My thoughts too

With their stereotype cast, poorly written script, same faces in every picture, bad Special effects, bad…….

If I walk into a room and see you on any of the African magic channels, out of the many channels on cable tv you could watch, I rate you 4/10 and can’t see myself discussing either politics, current affairs or sports with you cause
we won’t be on the same page.

Nollywood in the 90s and early 2000s was quite something to write home about and look forward to, with a stellar cast, great script and beautiful soundtracks from Stanley okorie (chain reaction). It made our childhood and gave us something to love and cherish in the absence of cable tv. Sad to note that there’s been a steady decline in the production of good Nollywood movies in recent years.

Exactly what I am talking about. They have refused to improve as they are always predictable.
Grammatical errors in their spoken English.
They have a long way to go.

I dey always avoid men like that. Overtime, their thought process go begin malfunction. Lemme give you an instance:

I used to be an OAP. I quit working with a radio station and moved to another one. But I realized the former radio station was still using the station IDs/sweepers I did for them with my voice. I was pissed off. I told two of my guys back then. One was pissed off too and told me to threaten them with a lawsuit if they didn't take down their stuff that still had my voice. Like, that's the logical thing to do.

The other guy opened his mouth and said that it's because the former place still missed me and my quality.
When he said that, myself and the other guy just looked at him and felt so much pity for him. This guy watched too much Nollywood, the thing done shift him brain. Him don dey think like woman (emotions over logic!).

Ever since then, I started avoiding the annoying 'Bob risky'.

Lol truly Nollywood reduces your thinking capacity. I see top artiste and actress speaking wrong English. I will just shake my head as in what are the editors doing.

Hollywood is unpredictable. Do you know the number of inventions that have come to be in real life that originated from Hollywood?
The Nigerian Afrobeat is class because they up their game but our Nollywood is just quantity and no quality.

Like most things Nigerian, the movie industry is mediocre. But I find it funny that those who claim to have high taste here consider a bottom of the barrel franchise like Fast and Furious to be top quality.

Have you watched The Black book, King of thieves? Omo ghetto the saga, Battle on Buka street, Jagun Jagun, Blood sisters, Gone, Merry Men and so on?

Clearly you are still watching African Magic where they show you movies from 2017 and below.

I also disliked Nollywood but some of its latest movies have been amazing.

Note: I said some.

Black book is still my fav for now.

You see the bolded right there? That is the main problem with nollywood movies.

THEY DO NOT TRIGGER THE IMMAGINATION

And that's why the oyibo dare to dream about the type of aspirations that we down here can only be privileged to stumble upon.

Asaba movies what is their general theme? The ones shot in the cities and villages? Their plots are mostly recycled stories with different casts.

I will prefer my kids to be watching movies about humans colonising Mars and fighting interstellar wars with the aliens we run into there. It is all make belief yes but it triggers the minds of these kids to be forward thinking. They will also hear and recognise the spoken words (even with their pronounciation, intonation variations) of most English speaking Americans and Europeans better and earlier. They will speak well and their vocabularies will grow faster.

Have you seen the movie INCEPTION before? You see the theme of that story? That is still a hundred times of what we are expecting from nollywood.

There are many disadvantages of nollywood movies, especially for teenage kids. I wouldn't bore you with listing them here.
