandma way come visiting use the A & E at a hospital? Or at our registered GP?
Does this come with heavy cost? Any implication/impart on her next visiting visa application if she uses the Hospital?
Is she even allowed to access it as visitor that didn't pay IHS?
UK polices on Immigrants dey fear person these days

She has got pile (though managing it) but that one that gives me concern is her inability to sleep at nights. I mean she will not sleep?
She has never used any sleeping pills before now?
I don Google tire and the results found is even more confusing.
Please help
Your candid advise would be greatly appreciated

Compliments of the season to All

We've stumbled upon a curious case but perhaps not so curious to more knowledgeable mind here.

A friend is seeking to apply for an apprenticeship in the UK, however it carries the condition

we prioritize applicants eligible to government funding and for this you need to:
- Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years

Now, said friend has lived in the EU for quite a number of years and now been in the UK for about 24 months now. In total a 6 year continuous residence status across both the EEA and the UK.

Now the question is, is this transferable ? Do they meet this residency condition?

I have taken a look at the UK gov paper on student finance ( https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/639860a3d3bf7f3f7e76245d/Eligibility_rules_for_home_fee_status_and_student_finance_from_the_2021_to_2022_academic_year.pdf ) and it's silent on "Residents" rather using the term "citizens" for EEA folks

Wondering is anyone is able to interpret this better or has experience with such and give some guidance (in-between devouring the boxing day chicken)

Any help CC solumtoya, semmyk, Lexusgs430, mamatukas and ors please

She's able to go to the hospital but would have to incur out of pocket costs. Depending on the level of care/treatment required.

One is unable to estimate how much this would be but could probably be about 300 for a single non-referral, non Specialist, no further testing appointment or north of a thousand quid.

Again this all depends on the condition and level of treatment required.

If not an emergency and extreme case, I'd try to manage grandma with what she's probably already used to. Or perhaps grandma is just missing Nigeria ? smiley

American express allows you withdraw cash but you get charged a hefty fee...I think 3% or thereabout.

You may also be able to get around it by buying stuff and sell it thereafter e.g crypto, shares

For emergency treatment, A&E would be ideal........

You should start to panic, if she is admitted..... An NHS overnight bed alone is £600(without consultations, treatments and medications)........ NHS go tear you better bill...😂

. The hack for withdrawal from Amex Card is this : open a PayPal account , link your Amex card to it. Get a trusted friend to also open a PayPal account . Then transfer the cash via PayPal and it comes with zero transaction fees. Rinse and repeat. Then thank me later. But you should choose friend and family in PayPal so as to avoid transaction fee. Also label it as gift.

Is this not against PayPal's terms of agreement? I'll advise the op to err on the side of caution.

Try to sort this loan from other sources, credit card cash advance should be your very last resort because it is not cheap and it has very dire consequences for your credit journey more importantly as you are just trying to find your footing. You don't want to start with such weight hanging around your neck.
All the best.
